If your neighbours are making too much noise after 12pm, call the council, they will come within 1 hr. The council might get the police involved or sue them for a lot of money if they persists.
Construction / building and other noise pollution such as partying can't be done between 11pm and 7.30am (I think those times are accurate) in residential areas. For exactly the reason you mention (being tired for work).
Lived in UK all my life and I totally agree with everything you have said. Probably best to do this when you weren't feeling at your best, meant you didn't hold back and just said it as it is.
Even this to other countries looks crazy, as fares are typically a set price. Some train lines don't even let you advance book - Southeastern has set rates for its services. London to Dover can cost more than a flight to Canada or Morocco booked a week or two in advance.
It's basically how they can get away with charging extortionate rates, because they can claim that there *are* tickets available that poor people can afford. *If they can plan ahead. (Because last minute plans are a luxury, and there's a charge for that) **If the rich people who can plan ahead haven't already bought them. (Because planning in advance isn't, to the train company's surprise, limited to just poor people) ***If you are willing to travel at quiet times of the day. (Because poor people probably don't have proper, 9-5 jobs, else they wouldn't be poor)
@@FrostedSeagull yep, fares in the UK for trains are ridiculous - I think statistically they're the most expensive in Europe, and third lowest for for customer satisfaction. Long-distance trips need to be booked in advance and the price variation can be wild. A trip to Scotland or Cornwall can cost hundreds of pounds per person, even one way. My personal best example - coming from London and traveling to Edinburgh. A one way train ticket booked three weeks in advance cost £58, and the journey time was six hours. That's without the cost of the connecting train I need to get through London to reach the Scotland-bound one - that is probably an extra £10-20 if you have to travel in rush hour. By comparison, a flight to do the same journey booked three weeks in advance, cost £17, with an hour journey time, and complimentary drink. Getting to the airport is cheaper than getting to the train station too, as you can avoid traveling through London. If I was rich, I'd choose the train for the sake of the environment, but as I'm poor, it's an easy guess which one I went for. For a further point of reference, a train from London to Dover will cost about £60. You can't get an advance discount on that, because the company that runs that particular train line doesn't offer that facility. I've seen flights to Casablanca and Vancouver for less.
@@sergarlantyrell7847 all of this. It also labours under the delusion that private companies owning train lines is a competitive industry that benefits the consumer. When you're on a train and the driver or conductor says over the intercom "thank you for choosing to travel with Southern™ trains" you're left with nothing but frustration. It's not as if you could have chosen Northern Rail, or Virgin Trains instead when they don't operate on the same route, or even in your region of the country. The entire system is farcical and exploitative. There's not one like it in Europe... railways tend to either scrimp on quality or charge an extortion for luxury. The UK, quite uniquely, charges an extortion for trash.
I have spent my entire working life working in the NHS. It has never been fully funded. Healthcare is a bottomless pit of spending potential and it never will be fully funded. More money is poured into the NHS now than at any time in its entire history.
@@LG-cz6ls Which part of my post is as you say, "bollocks"? That healthcare can never be nor has it ever been fully funded or that more is spent on the NHS now that at any point in its existence? Respectfully yours.
@@stevetaylor8698 The second part. Your first point is partly due to the problem that "social" care is not included in the budget, but failings in that area impact on the NHS at greater cost. Cutting social care budgets is a false economy. Now to the major flaw in your argument. More is not being spent on a per capita or a GDP measure. You also have to look at the amount wasted on first, the internal market, and second, pissing about with tendering. Even more will be spaffed up the wall when the US insists on pharmaceuticals being included (in their favour) in any trade deal. You can forget QUALYS and NICE.
@@GameFreak7744 Not if a) we stop playing silly buggers when it comes to end of life care b) we actually invest in keeping people from having to go into hospital and looking after them better outside of hospital in the first place. c) medics stopped trying to kid themselves and terminally ill patients that treatment is always the best option. I've seen patients (and my stepdad) suffer prolonged deaths when what they really needed was to be kept as comfortable as possible while nature took its course. I wouldn't let a pet suffer the way that we expect people to.
I have lived in the uk my whole life and i think you have nailed it!! I think a large proportion of uk natives would agree wholeheartedly with almost all of your points. Sometimes a very frustrating place to live...
the third off the price is nothing. One train ride from Birmingham to London (1hr journey) costs more than a German monthly train ticket. This is so unaffordable that I know people who have never been to London in their life living in the Midlands because it's that expensive to go there. This is a shocking third-world level of "poverty" to not being able to travel to the neighboring town. And I'm not even mentioning half of the country can't afford their heating bills and have to live in cold wet houses because if they do heat them up properly it would cost them 30%+ of their monthly salary to pay for electricity and gas.
