Cool vid. A quick tip for future comment readers: The quickest+easiest way to switch to track2 when the looper is stopped is to press the Loop switch while holding down the Rhythm switch. That way you can record immediately to track2.
Two really cool things.... 1. - One of the preset rhythms is 5/4, you can select a different inbuilt percussion kit to this to get several 5/4 patterns. 2. - You can record a sequence of chords and then change the tempo when playing back, this only changes the speed NOT the pitch so is great for recording some complicated chord sequence and increasing your tempo when playing along.
I have this pedal and this is the best tutorial I have seenl. It’s a complex device, and this made it easier, Of course there is so much it will take multiple views to understand the whole thing. I do find using the External switch makes the pedal even easier to use, one of the two is set for tap tempo. The second right now is being used to provide access to the rhythm control, just easier to access than the pedal itself, but a lot of options,
I try yesterday to use this pedal tjat I just bought and hit the wall quiet fast. It is more clear now with your video. Your tuto is really good. I still like this pedal despite the ergonomy problems. Now, I want to download new drum patterns and backtracks and import them into the looper. My next step. Thank u so much. Have a good week end.
I was hoping to get rid of the outtro without using immediate stop. Intros are fine but I'm hating some of the outtros. When you stop, it should just finish the measures and stop. You are amazing at explaining how this device works. If all the people that returned their RC10 was able to see your great work at explaining how things works and the options available when adding the pedals, I don't think they would have returned it. Boss would gain even more business if only they would consider asking the public, people like you, ....... ( WHO TOOK THE TIME TO ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT IT OFFERS AS WELL AS IT'S LIMITATIONS) .... what adjustments would you like to see made to the device as is, ( As is meaning fix what will make better sense VS adding something that would raise the price. I would pay a little extra if they fix plus added. Thank you for your work, Boss R U Listening??? Send this man an appreciation check.
Thank you for the demo and easy explanation. Right now I'm just getting into loopers seriously and it's a tough choice. I always assume I'll be connecting external pedal switches. The technology is there. The room for infinite foot switches is not. I have the RC 5, and HIGHLY recommend it to anyone wanting a single size stomp pedal and can afford the $250 new price. It does A LOT, however I have it maxed out with the two external foot switches it allows for. Also the mini TRS midi jack will sync up to other units . I ALSO ended up with the RC 600, IT carries a hefty $700 price tag, but is so very programmable, has both 6 separate inputs/ outputs (or 3 stereo) seven switches with room to expand to 4 more, or remote midi control. I know it was overkill. I may never use all of its features, or even learn all of them it's so configurable they shouldn't have even labeled the onboard switches they'll do whatever you tell it to. I had the money, the RC 500 BOSS says it's an oversized RC 5 WITH an extra switch but what I saw was a 2 looper pedal That mates up very well with an RC 5 via midi for a 3 track unit (2 rythym generators ? Could come in handy I guess. Anyway the RC 5 and RC 600 THAT'S what I ended up with. I admit I was quite extravagant with these purchases, the upside it's highly unlikely I will ever want for more.. Thank You Again, Great Rundown !!!!!
Not sure if you'll see this post as I'm about 3 years too late, but here goes. Can you change the functions of the Boss RC-19R foot switches to have the Loop (Left) pedal do the standard protocol: Record/Play/Overdub and then have footswitch 2 (Rhythmn) be an all stop button? Also, is there another way of turning off the rhythm track-besides turning down the level / volume? Thanks.
