How the China-Taiwan dispute began?
তাইওয়ানের নতুন প্রেসিডেন্ট লাই চিং শপথ নেওয়ার কয়েকদিন পরেই দ্বীপটিকে ঘিরে বড় সামরিক মহড়া দেওয়া শুরু করেছে চীন। এই মহড়াটি মূলত স্ব-শাসিত তাইওয়ানের ওপর চীনের দাবির বহিঃপ্রকাশ। বেইজিং তাইওয়ানকে একটি বিচ্ছিন্ন প্রদেশ হিসেবে দেখে এবং চীনের অংশ করতে চায়। প্রয়োজনে সামরিক শক্তি প্রয়োগের সম্ভাবনা চীন কখনোই খারিজ করে দেয়নি। কিন্তু তাইওয়ানের একটি বড় জনসংখ্যা নিজেদেরকে একটি পৃথক রাষ্ট্র মনে করে। তাদের চাওয়া, তাইওয়ান স্ব-শাসিত প্রদেশ থাকবে। চীনের সাথে যুক্ত হবে না। আর এই দ্বন্দ চলছে গত ৭৫ বছর ধরে।
