First to comment! Nice video showcasing the early years of Drag Racing from my teens. Remember seeing many of these cars at my local tracks here in So Cal. Brings back great memories! Thanks!
I remember those years,.. Saw the Stone Woods & Cook car at Lions and was hooked. It was a beautiful time,. Before computers took over. 1/4 mile racing was more exciting than this 1000 ft. BS. Last race I went to was the Winters in 1988 haven't been back.
Great footage from about 45 years ago, drag racing was booming in those years and was pretty much a household word. Today it's becoming a dying sport with tracks closing left and right along with todays youth having no interest. In the birthplace Southern California, not a single quarter mile exists today for the sportsman and weekend racer. It's now become a thing of the past and no more racing facilities will be built, and with the government along with the EPA's stricter rules we can see the end of hot rodding and racing coming to an end on the horizon.....sad how times have changed, and not for the better.
Came up in the late sixties and seventies watching all of these greats. Wonderful wonderful memories.