I appreciate your “friend next door with icy lemonade” kind of style! The more I learn about boss pedals and the dishonest way the company advertises the more I want to stay away. I ordered the 500 but it came dead on arrival and now I’m glad. I’ve been considering the rc10r but not anymore. I will stick with the digitech Trioplus. I wanted to trade it in because I thought it was old technology, (it doesn’t do wav files but I’ve worked around that by recording into my tiny 32 bit float recorder) but boss stuff seems unnecessarily complex and costly. Thanks again for your cold lemonade in the face and the warm candor! You’ve got a new sub!
Nice Vid. When using the loop only (not with a rhythm track) is there anyway to have a soft fade out stop? The fade out seems to only apply on the Rhythm, or am I missing something?
I've had MANY loopers, three this year alone..... boss my favorite. I've purchased two RC-5 about a year apart. This second one seems to have a volume issue with the drum tracks being excessivly LOUD! since I never experienced the problem with the first RC-5 ..... I'm gluessing the second one might be damaged? I have tried finding a global volume control with no avail. I ran a factory reset twice, with no change. I hate to sell it and pass on the problem to someone else, I also hate to take a $175 dollar loss! Any thoughts?
Kudos for tackling the specifics. My question is, is there a way that if I hit the fs5u even at the middle of the loop, it would finish the loop/phrase then it clears everything? thanks!
You are right the looper is frustrating however I blame BOSS. Not enough information on how to use for us novices. Admittingly learned more from your video than any other. The BOSS site has a fella basically playing with little information. As for accessories, this again is a PIA as there is no site that gives you the straight information. Thanks for the info that I have been looking for the past 2 weeks. Semper Fi
Hi Help appreciated. Can I have different RHYTHM CTRL 1-3 set on individual phrases (patches?) or is this only a universal setting which dictates the RHYTHM CTRL for all patches? I want RHYTHM CTRL 3 generally but for some songs I want RHYTHM CTRL 1 or 2. Is this possible? Thank you.
Thanks for the comment. Thanks for pointing out the PTN. In the manual it states "The rhythm part that is playing and the looper track that is recording, playing, or overdubbing are shown in the center of each indicator." I must have internalized the reference "part". Logically they are the same, but that cracks me up that I kept saying that.
Great info. If I’m playing along with a rhythm and in the middle or end of the song I want to create a loop with the rhythm(sync). Is this an option . It doesn’t seem be?
Help! 1.The rc5 reads your loop and adds a rhythm track… the rc10r can’t from what I can tell. Why not? As a singer songwriter this makes it non usuable in live performance. Is there anyway to do this? 2. Is there anyway to erase a pattern without hearing it play aloud for 2 sec. I see this is the same on both of these units. A is me? Is there a workaround? Thanks so much for your vids! Jeremiah
One thing overlooked by so many reviewers of loop pedals is the emphasis on the sound of the drums. Some loopers have some pretty awful drum options. The RC-10’s drum sounds are pretty decent. It sounds closer to a real drummer.
Do you know if you can erase a loop without it being audible? Example: you record a loop live but make a mistake and want to try again but dont want audience to hear it being played back for few seconds while it erases
I use a midi controller and program each button on the controller to do one job. You can assign loop erase to one of the controls and it does so instantly. Trying to do everything with the two buttons on the unit is cumbersome and not practical when doing things on the fly.
Hey! ☝🏾🤨Just “Jedi Master” this BAD ASS Boss Looper (w/ a Foot Switch & Midi Controller❗️) ..and you’ll be Jammin’ & havin’ BIG FUN‼️✨🎛🎵🎸🔊🔉 KILLER when you’ve hooked it up to a PA in STEREO‼️👍🏾🤣👌🏾
Boss still haven’t finessed their loopers , they are overly complex and difficult to understand unlike the Aeros loop station which seems so intuitive . I will be upgrading my Boss RC2 to an Aeros

