Make up it is never damaging! Usually it comes with moisturizers, and other active ingredients that will make you look better than people who does not wear skincare stuff or make up :)

Gene and Paul have both even said they do it themselves because it's a great way to meditate before a show and get into "character",
Can you prove that they have makeup artists that do it for them? I've done this MANY times and have seen tribute band apply makeup. They do it themselves and that is why they need 2 hours to do it. In the early days, KISS had to do this everyday for ANYTHING where they needed to be seen and that is how they became so good at making it look as good as it does. It really is not that hard once you know how to do it.
It's definetly true that if Eric and Tommy were their own characters, they would get less flak from the fans and they would view Kiss as more than just a nostalgia act. But what you said make sense as people will always remember Kiss as The Starchild, Demon, Spaceman and Catman.

I dont mean to ask a silly question... but does anyone know exactly what kind of paint (face paint or otherwise) that the members of KISS use to paint their faces with?? Is it the kind of paint that you can pick up for Halloween at your local walmart... or is this a special kind of paint. Just curious.

Dude - do some research/homework. They have always put it on themselves...there's plenty of footage/photos if you go looking for it. And if you go back and look, the makeup didn't always look so hot those first couple of years, (73-74-75). See for yourself. But eventually they got the procedure down, because they did it hundreds and hundreds of times. They've been back at it now with the makeup for 17 years - they know what they're doing. Again, do your research before making accusations.

Eric & Gene, so what IS the process of applying the makeup? why not actually show it step by step? Allow the fans into your dressing room to see the full application process and how you remove it?
Think you need to grow some sense about this myth. There's no way a band headed for a two hour live show, will spend another two hours before that putting on their own make-up tiring their hands. You do the research, please. They sit back and relax while it's put on, I bet. Of course they put in on themselves way back in the early days, but as success grew so grew the entourage and perfect design. They're muscians not natural talent painters. Plenty of footage? No there's not, no whole sessions.

The hired gun eric, yeah he's a good musician. I'm not going to drag on the guys drumming, but honestly, his drumming is 180 difference compared to the sound peter has. To me it doesn't fit the original sound they had. Not saying Erics bad, I just like the vibe from peters drumming better. They sound okay with eric, but they don't play any where near as good as they used to with the original 4.Then again the original four when they got back together were not 20 anymore, just old men past their prime. I've seen enough interviews with eric, he's in it just as peter was in it, for the money. Peter when he started, was for the passion of playing and reaching that goal of fame, and of course money.Then it became about drugs and money and nothing else. The band has lost so much spark it's not even funny. I can't even believe they are wearing those panzy ass elder costumes now days. The show is just a big tv screen and some shitty amps. What happened to the awesome production value with props and staging from the good old days. As a fan i yearn for the simplistic but yet eye catching stage show they once had. Bring back the destroyer/RNR over stage. Wear the hotter then hell costumes. Give ace frehley his 3rd chunk of the piece of the pie, and dress eric singer up as eric car the fox. Retire the catman make up.
With them wearing the Creatures costumes and Eric in that costume but in Cat makeup...well it doesn't make sense or go with that era at all. And Gene's not really wearing that costume either, he's piecing together different eras of costumes. Maybe because he's old and fat now?

I know this was 10 years ago but theres a video of Gene showing how he puts his makeup on his daughter. Don't know about the removal part.
