Cole you can’t let dad stop doing the song of the day, he nail’s every time. I guess that me showing my age, but my husband and I are farm folks and love watching you guys. Tell your pops never stop farming.
Thanks for another great video. It was interesting and enjoyable. Busy day with lots going on. Good job treating your herd for eye problems and such. You ran thru them fairly quickly. Good work. Got nine bales off that hay patch. Good going. Looks like good quality hay for your herd. Nice work. Brian thanks for the song of the day. Good music there Brian. Finally got all your gates done. Yeah. They all look good and swing nicely. Good job Cole. About it for now I guess. Busy time. Thanks for everything. The Iowa Farm Boy. Steve.
I use an 8" auger for crosstie posts. I have to push the post in the hole. Often raising the skid steer so a little wiggle with pressure and the post slides in "gooten" tight. I really like the way you & Brian work together. That's the way it used to be & as Brian has said he worked with his dad. My son & I worked together for over 30 years. I retired, now 76 & he is 55. He says he can do or make anything because he learned it from me. I wish I was still young enough to be his helper for a few years. Yes, I see those new gates, the ones that don't drag the ground when operating. Really nice looking calves both in the feed lot and pasture. See ya.
That sprayer looks like it is doing a great job. I don’t understand how you all split the work between the three of you but would like to see Uncle Jeff more. Hope he is well. Thank you Lord for answered prayers and thank you for the rain and clouds that are coming. Amen!
Go ahead and take credit for the fence rails coming out right on the post. You're becoming the South Dakota Gate Master! Sorry the Canadian smoke is back again. We haven't had much of it lately here in eastern Kansas, but the fires are still going up there. Always enjoy your videos, so thanks again for another one.
The end is classic Brian and Cole humor. Abbot and Costello, Laurel and Hardy, Lucy and Ethel, Cheech and Chong -- Brian and Cole give them all a run for their money.
I was helping my friend Jim raking hay with a old Ellis tractor and I hit a badger hole and I thought it was going to flip over, never knew it was there either. God must been looking over me!!🙏🇺🇸
I’ve been watching you two jaspers for three months or so now. Really enjoy the activity on the farm. I am 68 years old and live in southwest Iowa. My parents were both raised on farms and my dad wanted to farm but had a hard time getting that done so he did what he could to be involved. He worked in a Feedmill for over 40 years and at our house thats what we talked about Most of the time was feeding livestock. Keep up the good work.!
Will continue to pray for the moisture the farmers and ranchers need, wherever they are in the USA. Happy to see you happy about a likely third cutting in your fields.
I say it every year, that South Dakota grass must have magic nutrients in it. Those calves look so awesome, the grass must make nutritious milk going through those cows. I can see why Brian wants to keep those bloodlines going, special cattle. Hoping rain comes for your 3rd cutting.
Thank God for those beef prices!!! Are you able to pick that bale of hay up or you going to roll it home???🤣🤣🤣 Good job on your haying!!!! Have a great weekend-
Jimmy Chamberlin the drummer of the Smashing Pumpkins sat behind me freshman year in high school at Joliet Catholic high school. All he wanted to do is drum as a 14-15 year old. He played with a professional band a that young age. JP & the Cats.
I was curious what did Paw think about the tractor that was detailed? Since you never talked about it on camera after the rents got back home from vacation. Glad your getting splashed with some rain. To bad we couldn’t give you some of ours. It’s raining all the time here in SE Michigan, I know the farmers are tickled pink. Im sure bailing hay is frustrating with how we’ve gotten rain.
Hi Cole and Brian, it is so sad that you only processed 10 bales of your alfalfa which is way low compared to average seasons. Do you think you will scale back on stock next year due to not having the usual amount of hay stock? The bought calves look good and you must be happy there wasn't many pink eyes in them. Keep up with your great chioces for 'the song of the day' Brian, I am enjoying them. Great video guys. Chris from Australia 🇦🇺.
