@@EricAndTaylor yes at that time the winds were mainly from the south now the temperatures has been mid to late 20's celsius the rivers have been warm as well.
It really nice seeing people getting out and enjoying the wonders of NZ even with the weather being very changeable. Just a note it really is a big no no in protocol to take firewood from the doc or any hut, unless it was for an emergency. Imagine trampers arriving at the hut soaked to the skin only to fine the potential dry wood gone. Protocol is if using wood try to replace if possible and this is only if you are paying and staying in the hut. Welcome to visiting New Zealand but think of others.