Thanks for doing this with a smile in your voice. Things I don't like:- cost of transport. TV license when all BBC shows is repeats. Unnecessary packaging when buying vegetables. Ask to take stuff to be recycled then they ask for your passport
Measurements are all over the place in UK. Must be totally confusing to foreigners. Cars do miles per gallon, but no one knows what a gallon costs because its sold in litres. Beer in pubs is in pints. Beer in cans is ml's. TV's are in inches. (42" TV) I describe really small things in mm, but when it gets a bit bigger, I switch to inches (that starts at about half an inch). I weigh 16 stone 11lb. My dog weighs 14kg (Only humans are measures in Stones)
Yvette, people were happy for Harry and Meghan. However, despite her professing to want to work with "the firm" she was seen to be breaking a lot of protocols. This didn't go down well with some people and she didn't seem to want to learn from her mistakes. Then when the self pity started people turned away. Catherine has never behaved in that fashion so has not attracted such criticism. Meghan seemed to think her californian style of doing things was going to sweep everyone up with her, not realising that the average British person views a lot of that as risible tosh. So they have gone to sulk in Canada.
Total agree she wanted to be a princess but didnt want to live by the rules of the institution yes some of the rules are outdated but tough she should have stuck to them she must have known the relationship between the media & the royals before marrying
Henry VIII didn't want to live by the rules of the institution either and he made huge differences to the monarchy. Maybe that's an old reference but I think it's relevant. Sometimes they need to change
@@KimberleyASamuels I understand your point but the main difference is Henry VIII was the monarch who was altering his relationship with the church of Rome. I don't think he would have stood for interference from a member of his court.
@@raindancer6111 Hmm. I kind of get you but I just think this obsession with tradition all of a sudden is a bit unnecessary. Especially as Harry isnt even close to being in line for the throne. He's what, 6th in line? Like just let them live. He's an adult and capable of making his own decisions even if we don't always like them.
@@KimberleyASamuels I'm fine with them going off to strike out on their own. But I don't think they should retain the titles or use royal status for marketing. Royal protocol is so convoluted. Her Majesty has already made one big change to the monarchy by changing the laws of succession to give equality to females in line to the throne. The Queen is the head of state and defender of the faith, you can't have people coming in willy-nilly and trying to mess with precedents. It's up to the monarch to make the changes. When the time comes who knows what Charles or William will want to do.
Such shallow views. Andrew has nothing to do with Markle. She is an attention seeking, unstable person who can't maintain relationships even with her family. Brexit is absolutely justified.
Legit comments, can't really disagree. Although maybe one point - as I understand it if you purchase your train tickets 50 years in advance then the first 3 customers get a 2.5% discount. Bargain! ;)
Using imperial or metric depends on what you're measuring for instance your height is inches while measuring the length of something is done in metres while distance is done in miles. Weight is done in pounds for living things but grams for ingredients.
Think it might depend on what generation are you. Speaking as a Generation X, I personally "think" in terms of inches for short length (cm are more accurate and I measure in cm or mm where necessary for accuracy, but when I'm forced to guesstimate a short length I think in inches as cm are individually too small to mentally picture). I know my weight in kg, but wouldn't know a pound or stone if it came up and bit me in the you-know-where (and kg are easy to imagine, its a bag of sugar!). I think of fluid amounts generally in litres - as 1000ml = 1000cm3, or the volume of a 10x10x10cm cube, it's fairly easy to mentally picture - not sure I'd actually know how much of something a gallon was. But of course our roads signs and speed limits are in miles and mph, probably because successive governments over decades haven't wanted to make the commitment to change all the road signs. And fuel efficiency is still usually quoted here in mpg for some reason (rather than the L/100km they measure in Europe), maybe just to go with the miles thing?
If anyone started building work at that time of night record it as proof and then get in touch with your local authority because there is no way that should be happening..
Wills Womble No, I lived in the West Country for a long time, and it's definitely relative. The salaries are appalling and because you need a car to get around, it means you often have to run two cars because yourself and your partner work in completely different towns and it becomes very expensive. Having no money in the countryside was a lot more depressing than having very little spare in the city, where I can walk two minutes from my front door to find shops and cafes and plenty to do. And I live in a very village-like London suburb, away from the centre, so it does not feel at all like the city and there are lots of fields and places to walk so I have the best of all worlds.
Average speed cameras don’t flash. They record your car entering the average speed area and leaving and calculate your average speed from there. Static speed cameras will only flash when you have been caught over the speed limit. So if it flashes you’ve been caught!
so almost £80+ roundtrip? Now check where you can fly for that amount of money - 5hrs to Tenerife, France, Amsterdam, even Turkey, all below £80 round trip from London airports. How come they tricked you into thinking a train ride that would cost £10 in Germany or Spain or France should cost £80 just because we are on the island? And no one cares and people just recommend buying in advance so you can pay an insane amount of money instead of the ridiculously insane amount of money?
I think you have finally turned into a British person, these ‘little’ irks are literally real for us all! We just need the The Three Birds Renovation team and Kath & Kim to join us and we’d be happier. Love your video Yvette, sending my sympathies and lots of love your way. Pro tip - get a broom and bang it on the ceiling and shout as loud as you can “Shut the bloody hell up!” You’ll get a better sleep then.❤️
BREXIT: no money was ever promised to go to the NHS. It was a suggestion of a better place to spend the money. Nobody was in a position to make such a promise, it could have only ever have been a suggestion. Petrol is sold in litres because if they sold it in gallons motorists would realise how much they are being ripped off. It’s just that simple, we are paying roughly £5.90 for a gallon!

