The inescapable wrath is interesting because as much as you dont get the "charge bonus", if you use it into an enemy unit that hasnt charged, youd still fight before them which is nice
With illuminating fire if you combo any deathwing character with a unit for example hellblasters they also benefit from this strat combo with a LT and you get Lethals, Sustains (if with Azrael), and +1 to wound over charging with AP-3 and 2 damage each its pretty nasty.
New to the hobby and have started a dark angels army. Thematically I really enjoy the DA and this detachment seems really interesting. I’m hoping that this detachment is competitive to some degree. Seeing you guys present it in a positive light makes me feel more sane as there has been a ton of negativity towards its reception.
This detachment is absolutely competitive. People are just complaining because it doesn't break the game, and it doesn't fix some of the problems that are just inherently baked into some of the key datasheets of the Dark Angels. Personally? I love this detachment, and I really want to play it.
The brutalis dread isnt getting enough attention, the pseudo heroic intervention giving movement, a hammer of wrath, and fights first is saucy. Besides the +2 to charge
@Michael....if I use inescapable Wrath, don't I still fight first? Because by the time the Fights Phase rolls around, my opponents unit (and my target) does not have FF (since he was charged rather than doing the charging) therefore as the non active player I would attack first.
Do you think this detachment adds more value to the dark angel aircraft? With there large foot print, will it be worth moving it 20 inches, then charging a unit or 2 to set up deathwing for charges?
I find it funny that people are going gaga over the extra OC enhancement and for the battleshock rules in this detachment. Meanwhile there are detahcments like Unforgiven Task Force that already give you extra OC nd have extra OC options or the Night Lords detachment that lets you spam battleshock all over the place. People called those detachments trash but are glazing this one. I like this one a lot but I just find it funny. Unforgiven even already has a +1 damage enhancement which is better than the one here.
Its important to stress that Inescapable Wrath IS the best strat here, because the unit that uses it DOES fight first, due to being the defender. The mind games this creates for opponents is the biggest benefit, and 2CP is fine to threaten with Azrael hanging out
A 60 point ATV driving up in your face and shooting you giving all the tanks, dreadnought and terminators plus 1 to wound isn't the stars aligning lmao that's pretty easy. and then shoving that said 60 model into combat so your deep striking terminators have an easier charge also isn't hard. basic 40k really.
@blakebolin8120 Yeah while pulling all these cool two unit required combos off who's scoring your secondaries? You got two units tied up to give terminators +2 on a charge roll. It's a game of points remember.
@BenjaminHolbrook-tz6pw oh it is and when a single balistus ruins any vehicle you have bc an ATV shot at you. (That ATV has two melta shots as well) Those terminators get to deep strike and engage else were. It frees up those terminators to go score all the points I need bc the things that are good at killing them are dead. The army is that strat with some sprinkles on top.
@@blakebolin8120 5"move terminators must be faster in your army than mine. Bottom line a rule set requiring two units to work in unison to achieve a mediocre effect will never be comparable to a single unit in another detachment bring able to accomplish similar effect on it's own.
@BenjaminHolbrook-tz6pw they do actually beacuse I put 1 squad into a land raider and give the other the up down Enhancement so they do move faster then yours lmao sorry you couldn't think of a way to get around the slow movement. And by your logic how did talons of the emperor win world's? It requires two units to key off each other but they hardly used that ability. If your logic was sound, which it isn't that mediocre detachment should have lost every game but it didn't. 🤷 it's a game of player skill, remember.

Primarchs should have the keywords of his chapter
Justice for dark angels woho
😆 we did sayyy 😛
Deathwing knights with a captain makes inescapable wrath 1cp, that unit gets major force projection.

Its pretty good! Nothing crazy but it certainly isnt bad

What am I missing on inescapable wrath? It looks to me like heroic intervention for 2CP…
It can be used against opponents who haven't charged.
@ interesting, missed that. Thanks :)
Great guy, but i have been a gym rat my whole life, so i get it... but man its getting a little bit funneh with the constant bicep flex.
Wut
It's mediocre at best. To make any of the useful combos work in a meaningful way, the stars need to align.