Great question, other people have asked if we are low hay then why would i be buying cattle to feed. The answer is feeding cattle is where the profit is right now so we will continue to feed cattle close to capacity until that changes. Thanks!
I think the John Deere bale are one of the best regarding weight of the bale and can see why it was hard to get out , we have Deere bales with our contractor and they have to be three quarters of a ton (7_800kg) , they are packed so tight , and as we pay the contractor per bale it is great value
Glad to see your making good use of all that the lord provides. 🙏 Hope the rest of 2nd cutting is successful. Cole the time of impressing is over Tiffany will be expecting amazing. I don't mean as in it's amazing I married this guy 😅 God Bless Sonne Farms & Families.
Hey Cole! Didja see the note I left at Storla Station back in early July? Too dang bad you were closed, dang it! This ole South Dakota boy, living in Rhode Island, is a big fan of the Sunnys. I grew up in Woonsocket, Huron and Pierre, and spent a fair amount of time on a ranch near McLaughlin. My grandad owned a bunch of acres near Forestburg, mostly alfalfa, some beans and some corn. Our family always looked forward to Forestburg muskmelons. I've been following you boys going on seven years now.
Dad ! You taught your son well ! (imo ) That farm is in good hands ! - Thank you fellos for the killer content & wishin you all the best on a killer harvest
Good that your getting more hay, hopefully the 3rd cut will be more, time will tell. I really like those gates you made, heavy duty and opens easy. Thanks have a nice week!
An interesting choice of Song of the Day from Brian. Billy Corgan released the song in the nineties for the Mellon Collie album, reaching 12 in USA and top twenties in UK. Billy is a few years younger than Brian and the music video shows 'coming of age' teenagers partying and going wild, a different scene from the steady farmwork.
Do you use mineral supplements with garlic in it to help with the fly reduction on the cows. They say it reduces fly count by about 55% allowing the cows to enjoy more time grazing and resting. The way them cows run for them pellets you think they would have called it cow candy.
Brian I’m loving your songs of the day lately. Smashing Pumpkins, inspired. Loved that you know about the Cranberries. Great recommendation. Being a similar vintage and living in SW Ireland and dairy farming, I totally get your point of view. The young lad will get it too Eventually
Really enjoy watching your gate building n fencing work. Quality workmanship without spending a fortune on new supplies. Brings back good memories on the farm in the 50s n 60s. Dad bought a new 220v hotbox Lincoln welder in the 50s. Paid for itself many times over building n repairing equipment. Glad you got some timely rains for the crops. Going to be millions of tons of expensive supply/demand overpriced hay trucked n railed into lower midwest, south, southeast and other moisture starved areas ranchers/farmers trying to keep their cow/calf n feedlot operations going. Have to have digestible fiber roughage in feed mix, not just high carbs grains. Price of the lower quality 20 n 30% fat content hamburger meats in the stores here has drpped at least 25% this summer. Must be lots of extra herd culling n brood cows being dumped on the markets You chopping any of those corn roughage round bales into your winter feed mix to stretch the scarce hay out? Chopped wheat, oats r barley straw in the winter feed mix may also stretch out your hay supply. No rains worth mentioning here since May. Our rains are steady pours, usually lasting hours to days. Seldom have those short duration thunder black storm cloud rain events
Question. What if you did to the pins as you do to the barns. Would that cut down on pink eye, etc? Scrape them down and lime them? Just a question. Take care.
Cole . The shots along side the baler are superb. I'm pretty sure the big green company could use them for sales promos. Good job. Oh. And she can always get another hair curler.
only a bit over 100 acres and as many cattle as you run, you must be sweating bullets to get enough feed. We have irrigated ground and still are hustling to have enough hay. still spraying so the ropes don't do enough
My brother farms in south central Mt & he said his hay was some of the best he's seen... Unlike last yr where it wasnt worth cutting after the 1st cutting... He cut it late in the summer last year & left it lay . He thinks it may have helped this yrs crop...