Booking ahead gets you decent discounts on trains. Even to places like Manchester. You may even get first class tickets cheaper. Flashing cameras are taking pictures. The average speed cameras are those on high yellow gantries and don’t flash.
As a fellow Brit (you're British now), the housing prices and train fares are definitely the worst parts of living in Britain. I moved to London from the South of England to shorten my commute to work which cost me £404 a month and 4hrs of my day. Not one part of me regrets the move as I can now walk to work, but I also pay £750 pm for a double room in a shared house... London... 😂😅
The referendum was the public Vs the establishment. It took nearly 4 years for the will of the people to prevail as the establishment refused to accept the result. Also as can be seen, majority governments make for strong governments. If we don’t like them we vote them out. Finally National Insurance contributions means you are also paying in to get a state pension but you will need a minimum of 10 years to hit the lowest threshold.
Average speed cameras do t flash. They have infrared cameras, they light up the number plate on the car and computers read and record the car registration, if they see that registration pass between the cameras too quickly then a fine is issued. The cameras on the motorways especially the M25 are normally smart cameras that will adjust to the speed of the motorway signs. If you’re seeing a flash then someone is speeding. On the motorways the cameras are very clever at picking out the car in multiple lanes that was speeding.
Trains are soooo much cheaper if you book in advance, you could go to Manchester for around £30 if you know when to buy and where to look! You should also look into Railcards they are a lifesaver if you want to make regular trips! If you’re desperate to save money and don’t want to drive, a more environmentally friendly option is a megabus/ other long distance bus services. They’re usually under £15 depending where you’re going and means you don’t have to worry about parking your car, paying for fuel, staying awake for long journeys etc. Might be worth looking into if you don’t mind a longer journey time than trains 😊
oh yeah spend 5 hrs in Megabus and Flixbus just because the train (basic transportation for any european country) woudl cost you 10% of your monthly salary even if you buy it in advance. Maybe you should stop justifying it and admit we have a problem?
Another great video. Keep up the good work. Speed cameras were installed many years ago supposedly to reduce accidents but it soon became apparent that they are to generate revenue. Some sat navs have the speed cameras locations in their software and they work pretty well. Best to just not speed (I drive like an old women). Parking:- We chose our house mostly because it has off road parking. Not going to get political here but its silly stuff like parking and dozens of other things which made people vote for Brexit. Far too many people on a small island. Everyone wants to live in the UK. Don't take that the wrong way. We love you and your husband and you're both very welcome here.
If you buy tickets in advance you can easily get a return to Manchester for about £40, but yeah they are ridiculously priced. I live in the north and the trains are so bad I often get a lot of my money back through the delay repay scheme, although I'd rather just get to where I'm going on time.
Agree, mostly. We had a referendum on the single transferable vote, but we said no. Media were generally against and misrepresented it. Media is crap as stated. Metric vs imperial we use both, generally for different things, went to metric unless there was a good excuse not to. House prices and thus rents crazy, partly due to foreign investors and a system which has rewarded owning empty properties.. Travel costs are awful, loads of history, Beeching, European rules on subsidises, privatisation... basically government takes the position railways need to make a profit, but road don't.
Book in advance for train tickets (at least a month), get advance ticket, split the tickets and check different train lines. Can get then a lot cheaper than £200 to Manchester. Prob around £40.
Hiya. Something you've missed? How about booking trains in advance? I've just checked, for example, London Euston to Manchester Piccadilly on Feb. 5th and leaving London between 10 a.m. and 11.20 a.m., for instance, the single fare ranges between £27 and £39. If you had a Railcard as well (£30 for the year) you could knock a third off those prices. I have a Railcard and I regularly travel between the Midlands and London, First Class, for peanuts! What the heck are you doing wrong?! I'll leave everybody else to talk about the other stuff. All the best to you.
and now check peak time. And yeah £60 round trip is more than any flight to Spain, France, or Netherlands for tomorrow from London airports. But stay proud you've managed to find such a "cheap" train ride
The weather for starters. 6 months of grey, cold and wet, often with wind thrown in as well, even worse up north. Overpopulation, congestion, housing costs, small accommodation yet very expensive. Surveillance state, cameras everywhere.
We are all just used to past imperial then we had to add metric, so we just use whatever you like as some things are just better in one form and not the other i.e a pint is so much better. Feet and inches but other stuff like measuring out long items are better in meters, other measurements are either metric or imperial which ever are the nearest
Two bits of advice..... Trains.... use something called "Split-ticketing" (I used to work for East Mids Trains, so know a few tricks), with the Raileasy site automating the task for you raileasy.trainsplit.com/...... try to book a min of 2 weeks in advance for best prices, and DO NOT use any 3rd party booking sites like The Trainline, Red Spotted Hankey etc, as they don't always offer the best fares, or limit availability of some ticket types (If Raileasy is not an option, go direct to the Train Operating Company in question, for a more fair deal..... if unsure of what operator, a Google Maps search for your Journey will often tell you). Avanti West Coast, operate the Manchester services from Euston (Was Virgin). Noise at night, you may notice that trucks, buses etc which have those reversing beacon sounds, are not permitted to have those activated between the hrs of 11pm / 7am in some places.... Excessive noise from a property also comes under this same law, with exception to emergency works, with said works kept to a minimum to complete the emergency task. If applicable, your Landlord may have regulations, which extend beyond these times, so worth checking out if required.
so why we should be treating trains like planes and book in advance exactly? and why even booking in advance we still pay more than a flight to spain? Maybe stop justifying the rides which cost £10 anywhere else in europe?
