The lighting effects that exist up there are part of it for me. It makes everything look like....idk, it's not something you ever see on earth except for very specific situations. Idk how to describe it. Feels....unreal, like another universe.
@@chumon1992 I think it's due to how... artificial everything looks. The shadows are extremely clear and sharp, everything is dark due to the voidness of space, and even if there is any light, it manages to have that "empty" feeling to it... very interesting and unnerving stuff!
@@chumon1992 do you mean like, it gives this vibe of "you shouldn't be here" you get whenever you might play a single player low graphics game when it's dark in game. Just walking around and discovering stuff and finding it boring but also unnerving? Space always gave me this "out of bounds" vibe due to the sheer distance in it.
1:53 this part actually terrifies me even though I'm in love with space. Here it just shows how insignificant and small we truly are in this universe. That ball that looks like it's almost swallowed by darkness is home, and we may never be able to leave around that region in our life time..
my astrophobia started when i had an intrusive thought of the earth suddenly falling at rapid speeds through space, never ending. it actually gave me agoraphobia (the fear of going outside) for a long time, and i couldn't look at the sky in the same way anymore. it's gotten a bit better now. i can go outside, i just can't stand in an open field, or look up at the sky for too long. my parents make fun of me for it, but my friends accept it once i explain. it still freaks me out. i did not do well in the astronomy part of science class.

(vewn's video on agoraphobia is my favorite video of all time. might help you feel seen if you haven't caught it before.)
@@geisterbilder thanks for the nice reply! i'm improving every day, since i'm honestly just really tired of being afraid all the time. i've been starting to set personal goals for myself. my next goal is to be able to lay down on the beach for a bit, facing the sky. it's gonna be tough, but i think i can take it. :-) (i love vewn, and especially that video! glad to know we share that same interest!)
yo i have a fear of some random cataclysmic event where the gravity doesn’t work anymore and i just start floating up unable to ever come down and i eventually just end up in space and die 😔
I have the exact same fear, i can’t look at the sky for too long, it makes me feel like im falling on the sky and it gives such an intense feeling of fear
in my own _odd_ opinion, space in general is comforting and calming for me. it’s so immense and outlandish that it’s practically natural to have a fear for it, yet it’s so strangely consoling simultaneously. i love it. from its beautiful planets to its breathtaking views of supernovas [and other things related to the sort], it’s a beauty. it’s just as beautiful as your videos! 🌸
stop now before you double the size of my ego. thank you, though. celestial phenomena have long been some of my favorite imagery. i'm glad to have done it justice.
@@geisterbilder -i shall consider such antics. i won’t make any promises, though. it’s hard to omit such perfection.- all compliments aside [for now >:)], i can see celestial imagery being a passion of yours. it’s truly a beauty among many things here. for me, personally, the interest comes from the acknowledgement that i don’t know entirely, therefore it peaks an interest in me, if you catch my drift. So I don't have a fear of space, I actually really like researching about it, but just thinking about how eerie space must be is really getting to me while looking at these pictures...
The creepiest part of astrophobia for me is the fact that these MASSIVE planets that are beautiful and huge are also completely and utterly dead. Saturn isn’t alive. Saturn didn’t design itself to look that way. It just happened to be there.
I remember this thing, where it was explained why there was no stars in the pictures of space. i dont remember the reason. but it makes me feel better that the stars are there, just not visible in photos
The sheer volume of planets freaks me out, you can look at an image and be like “oh cool” but then it dawns on you that if you were the camera in that scenario, youd be face to face with this gargantuan sphere while the infinite black that is space surrounds you and it for an infinite distance. As you look at this cold, monolithic object tranquilly float on by. Viewing it from that distance would make it appear small. But when you know how small you really are in comparison, it makes it all the scarier to look at. These titans adrift in their gravitational cadence almost seem godlike, their blunt unwavering existence coupled with their size reminds me of the “Blind Idiot God” moniker given to Lovecrafts Azathoth. TLDR space spooky
I started fearing space when I realized it was kinda similar to the ocean (I have Thalassophobia) it's all dark and unknown, I watched this movie called Ad Astra (Spoiler warning this is a really important part of the plot if you haven't watched the movie don't read it) and there's a part where the main character flies right next to Neptune and its big af compared to the tiny ship then near the end the main character's dad flies away until you can't see him and that terrified me, were nothing compared to what's out there that we haven't explored but I just can't stop looking at it
I don't fear space itself, I fear dying in space. I fear going into space. I think that its pretty to look at, but the thought of going in there, to somewhere where no one can help you if you're alone, its horrifying to me.
I have such a weird relationship with the idea of space/being in space. Space itself is kinda unnerving to me knowing that at one point there might just be an abyss. Not to mention the whole chemistry aspect is horrifiying. The idea of veing lost in space. Weither a celestial object of the cold vaccuum. But at the same time, theres also a sensebof comfort in some aspects of those ideas to me. I remember once having this dream i had a button that could bring me to this asteroid msde out of grey stone that orbited jupiter for some reason ( jupiter wadnt visible or anything it just was said in the dream) and it was cold but not too cold. Despite being so outlandish it gave me a kind of nice comfort being able to realize thaf humans might be able to experience perapectives other than the ones gicen by earths foundations
I don't have this phobia but I do genuinely get some other fears triggered by space. Fear of the unknown and a kind of megalophobia, agoraphobia etc I feel like I am stuck on this planet and I cannot do anything if the universe decides to destroy us all
I actually have really bad astrophobia. Just looking up at the galaxy on a good night can trigger it. I am truly fascinated by it, though equally terrified of it. I seem to be able to handle it as long as it's just photos
I love talking and studying about space, but at the same time I'm scared lol, reasons are that the Universe is giant, dark and nobody knows what's beyond. And you wouldn't want to be up front with a giant and violent planet in the middle of a complete void where everything is cold and you don't know what tek is under your feet, what can sometimes be there and not be visible because the matter is dark.
Ngl, the main fears of space are exactly why i love it so much. Endless and unfathomable, and therefore infinitely explorable. The idea of everything being finite and compact feels almost claustrophobic, so I'm kinda thankful for the void of space to be there. Also I think it'd be surreal to float, alone, through the cosmos. No sense of time, no urgency, no conflict or pressure. Just you and your drifting hull. Like a kind of ideal and serene afterlife. But that's just my views on space, not downplaying anyone that's afraid of it, it makes sense to be lol
personally, it's immensely comforting to imagine that we're the only life in the universe, bound to die and leave space dead in our wake. let it rest for awhile.
I love the space but at the same time i'm scared of It. I am more scared if they move, the images do not usually scare me unless I see them for a long time.
I have astrophobia too because I'm scared of Jupiter when the Strom comes and the space are really dark so some astronaut stay at their iss space station and the most terrifying sounds is block holes collided Is more scary to hear pal