I love the music with the drone shots - so peaceful.
thank you!
Great video as always Cole
Thanks again!
Cole. Love your videos. No sponsors no BS. Just good farming 👍🏻
So glad I found you folks a few months ago. Hours of enjoyment.
Your cattle always look good. Always good to hear Song of the Day.
awesome video Cole and Mr. B. Thank you both guys
Cole you can’t let dad stop doing the song of the day, he nail’s every time. I guess that me showing my age, but my husband and I are farm folks and love watching you guys. Tell your pops never stop farming.
Certainly can tell that you must have gotten a little rain or in the forecast since the last video. More smiles today. Still praying for y’all.
Cole fences are some really fancy fences!!!
The new gate is a hit!---Very exciting news about the alfalfa.---Show us some views of the corn cobs!
Thanks for another great video. It was interesting and enjoyable.
Busy day with lots going on.

About it for now I guess. Busy time. Thanks for everything.

7/31/23 - Great Video- Really enjoy following all your adventures!

they are impressive i think
I think that triple Hay Baler was one of yall's best investments.
Elly really loves her treats!!
I think you deserve a Oscar!! For the longest bale! And Brian 1 for best supporting actor!!😊😊 Thanks
You are one talented young man, I love the gates , swing wide..
Touching close to home. The farmer behind us raked and baled today. Perdy cool. With equipment 1/4 the size. But still some pretty hefty bales.
Thank God for those beef prices!!! Are you able to pick that bale of hay up or you going to roll it home???🤣🤣🤣 Good job on your haying!!!! Have a great weekend-
Thanks for the video, always looking forward to the next one.
I’m having fun watching the two of you. Keep it up.👍❤️🇨🇦
Have to admit, during the baling I got a little misty eyed, just love that music, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it
Been watching u all for awhile. U guys do awesome job of taking care of your animals. Take care
Great job. Always like the music with the drone footage. Keeping the prayers for rain.
Very interesting info about your alfalfa, ground and bailing

What a great way to start my Friday; with a Cole Sonne video!! Thanks for making my day.
It makes the days go by quicker when the the government informs us that the Mad Cow quarantine period is over and you can purchase dairy cows again.
@@davidobrienirl What’s that about?
Its Monday!
@@phil6465 ?
It's great to see 2nd crop coming in, good luck on a great 3rd crop and plenty of sileage.
The way the season started, thinking about a possible 3rd cutting has got to be encouraging
yes it is!
D
Brian when you told your song of the day. Cole was a weeebit curt. I think an apology is due
Excellent choice for song of the day Brian.
The swather, rake, and bailer are prob my fav to watch on your farm. Keep up the good camera work!
Thank you very much for explaining what to do when the hay is a bit wet. I am learning so much from you. Hope to someday know as much as you.
Your vids are one of the few i don’t speed up! Great job!
Awesome! Thank you!

New sub here ,been binge watching your videos, great cow/calf operation!
🇺🇸🇨🇱
Love when your dad does the song of the day😍
Hey Cole, what was the reaction to the detailed and rejuvenated paint on the big tractor? I saw it in action but no Words of praise.
Happy Longest Bale Day!
Another great video! Love Bryan's song of the day!

Ellie: Duh...
Glad you the fencing work done. Hope you get a Third cutting of hay. Hope you got plenty of hay. Take Care be safe working on the farm Out
I like the set up spraying your cows. What kind of insecticide where you using on them. Keep up the videos
Love watching baler and combines thanks cole and brian 🙏💕🥰🥰
thank you
Keep putting out good videos I enjoy watching them you guys have a good day
Makes sense to me. The longest bale on how thin the hay is takes awhile. Have a great day.
great gates. I wonder how many times/year you open gates - big time saver if they are excellent.

He loved it!
You tell your dad about eating the dog biscuit thanking it was a cookie lol
Maybe a nice merger machine would help, especially if it’s looking like dry weather is becoming the norm…thx for the video !!
Just got a 2nd cutting here too! Praying for rain to get a great 3rd cut!!
Fingers crossed!
Liked and subscribe sir, thanks and greetings from a Dutch dairyfarmer