Yes trains can be expensive. But never buy a ticket inter city on the day, if you buy in advance lot cheaper but only for that train. You have to be on that train, don't miss it. There are some bargains about, for example going Newcastle-Gourock tomorrow (about 4 hour journey) and back for £40. Yes with a senior railcard so that would be £60 for you. I have even been known t go 1st class if the tickets are cheap, on LNER they actually give you a meal, can make sense. Free Coffee too, much as you want. The other thing is you can split the journey without coming off the train. If you are going London -Glasgow, try splitting at Preston. You may have to come off the train, or not as the case may be. If you do make sure you have 30 mins to spare just in case. For London-Manchester, you may want to try London-Crewe on London North Western railway. Takes longer, you want cheap though unbeatable. For example on Tuesday 11th Feb (just checked), you can buy a single to Crewe for £9 still available. From Crewe i'm sure you can get a reasonable fare. Personally now, I always book LNER for any ticket anywhere. They most often send the ticket to your mobile or they will PDF it to Email. So no more losing tickets like I did once with no refund. However, the bugbear is that Virgin East Coast changed the site so can't book up bikes now on the LNER site. Thanks Richard. And then Richard gave up on the east coast trains. If you want to book bikes, my suggestion is Trans Penine express or great western as you can book the bike at the same time as the ticket. Don't ever book trainline, there is a booking fee. Why do that?
and what if i can't plan in advance and happen to want to go for an evening out to the neighboring town? Why does it cost more than a flight to Spain considering the train isn't even full? And why when I book in advance I still pay 5 times the price of a similar distance train ride in France or Germany? Why are you justifying this bs? £60 is 5% of the average salary in the UK after tax per month. We have to pay 5% of our salary just to buy in advance a ticket to the neighboring town? This is an unheard level of unaffordability.
I know its been mentioned in the comments already, but the constructions workers are in breach of the Noise Nuisance Act. I would call the building Management Company to make a formal complaint and also phone the council. Different councils will respond differently depending on their resources (some will response the same night, others will take 2 weeks before they will give you a call to enquire what your complaint was about), but you definitely should call both. Banging until 1am is most definitely not on and they are breaking law (and probably getting away with it because no one complains)
I agree, Yvette. Recently, I took a bus from Vienna to Prague and it didn't even cost me £12 as it was such a lovely journey too. I can't go very far for that money within the UK at all. We really do get ripped off here for train fares.
I agree with most of that. If the government are serious about environmental issues then public transport needs to be addressed. By the way, there are laws in this country that say that building work should only be carried out in normal working hours. You can report it to your local council.
Property prices determined by supply and demand: small island, high population, little land to build on, high immigration, property investment from China, Saudi, Russia in London all leads to stupid prices.
If you pre book a train ticket (at least a month before hand) it will only cost £25 to £40. Local trains up north are cheap but not reliable. I recently went from Preston to Manchester on a Sunday and it only cost £25 return
Speed cameras take photos, average speed check cameras read your number plate as you pass and calculate your average speed by the distance to the next camera.
How to reduce rail fare? Book it a few days before, at the booking office. I took a train from Cambridge to Brighton, book two days before, 30 quid return.
Actually £92 from London to Manchester is expensive. I've just looked on train line because I have nothing better to do with my time and it says you can get a return for 50.50 if you book in advance.
this distance would cost you £10 round trip pretty much anywhere in western europe and yet you're proud it only costs £92 pounds? No wonder they rip you off that much as you don't even care. I paid £90 for my 5hr flight Luton - Cairo Egypt and you're just getting a simple train ride for that same amount of money.
Headline from the Sun newspaper 27thJan: “Police Scotland took down large-scale asylum seeker grooming gang in Glasgow - but kept it secret” Did this story keep the spotlight off Prince Andrew?
It's already been said but if you book in advance with the train line, you save money. I'm going to London in February from Liverpool and it cost me £24 return.
Alex Ewan I've tried that and it always come out more expensive -- and it's complicated when you're trying to do connecting journeys. I think it's probably fine if you're doing a single route with one service provider, but actually works out better for the customer if you have to use multiple train services. I think in those situations, trainline.com for example must have certain deals with the different companies.
@@penname5766 Each to their own i guess. I've tried other app and sites and the trainline always works out cheaper for me in most instances. Must be the parts of the country we live in.
Bits Of Ben Yeah maybe, it's hard to say. I wasn't challenging the comment, I just wondered if there was something I was missing! Always keen to get a cheaper train ticket if I can! I have to travel to the West Country from the South East for all family get-togethers and it's expensive!
Get a two together railcard for 34% off if both of you travel together. Also book as far in advance as possible and buy an advance ticket. Then the prices are very reasonable. Never buy walk up tickets for a long distance journey, well not unless it is for business and your employer is paying! Also look into split ticketing with sites such as trainsplit or loco2.
