As a musician myself who's also totally obsessed with others' work, observing your mastery in the making had me literally drooling. This song is a MASTERPIECE, as a song. As a record, it is also an ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE. It's a piece of the Master. It's evidence of your mastery and Evidence of the Master. This is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written. To the point where the word beautiful (which I love) somehow falls short. I wish we were friends. I've been a musician all my life and working with someone like you would be the pinnacle of completeness for me, I swear. Thank you from the bottom of my soul for sharing your process here. And for writing and recording this song. Please do more of this. To whatever degree you can handle the feeling of having your process out in the open for us to share with you. This brings me back to the Parachutes album by Coldplay, in the best possible way.
Here I've been all this time convincing myself I need a good mic for acoustic guitar because I'm convinced I can't get a good sound from my SM7B. I'd never have guessed that you recorded the guitar with that. Thanks for proving me wrong! Also, love the song. It feels like it's written for me.
So true, I usually grab a nice condenser mic. Sometimes the SM57 does a great job too! But I never thought of using the SM7B as an acoustic guitar mic. Quick tip that maybe will help you get a better sound: Play around with distance and position. Aim the mic where the neck meets the body, 4 to 6 inches away. Sounds too thin? Try 9 to 12 inches away, or maybe aim the mic directly on the body under the neck, just before the sound hole. Have fun recording your guitar!! 😁
Yeah it's crazy because the sm57 and sm7b aren't that different. I've tried a couple of things with the sm7b but I was never satisfied with the sound. It could also be the guitar though, because I really like the sound on this record!
You need to drop a proper video musical for this with proper script and story, this song through a story will be dream come true.....Please release it with some sort of story which will make it more relatable
let's just appreciate the amount of thoughts and efforts alexander puts in for us. please do these "how i made" videos more!
Wonderful song. It rips my soul every time I hear it
This song is amazing! Love the Sparks influence on the verse chords 😊
