I realize that some people may actually prefer the sound, but I have to wonder if the current trend toward mahogany tops is driven in part by price and availability of suitable cuts of spruce and cedar.
Cheers mate, am considering getting one, currently £89.00 new on ebay, seems like a fair price considering how lovely it looks, whack some nice strings on it then good to go 👍🏻🎸
Hi, nice review! I find myself veering between this & the Gretsch Jim Dandy, have you tried that one too? I assume the Gretsch is a bit higher quality, but the £ savings on this one do appeal, meaning more money in the bank for another guitar ha ha! Appreciate any thoughts you might have, ta!
Great thanks, I have opted for the Statesboro so fingers crossed. I had signed up for a guitar maintenance module on Udemy, 2nd module is on guitar set up so looks like I will need that one too, hopefully save me money n the long run!
Have both! I have a Jim Dandy as well as the Vintage, the Vintage has a slightly sweeter tone and the Gretsch is a little more clanky with a shorter scale. Keep the Vintage in open D and the Gretsch in open G and you're sorted!
'small' but pretty sound. I made it to intermediate classical level and nail-play. That is when a steel string really sounds best. The cheap ($350 NEW ) Guild with padded Guild bag and electronics is one of the nicest VERY cheap China guitar I have seen. D in VA
Hi, did you adjust the action much after getting your guitar? I've just got one and i'm not incredibly experienced but I'm thinking of lowering the action at the bridge on mine, it'll be the first time I've done this on my guitar but I'm just wondering if you recommended the same thing. Thanks and great video!
@@FlowforthInstruments no doubt as it cost 3 times more but i dont have the cash . especially in these time. vintage ordered. i needed only to have it around as all the other guitars are expensive and i need one that can stay always on the sofa not in gigbag or hard case . cheers
What is the build quality like after a few months of owning? Another comment said the top had started to warp after a month and compromised the action after the bridge started lifting. Any problems with yours so far?
@@stuartlawler2411 why not remove the strings, pop out the nut and bridge and sand some off the bottom of them thus lowering the action. At this price range I wouldn't be too worried about making it more playable.
is it just me or, these laminate all mahogany guitars, sounds as good as solid top guitars of nearly twice the price, i still like the cheaper ones more and 3njoy playing them more. thanks for the video
@@FlowforthInstruments they seem have special tone to them, regardless of the (wood ageing concept). I played Ibanez pf parlour few years ago, sounded one of the best I tried
Best wishes for the new year.
Thanks mate.
Where did you get the notion that it has a solid top? The specs I read say it's got a laminate top.
They may have changed the specs. I no longer have it but I'm fairly sure it was solid.

Possibly - but there are still more choices for spruce topped instruments.

You will likely have to do some set up but they are decent.
Nuts how they can make a guitar and profit for under a hundred quid.. 🤘🤯
I’m not sure if I should get this or the bigger version, is there much difference
I think the bigger models will have more volume and projection - less sweetness.
That's a very nice guitar! I didn't know that "Vintage" guitars were from the UK. Also I didn't know they made acoustics. Very nice!
The company is - but they are made in Asia like everything else. They make good acoustics.
Great vid. Thanks 👍🏻
Cheers Mr. Lion.

Ordered one yesterday 👍🏼
Ryan Llewellyn do you like it?i am tempted
Just got it and I was really nervous tuning it for the first time😬
What's up with the tuners?
I hope you got it dialed in. They tend to need some set up.
@@TheTruth70777 nothing, it’s just tuning a guitar for the first time, scary

Yes, Guild makes some nice mahogany smaller body guitars.

Yes, I had to do quite a lot of set up to both models of these guitars that I reviewed.
Could I use this if I am a total beginner?
Certainly - but understand that these guitars usually come needing set up.
nice review , i am thinking to buy one if you recommend .
be safe out there with this covid 19
See my review on the James Neligan LIS-P parlor - much better guitar!

No problèmes with warping and lifting... slightly bad neck angle and not enough room in the saddle to adjust was the main problem.
Great Video! Bought the Dread version of this. Would you recommend Phosphor bronze elixir strings on this or D’Dario strings?
I like Elixir Polywebs...
Nice nice nice
Thanks for watching.
Thanks for sharing. It holds its own!.....Before you send it off..would you play by Guy Clark, THE GUITAR . Please! Happy New Years!!)
Very cool! Didn't know Vintage made acoustic guitars. A beauty! Happy New Year, Mate!
Another world to explore. Happy New Year!
The action looks pretty high... I'm thinking about buying one of these but that's a real concern.
Yes, that was the case on the one I had. Luckily it sold to a blues player that wanted a good action to dig into.
@@FlowforthInstruments thanks for the reply man, I have tendonitis so probably just gonna have to save up for a more expensive parlour guitar.

@@mywaveinwoodswoodperfumes True - I'll be reviewing a Washburn parlour soon.
I do prefer the darker sound of a mahogany instrument
Mahogany parlors are really popular at the moment!
Aluminium! I'm an American who prefers your spelling, so thanks!
Ha - Thanks for watching!
It's cool looking but it's a shame it isn't a boat neck V as it should be
Ha - you need an old Washburn for that.
I bought me a v660 MK what a great guitar
I'd like to check out one or two more.