If you plan ahead, you can get rail travel a lot cheaper. For instance, I just checked London to Manchester a few weeks ahead, and a return ticket is available for £44, which is more than reasonable. I agree about the weights and measures. We should just go to metric and be done with it.
I did enjoy your video and I agree about the trains !!I had to catch a train to London Heathrow from Macclesfield in order to catch my flight back to Australia . I did this because of snow I was unable to fly to london !! It was so expensive ,yes I did it on short notice but what a rip off . The good news is I just made my flight home . I left England 38 years ago best decision of my life ,do not miss the cold weather or the wingeing poms lol !!
Did you know if you travel off-peak, a return to Manchester is just £92.10 - which for a 400 mile round trip is cheaper than petrol and parking! And you won't lose your spot!
I've been living in the UK for 3 years and I agree the trains are expensive, I prefer to drive but do have a Millenial railcard which knocks 30% off the price. If you prefer to drive and have a driveway, you need to live outside London. The thing I don't like is probably just the whole Brexit thing.
I hear you on the reversing thing. For the first ten years of my driving experience I rode motorcycles - never bothered taking the car test, and being a biker taught me quick reactions, to notice the condition of the road, and how to anticipate the stupid that happens, but it did NOT teach me how to reverse! So... despite being a car driver for many decades I am still average to below at reversing. It is annoying, but ingraining physical skills/coordination when you're young is way better... (The sensor on the Jag has saved my twice this week lol)
The British audience probably didn’t like having to listen to the Royal pair advocating having less children. Do the royal pair realise that other continent’s birth rates/populations are higher & growing or is the royal pairs answer to that, to ignore it & simply move those country’s overflowing population to the counties they’re currently lecturing to, to become consumers there instead?
Regarding the late night work you should complain to the local council. Do not call the police it nothing to do with them unless there is likely to be a fight. People can only carry out work late at night if they have good reason, it is very unlikely that these people had a reason. If you have a reason , such as using a crane to lift in an air conditioning unit etc that can not be done in the day, then you have to get permission from the local council. So you should phone the council at the time if they do it again. They will come around and stop the work.
The train prices really vary. London trains are for sure to expensive costs me £150 for a return 3.5hr trip. But i often get a 2hr train down to visit family in countryside for £3.
We Have a two together rail card . If you travel with your Partner on the train you will get a 30% discount. So one trip to Manchester will pay for itself. I think they cost around £30,so well worth the investment if you use the train alot.
Great video. No need to keep apologising or justifying why you’re saying it. You’re definitely right about train prices. Overall - I still think the extortionate house pricing is more London than anywhere else. It’s just in a league of its own.
Wow, that was a bit of a moan! The dearest return fare I could find to Manchester from London is £69, and that's as short notice as tomorrow! A lot of your other points are frustrating, however most can be worked around or lived with to the extent that they won't really bother you if you don't get too hung up on them :-)
@@mrmessy7334 Maybe, but it's not a like for like comparison, and it's no good you flying to Europe if you really wanted to go to Manchester is it, Lol :-)
You should report your neighbour. You are not allowed to do construction work in a residential area before 8am! Tell the local council! Probably best to have a word first but if they are that inconsiderate in the first place they probably won’t be so forthcoming. But then again they may just be ignorant of the rule. Great vids btw :)
I have a wide sedan now too (I used to have a tiny Honda Civic sized car), and I agree it's very difficult to parallel park it. It's like parking a boat.
Housing up here might be cheaper but the wages are a lot lower so its another catch 22. Many people in the North that were born, bred and lived all thier lives up here still can't afford to buy even hen full time working because of the lot lower wages than down south.
Your advantage is that working down there you can hopefully put a bit aside and then later in life come up north and buy a cheap house as I know many southern people have done. Trouble is that pushes up property prices in the North and we do not have the option of ever moving south.
Yvette if you decide to stay in the UK & have a family don’t even consider trying to stay in London!Think about Kent or Bedford,Peterborough even West Sussex but don’t even dream of buying a family home I’m London!& if your both incredibly practical Wales it is!!!
The only way the cost of rail tickets will come down or stabilise is if the Railway was nationalised again. There will be no need for them to make a profit for the owners and all revenue can go to improvements and running costs. Public Transport owned by the public, i.e. the State, for the public benefit. I am not a Labour Party supporter.
With the trains you need to book way in advance to get a good price. If you buy on the day it's a total rip off Also you can get a couple's Railcard which gets you a 3rd off if you travel with your partner
You say "You are welcome Britain" (in a satirical way) (???) and "Trust me" - these are words which do not sit comfortably with me especially from someone expressing on a social platform which is open to children and upwards of age. My teenage daughters are always asking me to "trust" them (which as a parent I instantly do not until fully researched) although I will give you some homage on COVID which had not taken effect fully in the UK around Jan 2020 when this video was posted. The NHS has proved to be priceless.

Average speed cameras do not flash, they use infra red, they record your speed whether your speeding or not,as for the price of housing, it's the same the world over, if every body wants to live in the same place the price will reflect supply and demand. as a Londoner born and raised I'm so glad I no longer live there awful place.