Any idea how to save a track? I am afraid to lose what I currently have looped and can't figure out how to save it.
Thanks for this tutorial. I was getting frustrated with not being able to record track 2 properly but now I know how to do it. Great stuff.

Thank you for this. I bought this looper a few months ago, and your video helped me understand and figure it out easier...👍

Agree 100% I had no idea the sync features this thing offered until I saw this video...
This really helped as the manual is HUGE and very complex. Thank you!

i love the way track 2 works including starting on 1.
Thanks for the vid, was going mad on how to edit track 2!
Great tutorial! Was an eye opener for me. Your video really shows how great a pedal the RC-10R can be. Many thanks!
I appreciate your “friend next door with icy lemonade” kind of style! The more I learn about boss pedals and the dishonest way the company advertises the more I want to stay away. Still just using the Trio +??? 😏
Great demo; influenced my purchase!
Hi Reids Revie can i use a looper straight to my amp or do I need other gadgets to use the loop
You can actually switch to track 2 by pressing both the rhythm and loop switches at same time
Great video I wish you showed how to store rhythms and loops and then call them up for a live gig but other than that very informative.
just purchased my new RC-10R. Great practical and clear comments - thank you .
😮😮😮 Great info ...thanks. Very helpful taught me how to work track 2 in separate.
Nice Vid. When using the loop only (not with a rhythm track) is there anyway to have a soft fade out stop? The fade out seems to only apply on the Rhythm, or am I missing something?
Thank you. You actually gave a lot more information than the brand does. Rather, even the paid professionals demos go over the head. Thank you again.
I've had MANY loopers, three this year alone..... boss my favorite. I've purchased two RC-5 about a year apart. THANK YOU FOR THE CLASS!
Thanks...this was really helpful as I've just ordered the pedal.. Quick question...can you download samples for this pedal with drum and bass parts?
Looks like Boss has a site called tone central that may have a few... bosstonecentral.com/trackset/category/rc-10r/
Kudos for tackling the specifics. My question is, is there a way that if I hit the fs5u even at the middle of the loop, it would finish the loop/phrase then it clears everything? thanks!
Excellent explanation, I enjoyed it, thanks!

Hi, I know it’s been a while but I’m having trouble getting into the 3/4 time signature drum loops. They in the manual but not in the looper.
Thanks for the patience. Question: Can you export the full song including drum tracks? If so, in what format?
Terrific Tutorial! Thx!
Hi Help appreciated.

I want RHYTHM CTRL 3 generally but for some songs I want RHYTHM CTRL 1 or 2. Is this possible?
Thank you.
After you play a song, how do you switch to the next song if you've got them ordered for a live show?
Is there a way the track1/drums are in sync, but also the play/stop are independent one of each other?
Thanks. Much clearer. Boss can improve the RC-10R by updating firmware, right?
Yes, I think they can make some incremental improvements. I know they've fixed some bugs with firmware updates.
Here’s hoping! I bought this pedal, but had surgery so haven’t played with it yet.
This is the best explanation and instructional video I have seen for this pedal. Thanks.
Great demo. Kind of how I work.. just a small comment and not important but lol PTN stands for pattern not part 😄
Thanks for the comment. Thanks for pointing out the PTN. is there any way to adjust velocity /dynamics of the rhythm tracks ??
cheers

Have you had any problems with this Looper introducing more hum than without it? Solutions?
One thing overlooked by so many reviewers of loop pedals is the emphasis on the sound of the drums. Some loopers have some pretty awful drum options. The RC-10’s drum sounds are pretty decent. It sounds closer to a real drummer.
You didn’t explain about if the unit as banks to store different loops? You mention 99 banks 😮😮
Do you know if you can erase a loop without it being audible? Example: you record a loop live but make a mistake and want to try again but dont want audience to hear it being played back for few seconds while it erases
Yes I would like to know that too as it is a bit annoying.
I use a midi controller and program each button on the controller to do one job. You can assign loop erase to one of the controls and it does so instantly. Trying to do everything with the two buttons on the unit is cumbersome and not practical when doing things on the fly.
🙏Please, explain series and parallel modes.

Good grief. My brain hurts. Thanks for your help. One day, l might understand it all. Total newbie 😆

Can you do a video on how to use the rhythm converter??
I'll put that down on my list :) Thanks for the request.
@@ReidsReviews thanks for the response!! That would be very helpful!
Thanks 👏👏👏🙏🇧🇷
👍👍👍
Midi implementation is very poor on Boss RC-10R. Beatbuddy as a full midi implementation. There is also no ios app.
Kin L what a highly intuitive device, do not use after beer..
🤘👍
So why would tou want to record anything without starting the rhythm first? In a studio, youd at least have a click track to keep the time.
Have tried auto sync?
I have not tried the auto sync via midi or usb.
Boss still haven’t finessed their loopers , they are overly complex and difficult to understand unlike the Aeros loop station which seems so intuitive . I will be upgrading my Boss RC2 to an Aeros
I have now actually bought the RC 10 R amazingly it seems the most intuitive of all their loopers
Two tracks isn't enough. Three minimum is necessary, without drums.
Omg, how did boss even come to release this unit? Expect to find this in the bargain bin in th near future lol
Just like all their other pedals and products right ? Sarc
Only thick would return it.
It's just great
Left me more confused... Terrible
Thx for this
