    First one to comment. So proud. I'm planning on scalping my yard in a couple weeks. We still have lows in the 40s in my 10 day forecase.

    One thought: Cut with a rotary mower (or reel mower if you have a bag attachment for it) and bag the clippings at the same time. That way, you collect many weed seeds, rather than risk them working down into the soil.
    I used to scalp my lawn too early, thinking it would help the sun get to the Bermuda and help it green up earlier. The problem was, it just gave the Poa Annua the chance to really take off. So, I’m waiting this year until later, when the Bermuda is greening up more, as you explain here. 😃👍🏼

    Regarding the split Pre-emergent treatment. You’ve said a benefit to the 2nd application is that it’s performed after your scalp when you’ve disturbed a lot of weed/poanna/crab seed. In this video, you didn’t mention the 2nd PE app post scalp. I’ve been confused by this as you’ve said “don’t put a negative down” during transition. I would appreciate if you can clarify the timing. I live in Charlotte NC and this is my rough plan using Apr 20 as my “52-degree soil date”:
    3/15-3/30:humichar & 10-10-10
    4/5: PE #1
    4/20: full scalp/level/first PGF 16-4-8
    5/5: PE #2
    This plan puts my PE#2 (which includes a negative) down after I put my first PGF 16-4-8 down.
    These dates right?

    Doc..couple of questions.
    1. I’m in Texas north of Dallas and we have had a ton of rain on top of the snow. My yard is soaked! And I have some drainage issues, and possibly more rain on the way. I have received my pre-emergent from Anderson’s but I’m trying to find a good time to put it down. I’m afraid If I keep waiting, it will keep raining and then it will be too late. Any suggestions?
    2. How long after you apply pre emergent can you do a scalp?
    Thanks for all you do!

    DOC, I've got a 2500 sq/ft Bermuda grass yard. How much of the pre emergent do I spread out in lbs. I dont understand all of the complicated instructions on the Anderson's bag lol.

    • @johannsalas7050
      @johannsalas7050 3 года назад

      You can apply 1.8 lbs - 7.2 lbs per sqf
      Take what ever you feel comfortable with spreading and multiply by 2.5 for your 2500 sqf