With measurements etc. If you were born up to the 1960s you were taught feet and inches and pints and quarts. From 1970 when we joined Common Market everything went metric. Mind you we also got colour television the 4 day week and mass unemployment.
Making a noise working in the flat up stairs in the middle of the night is a big NO , NO ! If it happens again call the Old Bill, they will sort them out ! Cost of trains is ridicules. It is not generally know in the UK , France and Germany pay a lot more to subsidize the net work then the government does over here ! The second point is , it was only the actual trains that was privatised. The track , stations were never taken out of public ownership . The taxpayer is still paying for that !
I haven’t went there, but I do think there’s too many laws that don’t make since and also, it’s offensive to say “Excuse me” In London- But I do wanna visit! ☺️
Is it? I live in Devon which is a couple of hours on the train from London, been there twice and never been told it's offensive to say "excuse me"... Saying that, no one says "excuse me" in damn near the whole of the UK unless they're trying to move past you... in which case you actually are supposed to say "sorry, mind if I just squeeze past?" For example you're on a bus and someone has decided to sit themselves next to you (thankfully this is not permitted during the Rona), you press the bell to signal you wish to get off at the next stop.. the person next to you doesn't move, despite you having to reach across them to press the bell.... your stop is coming up...nearly there and they still haven't moved an inch... so you look over to them and say "sorry.. mind if i queeze past?"
@@sicfaciuntomnes5604 I say the exact same on all buses anywhere outside of London but traveling on buses within the M25.........well, let's just say various bodily fluids & tissue samples were left behind the last time I was blocked from pressing the bell to get off 🏳️🌈🇬🇧🏴❤️
BRITISH trains are cheap its travelling on them thats expensive. the UK is consistent ask anyone they will tell you the UK is consistently inconsistent. you talked about BRITAIN vs the UK i am shocked you left out the commonwealth and the BRITISH overseas territories. its easy to find parking space in the UK as long as you dont mind parking on one of the tiny off shore islands. you are right our politics is corrupt.it doesn't matter who you vote for the politicians still get in. UK houses are very reasonably priced ask any billionaire they will confirm it
I hardly ever travel by train, but here in the South West when I've travelled locally - say 140 mile round trip, it's costs me less than £10 by train for the return journey - I call that a bargain. As for London, that's a different country as far as I'm concerned!
The cloudy weather the speed camera distance thing has started in Victoria now love roundabouts except where there s lot of traffic are my views lot in cairns Australia
If your neighbours are making too much noise after 12pm, call the council, they will come within 1 hr. The council might get the police involved or sue them for a lot of money if they persists.
If my neighbours did any of that I would be calling right away.
Construction / building and other noise pollution such as partying can't be done between 11pm and 7.30am (I think those times are accurate) in residential areas. For exactly the reason you mention (being tired for work).
Grass
Me too
9pm is noise cut off time for the UK. 7am is the start.
It’s not half the country that’s metric and half imperial, we all use both. It’s bonkers but I sort of like it.
Kilometers are soo boring while Miles are romantic and exciting, but metres are good and useful ..yes we'll have them LOL
We just said, yeah all these units of measurement belong to us now. British history in a nutshell really.
me too its like a hybrid, and its shows that it doesn't matter what the measurement is, as long as you can understand it
Lived in UK all my life and I totally agree with everything you have said. Probably best to do this when you weren't feeling at your best, meant you didn't hold back and just said it as it is.
Yup. I’m a Brit and everything on your list is totally fair. All annoying 😁
If you were thrilled about everything in any country you lived in, you wouldn't be anywhere near normal. :)
Your best video yet! Pretty sure it’s illegal for people to be doing renovations next door so late in the evening, by the way.
YEAH, PRETTY SURE THERE ARE NOISE ORDINANCES IN PLACE IN LONDON.
@@fernandopestana3383 that's literally not true, only if your living in what used to be a house converted to flats.
I booked a return from London to Manchester before Xmas for £32 total. Need to pre book and choose a specific train. £200 is the walk up fare.
(Because last minute plans are a luxury, and there's a charge for that)
**If the rich people who can plan ahead haven't already bought them. (Because planning in advance isn't, to the train company's surprise, limited to just poor people)
***If you are willing to travel at quiet times of the day. (Because poor people probably don't have proper, 9-5 jobs, else they wouldn't be poor)
@@ReallyBritishOne seriously ?
With all due respect (none), given the increasing demands placed on the NHS, I say bollocks!
Trouble is, with an ageing population, the demand is just gonna keep going up and up beyond the rate the funding goes up.
You can forget QUALYS and NICE.

a) we stop playing silly buggers when it comes to end of life care
b) we actually invest in keeping people from having to go into hospital and looking after them better outside of hospital in the first place.
c) medics stopped trying to kid themselves and terminally ill patients that treatment is always the best option.
The north’s great we have an ice wall, white walkers you name it
Have you looked into a railcard? They have one for couples and takes a third of the price of the ticket.
the third off the price is nothing.
Trains are much less expensive if you buy Advance tickets well ahead of time plus you can do split ticketing (look it up).
they are still more expensive than flights or in any other european country
Sky news Australia is a breath of fresh air..

Measurements are all over the place in UK. Must be totally confusing to foreigners.
