We Ranked All 50 States & 5 Territories to live in the USA so you know where to move to and live! Find out which states or territories have the best cities & small towns to live in for 2024!

The United States of America is a very LARGE and DIVERSE country, with hundreds of different types of cultures, cities, and natural scenery. So in order to determine which states and territories are the best (and worst), we analyze a few categories including their economy, climate, cost of living, crime and safety, education, health, and quality of life. I also implemented the pros and cons of each location and my personal experiences as I have lived in 10 and visited 52 of the 55 states and territories on this list!
Whether you want empty space to homestead and buy cheap land, OR live in a big walkable city with plenty of amenities, the US has it all! So my biggest suggestion is to visit these cities, towns, and state before you decide where you want to move to and live.
*Which US State or Territory would YOU want to live in the most?*

I'm British - us Europeans often think of the USA being similar from coast to coast, but this video really hammers home how different the states are. It's mindblowing to me that some states have worse life expectancies than Bangladesh while others are richer than Switzerland!
Excellent comment! I learned a lot from him about USA (more than from my school)
The US is very diverse.
Don’t be fooled by life expectancy data. The number given is an average of all the people. If one state had a large number of men dying from prostate cancer, the state average would be lower, but it would not affect women’s life expectancy. If there is a high homicide rate, the life expectancy would be lowered because most victims are young men, thereby lowering the life expectancy rate. On e again, women’s rate is unaffected. In a state with a high breast cancer death rate, men would not be affected. Averages of anything tell us very little especially when the things measured also differ. All in all, not a very informative video, but good for deterring foreigners.
Yes USA is a very LARGE and DIVERSE, It will very interesting for him to produce a video to compare USA vs Europe vs Asia?
I always culture/standard of living is always determined far more by cities rather than country/state/region. Even within these states living in some areas vs others make huge differences.

Very educational video I must say!
As a resident of northern South Carolina, it’s relatively peaceful here. Most of the bad things in our state are in the central region. The cost of living where I live is very affordable, and the Blue Ridge mountains are beautiful. I can definitely see why people are moving to South Carolina.
The politics and Sharia law. WTH ? Send them home
The military moved me to SC, and no, it’s not the worst places I’ve lived, but it’s a pretty crappy state. It’s overrun by Ohioans, outside of Columbia, Charleston, and Greenville, the state is straight trash and poor. People move here to move close to the beach, which is highly overrated. I can’t wait to leave (grow faster, grandkids)

I lived in Juneau Alaska for about five years with my parents. It did have its ups and downs but what made up for it was a glacier in our backyard, it’s situated in a temperate rainforest and it has some of the best fishing I’ve ever seen. I now live in New Orleans and the only good about it is that your food doesn’t take a week to get here like in Juneau and the downtown skyline. I’ve also lived in other states and was born in Tennessee so I’m more of a rural outdoor kid than a city kid

if you do ever come here, i would recommend virginia, its a very pretty state, it has really nice people, and its great living if you find a good town thats not too tiny
If you are serious about emigrating, do research carefully. Political information is easy to get, but a serious quality of life assessment is another matter. If you are from a first world country with a high cost of living and a cosmopolitan culture, do not move to an economically depressed region…the politics and the culture will be a serious blow.
Guns are everywhere in the USA…often in the hands of irresponsible people. Americans are messy…trash, potholes in the roads…
But if you are realistic, prepared, and curious…you will not be bored.

Having been a Mississippian since 1961 living in Gulfport and Biloxi all that time I appreciate the lack of state tax on my retirement income both SS and pension. While wages are low that can be balanced against cost of living which narrows the gap with higher wage states. Having traveled in my working life I decided I am quite happy here.

I would suggest that when ranking states, an important factor should be net migration rates. If people are moving into a state it should be higher on the list than states where people are leaving.
How do you figure ? Only reason people are moving there is because it’s cheap - why is it cheap? Because of all the issues and lack of opportunity. Theres a reason California, New York, and Washington are expensive - because people are willing to pay more to live there. No ones going to pay California prices in Kentucky, Mississippi, West Virginia, or even Texas (which is why they sell their 1 BR shack in California and get a mansion in Texas).
@@wayoutwest3009And another reasons: retirees. No offense, but they are not helping those aforementioned states to become economically better.
Migration wouldn’t be the greatest metric, the main reason why people leave states is cost of living (ie. California). If California/NYC had Texas prices people would FLOOD back in because they would rather live there than Texas. Cost of living is most certainly an important metric, but it’s not everything (who would want to live in Mississippi?) it’s better to look at it holistically.
I literally watched the old one ,and now i am on watching this one

I was in New Mexico recently for vacation, and seeing your placement of it felt so validating stg. I felt really uncomfortable there and I could never pin down why.

