Good evening gentlemen . Mark, you've excelled yourself ! However , a couple of tips . You go to all that trouble in preparing the car and don't wear spray overalls ! You'd be surprised how much dust and hairs on you can get onto the paint . Your only dry area was when you painted the decker panel and then went to the front and worked yourself back so by the time you got to decker panel it was dry thus causing the "dry " area . I'm puzzled that you heated the paint after 2 days ? After that period it doesn't need "baking " Regarding getting the epoxy wet . Just give it a "bake " when you remofe the panels . Better to be safe than sorry ! Your hesitance with the gun is something that will disappear when your confidence grows . Pratice makes perfect ! Well done ! Oh ! And put some hooks in the roof . You can then hang panels with welding wire or lightweight chains . Cheers !
You did such a great job on the paint that I hate to mention a tip I was given when I started doing body work, the tip was never start spraying while the gun is pointed at the car, always start the spraying with the gun away from the car then move to where you want it to go, was told that IF the gun was to spite anything it will not land on the car...
Looking great and a credit to all your knowledge, dedication and hard work. Next question though - what's happened to the Mini ? Are any updates coming before lomg?
Superb thorough job, looks like you used standard thinner( ie for cleaning guns) instead of a 2k thinner, standard will thin it because of its strength but not ideal because of potential water content, which won’t necessarily show immediately. 2k thinner can be bought in litre size, as you will only use 10% approximately so cost is irrelevant. As I said though, nice job!
Is it me or is the near side door a different colour to the rear quarter. Only joking 😂 that Mazda will look awesome when it’s all red. You two gents have excelled yourselves and deserve a well earned beer or two. You’ll soon be out on the open road, roof down and having some fun. Top work.
Just found your channel. Enjoying the MX5 episodes - have built a similar spray booth myself. Did you only do 1 coat of paint? Assuming there is actually at least 2 or 3 on there? What make/shade is it? Looking for a good 2K direct gloss myself atm.
I just commented on your last video and it appeared it’s a shame you had to use the car in the primer on the rest of body panels some primers is porous once you get it wet it could spoil finish But you probably know that anyway 😂
Superb job looks great. Nice to see your dad out and about. Thank you for sharing your work on the Mazda. Cheers
What a great build, looking really nice finish. Hope mini and Jag are stres somewhere nice and dry.
Great paint job 👍👌
Cracking finish straight from the gun. All that hard work on the rear wings has really paid off.
Nice work, looks like you got a great finish. Just about to do some paint on my MGB GT, got some good tips from your work.
Nice finish it is all in the preparation. You have done a fantastic job .
Great prep and ingenuity to make shift the paint booth! Looking forward to seeing it done!
Mikey here, been subscribed practically from the beginning, you both have come along way & professed really well, enjoy the videos
Best wishes
Mikey

Hi
Really appreciate the tips thank you , it really make sense what you say when I think about it 👍
Yes masking takes ages, but it takes 10x longer to remove over spray, so worth the time and patience in the long run, nice job lads 👍
Great job

The car looks lovely. 👍 where did you get your garage racking from please?

@@recreativesigns4571 it was only a couple of shades off 🤣 good comment 👍
Looks bonny that like man 😂.. 👌🏻 just shows what results good prep work can do
💙👊😎💙👊😎
I'm really into the 2 tone red and white, maybe red and cream would work even better.
I thought there was a deliberate plan to give the MX5 a Lotus two-tone paint job like the original car the MX5 was inspired from.
Can you detail the paint products you used please?

Not making light of all the meticulous prep work you lads have done, but that spray booth was worth every penny wasn’t it?