Cars do miles per gallon, but no one knows what a gallon costs because its sold in litres.
Beer in pubs is in pints. Beer in cans is ml's.
TV's are in inches. (42" TV)
I describe really small things in mm, but when it gets a bit bigger, I switch to inches (that starts at about half an inch).
I weigh 16 stone 11lb. My dog weighs 14kg (Only humans are measures in Stones)
Do you ever take the free London evening standard newspaper? People need to keep taking it so I can keep my job. Good video as always.
Bargain! ;)
😂
Just to be clear (this is no defence in any way) but Prince Andrew has not been accused of being a paedophile.
For house prices look up north! Literally pennies compared to London! As long as there's work up here for you! xx

Book ahead, just looked on trainline, Next Friday Euston to Manchester Piccadilly, £39.50 - £44.00 outward, back Saturday or Sunday £30.00 or £46.00
so almost £80+ roundtrip? Now check where you can fly for that amount of money - 5hrs to Tenerife, France, Amsterdam, even Turkey, all below £80 round trip from London airports. How come they tricked you into thinking a train ride that would cost £10 in Germany or Spain or France should cost £80 just because we are on the island? And no one cares and people just recommend buying in advance so you can pay an insane amount of money instead of the ridiculously insane amount of money?
I think you have finally turned into a British person, these ‘little’ irks are literally real for us all!
The average speed cameras are those on high yellow gantries and don’t flash.
stop justifying this. £50 is not a "discounted" rate. It's still way to expensive for a train and still more expensive than a flight to Spain!
My god you’re having a good old rant there, I’m impressed, Are you sure you’re not British?
No ones denying the changing climate, what not everyone is in agreement with is, is whether it’s “man made” climate change.

I’m on life long medication and it’s free god help me if I lived in the USA 🤔
What do you mean "split the tickets"?
Off peak. Well done!
and now check peak time.
Thanks God for cameras.
But who cares if government doesn't do anything to solve social problems?
We are all just used to past imperial then we had to add metric, so we just use whatever you like as some things are just better in one form and not the other i.e a pint is so much better. Feet and inches but other stuff like measuring out long items are better in meters, other measurements are either metric or imperial which ever are the nearest
You will love Wiltshire! Great choice. Cotswolds right next door too ♥️

@Bilbo Baggins That's true actually but I don't find the journeys as comfortable or as pleasant here to be honest.
I recently went from Preston to Manchester on a Sunday and it only cost £25 return
only? My 4 hr flight to Tenerife was only £30, but £30 for a train is extortionate and unaffordable for most people in the UK.
Average speed cameras don’t flash. If you have been flashed you have triggered a normal camera!
Speed cameras take photos, average speed check cameras read your number plate as you pass and calculate your average speed by the distance to the next camera.
How to reduce rail fare? Book it a few days before, at the booking office. I took a train from Cambridge to Brighton, book two days before, 30 quid return.
£30 is still 5 times more than an average train ride somewhere in Germany or France. And that's considering you booked in advance.
I just took five minutes to find a return fare London-Manchester for £92 - so how ar you getting to Manchester - via Neptune????
Cost me £69 return from Liverpool Lime Street to Euston not that long ago. Think I stumbled across a good offer though
I've got £24 return, Lime Street to Euston.
£92 is still a ridiculous price you can buy flights to Europe for much less
Actually £92 from London to Manchester is expensive. I've just looked on train line because I have nothing better to do with my time and it says you can get a return for 50.50 if you book in advance.
this distance would cost you £10 round trip pretty much anywhere in western europe and yet you're proud it only costs £92 pounds? No wonder they rip you off that much as you don't even care. I paid £90 for my 5hr flight Luton - Cairo Egypt and you're just getting a simple train ride for that same amount of money.
For someone who says they are not going say whether Brexit is good or bad, you did a very poor job of hiding that you are a remainer lol.

Average speed cameras don't flash!
It's already been said but if you book in advance with the train line, you save money. I'm going to London in February from Liverpool and it cost me £24 return.
Never use Trainline as they charge booking fees. Use any train operators website as they sell all the same tickets but without any fees.
I'm quite alright with it, it's only 30p a time. I only travel by train ever few weeks and The mobile app is quick and easy.
Also look into split ticketing with sites such as trainsplit or loco2.
prices are reasonable? what do you smoke?
The fact we use imperial and metric is great, it keeps people thinking.
If you plan ahead, you can get rail travel a lot cheaper. For instance, I just checked London to Manchester a few weeks ahead, and a return ticket is available for £44, which is more than reasonable.
I agree about the weights and measures. We should just go to metric and be done with it.
a flight to Spain is cheaper than your "cheap" £44 ticket on the train which I have to pre-book a few weeks ahead. Keep justifying that nonsense...
£92 for off peak train is still twice the price of a flight to Barcelona or Tenerife. Think about it.
Property is supply and demand / too much demand ..
I've been living in the UK for 3 years and I agree the trains are expensive, I prefer to drive but do have a Millenial railcard which knocks 30% off the price. If you prefer to drive and have a driveway, you need to live outside London. The thing I don't like is probably just the whole Brexit thing.
