- Ebro in the Morning sit down with recent 2x Grammy winning Jazz singer Samara Joy. The 23-year old shares her experiences growing up, how her life has changed in recent weeks since winning the Grammys for Best Jazz Vocal Album and Best New Artist, the people she met over the weekend and more.
She also discusses her decision to get into Jazz music, especially at such a young age, the experience she expects to portray at her performances, and some of her favorite music.

Great she recognized Jazzmeia Horn, who won the Thelonius Monk International Jazz Competition. Jazz performers are the greatest. Very few have inflated egos. Love Samara. I have listened to her daily over the last year.
Ok, so I'm in my 70's, and was into jazz as a young woman so you would expect me to be aware of this fabulous young lady. But I've got to tell you how happy I am to see you (Hot 97) doing this interview which probably is introducing the idea of jazz to a whole new audience. Kudos to you, well done. Keep an open mind and you'll never get old.
Samara Joy is supremely talented and wonderful artist in jazz, which I love vocal and non vocal jazz. Joy is a real joy to listen to, I recommend both of her albums.

I think it’s a great thing for her to be interviewed on these hip hop stations. It opens up the possibility to get a whole new audience into her and into jazz in general. Support from WBGO is a given.

I can see an Ice Spice Samara Joy collab that would be lit. They can create a new sound. Drill-Jazz or Jazz-Drill. They can really create something new and something special. If they make that Jazz-Drill type collaboration. They have hip-hop jazz. Why not Jazz-Drill or Drill-Jazz whatever you want to call it. That Collab would be game changing and epic.
