The 2.55 MSQ, and that warning you got before starting the cutscene saying that this will take a while. (And the lack of warning for the amount of tears you were about to have XD )
2.5 will always stand in my memory as the patch when Mor Dhona was ruined. There used to be a tree at the crossroads near the token exchangers. Right in front of where the scrip exchange is. In 2.5, they cut the tree down and left that intersection bare. Probably so the merchants were more visible coming up from the aetheryte. I miss that tree.
2.5 was definitely the patch period that got me sucked in. The beginning of arr was definitely a slog especially for someone that had absolutely no idea what was happening story wise. I will say though, the old ARR level 50 dungeons were quite difficult back then and even before the revamp. Copperbell mines hard mode gave me PTSD 🤣
"Many cutscenes will play in sequence. It is suggested you set aside sufficient time to view these scenes in their entirety." A phrase that all WoL would learn to fear.
The 2.x era is something that I feel that I look back on with rose tinted glasses. I think besides now, that was the time I played the most with HW and SB being the least. It always felt like a magical time getting a new update and seeing how the world would change next, especially in Mor Dhona. As a PLD main who only really did dungeons though, worst time of my life and glad it's gone!
I agree with you that there wasn’t much to do in 2.5 after you got your stuff done. I actually quit for a while in that patch. Didn’t come back until 5.3 lol.
its a much much better experience in this game to quit for a long period of time like that and come back when you have a surplus of content to enjoy imo, you lose out on playing endgame duties when relevant sure but you also have more than 1 months worth of content
I never knew that Mor Dhona was build up over time! This makes me want them to do the same to the crystarium at some point. There is so much empty space at that place and it would be amazing if we went back there at some point and it would look different.
I still love and play triple triad, but I remember that after the MSQ you could challenge Tataru to a game at Camp Dragonhead and she had a chance to drop Lightning card, I played so many games against her that I got my trinity title back then (1000 wins with roulette rule) and I never saw the card one. I ended up getting it at a tournament.
I never did pvp in this game until SB when they normalized stats in pvp modes and ditched the wow-esque pvp gear. I didn't even realize slaughter even existed
I bet most ppl didn't know about those tower cannons. Prolly the reason why there was always one person in chat yelling, "CANNONS! GET THE CANNONS!!!!"
The way you are describing 2.5 towards the end of the video, that's how it feels with every patch now, hollow. Yes, the content is fun, but once you are done, there's really no incentive left to continue playing (unless you raid, which the majority doesn't) FFXIV feels so meh right now...
I miss the original Steps of Faith. It was so much fun. I struggled with Keeper of the Lake because I played with 30 fps and I would see AoE markers late and couldnt get out of them
I really enjoyed Keeper of the Lake and wish they would stop reworking all the dungeons effectively making it impossible for the people that enjoy them to continue enjoying them all for the sake of making the game soloable.
This game has really become a single player gake. It always has had an emphasis on it but damn so mamy of features added like data center travel has killed the open areas of the game

Came to say this. That warning had me worried and amazed at what might come.
No tears fell that day….but somehow Ul’Dah managed to not get leveled in a sea of unmitigated hate.

I am still glad these videos are being made. Thank you MrHappy!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who does still get some enjoyment out of World of Darkness

Man Slaughter looks like it would be absolute chaos with all the current LBs

didnt know that " quit for a while" meant 6 years 😂😂😂. I though more in the lenght of a few months.

This was probably my favorite time ever playing this game. Nothing has even come close to how much i enjoyed Eorzea back then.
I thought the last time they said that a mode would be temporarily unavailable was Rival Wings when CC got introduced.
It was

Oh memories!! I started back in 2.5 and have been addicted since ❤
as a newr player who only started in late June i really appreciate vids like this
I’m loving this ‘a blast from the past’ series. 😋👍❤️

Yep, I can agree, the story was amazing. The ending leading to Heavensward was done well. I agree no other x.5 patch has been done such as this.
Stormblood beat it for me, although i can acknowledge the way 2.5 was handled in a higher quality
I started playing this patch, ah takes me back
I actually had a Duty Finder group wipe in WoD on *Chimeras.* Yeah.

I love these series
6:10 how did you get up there? THAT PLACE EXISTED IN THE TRIAL?

When was the Odin fate introduced?
Odin's in the launch trailer for arr so I'm assuming it was 2.0
Was 2.5 also not when glamour prism was changed?
when they were unified? that was in Stormblood
@@rd-um4sp Wow really?? That far along?? So before stormblood you could not use glamour prism but those colored ones?