Edit: omg as a Michigander that placement made me almost burst out laughing. I kinda wasn't expecting to see it so low, but it's a fair placement, and I'm glad you had good things to say about it
Personally I love new mexico and I've never felt uncomfortable there. To each their own
These rankings are good info but doesn't mean places are that bad. Mississippi for example has many nice places and is bogged down by education and city of Jackson being so bad.
new mexico is a downmarket version of arizona
I am glad you touched on the mass construction here in Las Vegas.
As a cab driver it is frustrating.
LOVE the effortless weaving together of jokes and facts lol!
I've lived in Maryland for 54 of my 64 years, and it's fantastic. Not number one in any individual ranking, but in the top ten of every one. "Centrally" located - the beach is 2+ hours away by car, skiing exists in the western part, NY is 5+ hours away, Philly is 2+, Cleveland is 6+ and 7+ hours due south is.. The South. Yes, Baltimore is a blight that I wouldn't wish on any state. But Columbia is a terrific small city and Rockville is just OK, but Annapolis... is awesome. The weather has become more and more unpredictable - probably something very common just about everywhere - but IMHO it's nice getting at least a taste of all the seasons without the extremes being too extreme.
You mentioned almost no snow in Las Vegas. Here in the better city, Reno, we got 6-8 inches of snow last night.
Yeah Reno definitely gets a fair amount as it's right near Lake Tahoe. It usually only snows once every 5-10years in Vegas
Bro, what did us Las Vegas people do to you?
I was in San Diego when snowed so it can happen almost anywhere.
As we know statistics can be found in many places, however Las Vegas averages .3 inches of snow a year. Reno averages around 22 inches. .3 inches per year is not much snow.

As someone who has went to the Virgin Islands I can confirm that there are many cruise ships and every beach is packed with people everywhere but the water is so nice
Wow thats enticing thanks eh ducky?
I’m in Nevada, and I’m fine living here and working full time, but if I ever have a kid, I’d rather raise them in New England. I was born there, and my dad had to move us out because of the job market, but now? What state doesn’t want an experienced bacteriologist? Nevada is said to have all the big city problems and none of the big city benefits, but when they’re between projects, the roads and parking are great. But can you please mark the parking lots a bit better? Or reprogram the Garmins to guide you to them instead of to the front of the buildings?
I lived in Virginia for a while, in the Hampton Roads area, and the commutes and schools were awful. But there’s tons of fun stuff to do on weekends (a zoo, museums, historical Jamestown and Williamsburg, amusement parks and water parks and a beach the whole family can enjoy), so I’d recommend a family vacation there. Bring bug repellent.

Will it be too hard or too much work to produce a video to compare USA vs Europe vs Asia?
Make an video "every state that is a victim of the Detroit effect"
Detroit effect: an effect created by me, the Detroit effect is when an state has only one big city, if you live away from that city your life is Good or avarege, but if you live near or in the city your life is an hell hole, like Michigan whit Detroit or Illinois whit Chicago, the only ways to avoid that effect is, or having more than one big city like California that has San Francisco, LA etc, or not having any big city at all like Vermont
I'm from the northern lower peninsula of Michigan. When I went to Detriot, I barely saw anything "wrong." (Plus, it's getting better there.)
I’ve lived in Reno and would never go to Las Vegas. Pyramid Lake is beautiful . I’ve been here since 1997 and the health care is great and I was a nurse for 52 years. Lake Tahoe is beautiful and the economy is booming. Great Restaurants. Fine people . Lots of wilderness to explore. The Burning Man festival that was once judged has changed the City. The Black Rock desert is incredible and for one week out of the year Black Rock City has a post office and listed as a city. The art community is amazing and many of the art installations are purchased by the city of Reno and displayed for everyone to enjoy. I was born an raised in Wisconsin and Reno has attracted many from my home state. I lived in the North Woods for 13 years, close to the Upper Peninsula and Lake Superior. Yes , the winters were tough at times, but the North Woods area has some of the best cross country skiing trails in the US.
