Great watch gents. As for the hardest genre I think it's the one that you can't turn around and say could you do that again, it's not just wildlife but also sport, weddings or anything that if you miss it there is no chance of going back to re do the shot.
Well done guys, spookily I just stumbled on one of Simon's vlogs about Winter Photography gear & was really impressed with the no-nonsense down to earth approach. (I'd also recommend the Fellwalker - was drinking that in the Lakes last week as well !)
I cut my photographic teeth with Formula One motorsport, and back in the day it was on film as well! Lots of useful lessons learned through rolls of film being ruined (and the expense). Eventually though I was awarded a contract with Midland F1 Racing and the following year with Spyker F1 to add images to their marketing efforts. All those lessons learned in the film day came in very handy indeed. Great episode gents and a lovely special guest. Take it easy out there.
Fantastic to see Simon on the pubcast, been watching Simon ever since Daz recommended his channel a long time ago. What a grafter Simon is, my back hurts every time i watch an episode but always a great watch 🤣
Great watch as always. Really interesting to hear Daz talking about astrophotography, as that’s where my route into ‘normal’ photography came from. I was getting so fed up of having thousands of pounds worth of astro kit sat doing nothing because of the lack of clear skies, that Mrs G-J suggested getting a camera and diversifying. That was just over three years ago, and I’m improving gradually. As for Christmas - Mrs G-J has started watching all the crappy Christmas movies on the dedicated Sky channel. It’s doing my nut in. Oh yeah, Gary - have you seen the new Photography show web site for 2025? I’m sure that’s you in the background of one of the photos! Great guest in Simon, I definitely don’t have the patience for shooting wildlife. Look forward to the next one
Another great episode guys cheers! I did send Darren a follow request so I could message him but he may never see it 😅 So thanks for all work and commitment to the Pubcast over the years Darren, along with the rest of they guys you’ve provided me with laughs and learnings over the last month or so as I’ve been going back through and listening to the back catalog 👍🏼
Another enjoyable episode. Simon's outlook on wildlife photography echoes my own. If you see your target species then that is a success. Anything after that is a bonus.
Great show guys, glad to see you still plodding on despite a few photography podcast stopping. A shout out to 'the photography online podcast', they can also have a good rant and talk about some topical photo subjects. Happy Christmas every🎅🤶☃️🎄
Hi Gents, another interesting and enjoyable pubcast. Interesting to know how you got started, and by the way IMHO there's never a bad time for Fig Rolls ... but as for Xmas in Novermber, just one thing to say .. Bah Humbug!
A nice surprise because in my head I thought you weren't here this week. Hands up, I've not heard of Simon before but you will have another subscriber once I've finished watching. There will no doubt be more comments as I get further through the video but if not, keep up the good work and I hope you don't go the same way as the recently dissolved podcasts.
I believe that anyone who does landscape photography is also a wildlife photographer, just through proximity. Short form, I recently photographed a dilapidated bridge when I noticed three hawks floating on the currents. The clouds were interesting, so I turned my lens skyward. I don't think I got anything keepable, but the opportunity presented itself. Same day, I also snapped a derelict cemetery in the middle of nowhere and a small town (pop. 86) celebration. Anyway, I think I've found my new Sunday afternoon house-cleaning background noise. Thanks for the conversations.
Happy Easter Gary 🤣 Great episode .Really enjoyable. Sad news about podcasts folding, so glad you guys are sticking around 👍

Great to see you all again. It would have been fantastic to see some of those wildlife photos you were describing.

Hi fwends! Another enjoyable episode and great to see Simon on here!
Hardest photography = product photography. Incredibly technical and time-consuming. Food a very close second.
Excellent, thanks guys. I'm off to look up Simon's work.

Stollen bites I've never had but mince pies should be sold all year round.
