Love my $30 gem of a find. I figured I was missing something. Well, what do you know. I just found the screws in the parts case. So happy to have all parts and they are working.
Thank you. Just received another Elna SP that did not have it's cover on correctly and for the life of me I could not remember how it goes on correctly. Not I can confidently fix it and put it in my car to take home.
Thank you for mentioning the screw dimensions. I don't have 'em. I have an earlier model Supermatic with a later case (exactly like yours). It all works fine together, though.
It's also interesting to see how many different versions of those cases there are -- at least three, the one with the latch on the top and the folding base, the one you show here, and the one I have, similiar to this one but with a different type of handle attached to the back half (and a different interior, being for a knee lever machine). Just thinking of the effort they put into the design and tooling for this not-so-important part of the machine...
Hi thank you for a very informative demo. These Elnas were and are fantastic machines . I had an Elna SU and an Elna tsp in the early 1970s For many years they were work horses and never any problems. I emigrated to the UK from South Africa and had to sell my machines, very sad. I thought I needed a new good machine and went for a Bernina 330. I have never been so disappointed. How Bernina and Elna degraded by going to the far east for manufacturing, is sad. If you are used to Swiss made machine, I don't think it is possible to get used to these new flimsy machines with all the bells and whistles that I don't need. I bought a Elna tsp on Ebay, taking a chance and was very excited, but the bobbin shuttle doesn't move. Do you have any video or know of mechanics in the Cambridgeshire area that could help. Being such uncomplicated Machines I am hoping to get the machine going. The motor sounds smooth and for a 47ish year old machine still in good nick. I would appreciate any help. Regards Anita

Thank you so much. I just bought one local and she said the case was broke, but I found your video and it was user error, not broken😁
Great!

The front panel of the case can also be used as a sewing table by sliding the cutout for the closing latch over the free arm.
Yes, that's a handy feature. Thanks.
Cool! I have the older green and brown versions, but not blue. Something to keep an eye out for. Thanks.
Thanks. Good luck finding the blue Supermatic.
I just got the pink one! For free! Thank you for the tutorials @InStitches