Believe me the British don’t like the whole Brexit saga either, it had to be done though.
The train to manchester is more expensive than a train to paris at twice the speed
We Have a two together rail card . If you travel with your Partner on the train you will get a 30% discount. So one trip to Manchester
will pay for itself.
A lot of your other points are frustrating, however most can be worked around or lived with to the extent that they won't really bother you if you don't get too hung up on them :-)
Bet that's a slow train, possibly with changes. Off peak, too. Try getting to there and back without turning it into a 13-15 hour day.
@@LG-cz6ls This morning the FAST 0840 from Euston to Manchester Piccadilly is £66.42 (return), arriving at 1046. So even better! :-)
thats still extortionate
@@tridaks I have flown to Europe for less than that!
@@mrmessy7334 Maybe, but it's not a like for like comparison, and it's no good you flying to Europe if you really wanted to go to Manchester is it, Lol :-)
No traffic cameras use a forward facing flash.
Sedan?? Is it an American car?? No wonder you have trouble parking it.:-)
Housing up here might be cheaper but the wages are a lot lower so its another catch 22.
Great Britain use 100% imperial units also (British measurement unit) because it is easy and simple metic units confuse boring and confusing
also called British measurements units forgotten to put called in
With the trains you need to book way in advance to get a good price. If you buy on the day it's a total rip off
Also you can get a couple's Railcard which gets you a 3rd off if you travel with your partner
Move to Norwich, Norfolk, Uk. It’s a really nice city with a national park on its doorstep. The rest of the Norfolk is rural flat countryside which is really nice in the summer. It’s is also the driest county and house prices are low
Norwich is pretty damn nice, I have to agree. If we ever thought about moving, definitely high on the list...
Another great video Yvie. That sucks about the parking & getting drilled all night😓
Things are different in all countries I hope things get better for you take care love seeing you
UK: *Offended* USA: ...... Paris: Well I kind of find some stuff true- It IS Hard to catch a flight and- UK: OH YEAH? YOU WANNA FIGHT!? USA: ......Ummm- maybe I should go- New York: I kinda feel like IM The best country- No one will make hate about me- Me: OMG STOP FIGHTING! USA: NEW YORK IS TOO CROWDED! YOU CAN GET ROBBED OR MURDERED, Japan: Ummm- did I get here at the wrong time- USA: AND JAPAN HAS GROSS FOO- Oh hello Japan! ☺️😅 Japan: WHAT DID YOU SAY YOU LITTLE- Me: Welp, that’s my cue to go before ANOTHER World war comes on- Bye bye-
If book your train journey's a couple weeks in advance they are usually quite a bit cheaper
Move to Birmingham, your money will buy you a great house compared to London and it’s about 1 hour and 20mins to Euston.
Avoid Manchester living come Shropshire we are awesome :)
Catfish Billy no it’s not, it’s no worse than any other big cities, we have Some great residential areas, Solihull, Edgbaston, Sutton, 4 Oakes. transport links, fantastic shopping, fab eateries, balti triangle and plenty of cultural and night life. Close to Stratford and Warwick.
I loved living in Birmingham
You don't need to go that far out of London for space because I live quite close all I need is the brilliant c2c line.
the thing that i hate the most is the old houses and seeing a lot of old people
Look at booking a few days before, rail cards and also a tip is to split the tickets but for the same journey or line. It is sometimes cheaper.
Brexit is coming to an end on 31st Jan....woo!
I think its not beinf defensive, i think its more people are more passionate about their country within the uk and the history they have.
We use both measure of units due to covertion for US products, senior generation as they grew up on the old units.
Saying that, no one says "excuse me" in damn near the whole of the UK unless they're trying to move past you... in which case you actually are supposed to say "sorry, mind if I just squeeze past?"
For example you're on a bus and someone has decided to sit themselves next to you (thankfully this is not permitted during the Rona), you press the bell to signal you wish to get off at the next stop..
the person next to you doesn't move, despite you having to reach across them to press the bell.... your stop is coming up...nearly there and they still haven't moved an inch... so you look over to them and say "sorry.. mind if i queeze past?"
@@sicfaciuntomnes5604 I say the exact same on all buses anywhere outside of London but traveling on buses within the M25.........well, let's just say various bodily fluids & tissue samples were left behind the last time I was blocked from pressing the bell to get off 🏳️🌈🇬🇧🏴❤️
BRITISH trains are cheap
its travelling on them thats expensive.
the UK is consistent ask anyone they will
tell you the UK is consistently inconsistent.
you talked about BRITAIN vs the UK i am shocked
you left out the commonwealth and the BRITISH
overseas territories.
its easy to find parking space in the UK as long
as you dont mind parking on one of the tiny off
shore islands.
you are right our politics is corrupt.it doesn't
matter who you vote for the politicians still
get in.
UK houses are very reasonably priced ask
any billionaire they will confirm it

I hardly ever travel by train, but here in the South West when I've travelled locally - say 140 mile round trip, it's costs me less than £10 by train for the return journey - I call that a bargain. As for London, that's a different country as far as I'm concerned!
The cloudy weather the speed camera distance thing has started in Victoria now love roundabouts except where there s lot of traffic are my views lot in cairns Australia
