- The Medic, made by MyMedic, is by far the biggest medical kit I have ever reviewed on this channel. Filled to the brim with both life saving equipment and comfort items, this "medic bag" has something for everything but still falls short in several areas. Hey Sam, I don’t think people will be hiking this pack around too much. The target audience for sale would be groups like YMCA of the Rockies and other summer camps where they need to treat everything top to bottom and often times a lot of it. Anyway, I could be off, but that is the type of customer I could see buying a product like this.

I wouldn’t recommend this kit it’s honestly a hot mess. 1. It looks heavy and cumbersome. What MyMedic does right is looking cool. The marketing is great. The organization, contents, and design… hot garbage. I have a kit half this size, looks cooler, and is more capable. Save your money.
@@davidblack9071 They have a bunch of different options, this option might be good for remote locations during different times of the year depending if First Responders can get to you or not

Electrolytes are really important, since it is what plants crave.
If I was to purchase something like this, I'd still have to go with Refuge Medical. They have a field bag for $400 cheaper with all the gear or the STOMP which is all that and a better quality backpack/equipment for $1700.
My Medic looks dope, but they charge too much for what they offer.

It would have been great, if they had made the internal compartment in different colours to differentiate the OBS from Medicine from Bleeding etc. Or a place where to write what is what. I found out that it is so helpful to have everything clearly indicated.
Sorry if someone passed away, thank you for ur service as always. Definitely want to keep 3rd degree acid and electric burns dry but skin might peel when removing dressing. Believe those are Crile-Wood needle holders for suture which is cool to see. Thx for doing the reading also.

on subject additions a subtraction I agree removing the OPA's and then I would add an Pocket BVM in that pocket Also any body that has ever had stitches to close a laceration would need some local anesthetic Lidocaine 2% /w epinephrine unless they are really tough I sure could not with out it local
Would you consider reviewing a Chinook Medical kit? The more civilian kits they have are the home and vehicle plus kit, expedition kit and some others I think you would like to review!
I agree. Chinook kits are pretty good and it would be good to see them on here.
@@Doc_Eganindeed I personally own the expedition kit, took some things out, added a few things.but it’s in my vehicle. Everything from bumps and scraps to major bleeding it can handle it
@prepmedic can you expand on your comment about NOT reducing swelling with ice to a traumatic injury? I know it's more of a comfort intervention but I was unable to find anything that said to not treat the swelling. Good video, thanks!
It depends on the mechanism of injury and degree thereof. It was once thought to enhance recovery by limiting local inflammation, but upon retrospective analysis it has been found that it prolongs recovery time.
Really failing to see what justifies the $1400 price tag on this
Also, I'm convinced all the extra packaging is just there to make it look like there is physically more stuff in the bag than there actually is.
Bingo. I use their kit list to build out mind and if you buy in bulk from manufacturer then you could build out 4-5 kits for the same price...
Dear Prepmedic I am hearing impaired and wondered what kind of electric blood pressure instrument you would recommend?? Not completely deaf but only haves about 30% hearing in one ear. Thanks and love your video's!!
Video suggestion!! could you do a video an a kit you would use for ski patrol if you were to do it again with the equipment for somone of that level of training

I just got one about a week ago using FSA money I was going to lose. When I got it I was very suprised with how much was in it and was pretty impressed. But I did have to reorganize the pack to make everything make sense to where everything is located. I also had to drastically lighten the load of how much of each item I carried in it. Being in first response I learned for me personally I like to keep my kit light cause having everything under the sun is useless if you can’t find it, know how to use it, or even if you can’t get it out of the pockets cause there’s so much crap in there. I’m keeping the extra stuff as a backfill incase I use anything but if your like me and you know what works for you, and know how to use the stuff in here then I think this can be great for a first responder to carry. I got the Medic Sidekick that I carry EDC and the Medic bag would be more for if there was a active shooter or casualty situation in my area, I just keep it at my house

Hey Sam...have you had an opportunity to review/research the Refuge Medical products? They seem to be pretty handy for immediate management of care for non-certified, but situationally trained individuals. I was a corpsman and paramedic YEARS ago, so not up to date on proto or newer gear; however those products seem to be a nifty crafted and stocked walk/drive about readiness kit.
What’s your opinion on products from rhino rescue? Not necessarily their tourniquets but some of their other gear like gauze and chest seals.

hey, I have a question... I know that you sometimes use a vacuum sealer for equipment and I wanted to ask which one and how you prepare the bags so that they are easy to open^^

Is the exterior wipe clean? All that MOLLE seems like a great place to get a tonne of nasty, and write off the bag after a single big event.
Have you checked out the kits from Chinook Medical? Not affiliated but was I'm thinking of some of their kits. Thanks for another great review!

I'll be the one to say it, I want a head to head with My Medic vs Refuge's STOMP (new 2.5 is out), and/or The field medic. I have a gen 1 STOMP from them so I'm biased.
From my more limited experience I would prefer Cat TQs followed by SOFt
I think this more of better to have it and not need it vs you need and don’t have it type of situation you have it but pray you never have to use it on the massive bleeding side of things
Also I would rearrange the massive bleeding supplies to one of the from areas for ease of access
Except there is a lot here that is just plain not needed and frankly just dumb. Like the skin stapler. Ditch that. C collar gone. Rats tourniquet gone.

This kit would be good for someone that doesn’t know what they want in med kid. Me, personally I would buy single items and build it up w multiple of same items
Refuge Medical is where it’s at.
That's a good all purpose kit. Gotta ditch the RATS "tourniquet", burn treatment and peroxide though. I'm glad they added a real tourniquet with the SOFT. This kit really is designed for someone with professional training as a Medic or Corpsman. For civilian use it would be for a medically trained person who is going to be in an isolated location, adventure sports, 3rd world country operations, remote living or TEOTWAKI/WROL. I'm not a fan of how the bag opens and the pocket situation. The pockets limit your opions if you want to add or adjust what you cary. Most of the contents are similar to the Blackhawk Spec Ops main medical bag I use. Yes, my main bag is very heavy. It is not intended for patrols or hikes. It's really a truck bag that is a small Aid Station in a backpack. It's used when you are setting up a small base of operations before or if you don’t have access to an Aid Station. A lot of the care I have given in the field is Sick Call or minor wound care related. So this bag would have what you need. There are some additions or subtractions I would make based on my trading but overall not bad.
I gotta disagree with you on the Burn Dressing. The tea tree oil ones are amazing. I have used them a bunch. It’s almost magical how well they work. Patients love them. They are widely used in EMS all over the world.
@davidblack9071 they absolutely shouldn’t be used by EMS. The guidance for EMS treatment of burns is absolutely no chemicals or wet dressings. Putting something like that on a patient pins is a great way to get screamed at by a burn doc.
If you are looking for a good burn dressing, look at Silverlon. It is a dry dressing but does some amazing work.

An extensive kit, personally most of it would date expire before I got to use it.
Too many items look the same......example .... chest seals and ice packs both light blue package and placed adjacent.
Yep! I forgot to mention that in the video but the color codes are atrocious and there are so many different colors it’s impossible to keep it straight.

As for somebody who works in a burn unit, please, for the love of God, do not put a wet burn bandage on dry sterile bandages is the best
