you got it completely right. if I wasn't mistaken, he said in Zach Sang show this album is about how he is accepting his bipolar and embracing it. (please correct me if I'm wrong anyone)
@@Nezumi99 and he also talked about how bipolar disorder affected his works, and how he learned to work with it, like for example when he said "if i have a sudden mood change, i might not finish a song, and i need to wait for the cycle, for the correct mood"
Finally a person who made comments about the visuals!! No one ever seems to pay attention to them. I find the ‘mood’ part of this video very interesting, too. Ian goes from very high highs (sweltering heat, wiping his face, things catching on fire) to very lows lows (freezing, shivering, the screen going dark/monotone) to represent his disorder and various trippy, almost Alice in wonderland imagery that may symbolize the side effects of his medication? It really is psychedelic, as you said. In one of his songs called Miss Understood the lyrics go “my feelings on acid, make this heart go elastic” which I think is a reference to medication.
This is a continuation of his previous music videos. The story is the same about the main character, Mito. Everything is a representation of his bipolar disorder, so you got it right! If you're interested in learn more about the story and his own personal story i suggest you his Zach Sang interview.
I’m so glad you reacted to this! Ian and the rest of the DPR team are so talented and have such an intellectual way of editing in all the right ways to make true art! The cuts and layering throughout are so simple yet so perfect
Ian he’s one of my favorite artists and also inspirations in terms of dealing with and accepting my bipolar disorder. I could never deal well with it and was bullied because of it. He made me feel normal, human ❤️always grateful
he writes his music. composes them. directs the music videos and edits the videos. Basically he portrays his life through art that is the voices in his head and characters/alter egos/versions of himself. He experiences them due to bipolar and multiple personality disorder. MITO being one of them which is dark or deep dark maniac state of his. MITO is also the one which is with one white eye or eye ring.
You mentioned at the end you could explore so much about the concept, and I promise you wouldn't regret delving into the absolute masterpiece of a concept he has created - which is completely inspired by the personification of his bi-polar disorder and the many images he's created within himself and all of his music. Watching his interview on the Zach Sang show and his documentaries and especially interpreting his lyrics will give you a fantastic idea. You always do such a fantastic job of understanding artists concepts so I'm sure you'd understand it all better than me but, wow, I can't get enough of it and want to learn so much more. Part II will be coming out soon and I believe we'll be getting even more backstory to EVERYTHING, he even teased a third album.
I feel very proud, I love that dpr and dprian are reaching many people as they deserve, dprian is a work of art and all their music is good, LITERALLY ALL
many people in the comments have mentioned his disorder and things about miito, I also just wanna add that the lower pitch voice in his work is *miito*
He has BPD and did and he characterizes them in his music videos. Mito is his manic low which is the one with the white contact and Mr insanity is him in his manic high and he usually has silly goofy outfits on and glowing eyes
I love this so much but I just realized you haven't reacted to DPR LIVE's "Legacy" yet! I just think that it's one of their absolute best MVs, along with this movie. You're gonna love Legacy, IAN directed and edited that video too!
I loved it, don't even happen to you that you have a lot to say but you end up saying something short like... it was just perfect... That's what happened to me when I watched it for the first time. I just love how raw and conceptual are his works. His artistry leaves me in awe.
So he has bipolar disorder and this entire two CD series like both of the mido albums and the third one that will be coming out eventually are all about him and his struggles and bipolar disorder . I don't think it has anything whatsoever to do at addiction so I don't know where that came from I've never heard of him talk about addiction but I could be wrong maybe I haven't heard it recently but yeah he talks a lot about how it's about his bipolar disorder. People with PTSD often get confused with bipolar disorder as well so people like myself with PTSD can really definitely understand his struggles and I love this entire album and I loved the last entire album as well. He does a really good job he's also the person who did everything he did the producing everything for the videos and the music. Every single bit of work that went into this album was all him I'm on maybe some help here and there doing things that he wasn't able to do alone but for the most part this album he said was very personal to him and he mostly was the person doing all of the editing and everything because of how personal this album was that's why he said nobody helped him with any of the sounds all of the sounds was from his own voice so all of the people you hear talking is actual things that he hears when he's going manic and those are all his sound effects that he's made himself. Like he has done two interviews that I watched now where he talked about this so definitely go check it out so that you can get more information but yeah not once did he ever say anything about addiction so this has nothing to do with addiction those meds that he takes is his bipolar medication.
Honestly check out DPR LIVE and and of course all of DPR IAN. I love the music but even I can appreciate the visuals that go on in the MV's. It's amazing and honestly feels so much different from other MV's.
That feeling when you sit down to do a professional critique but basically transform into a fanboy for the entire video. 😂 It's perfectly understandable tho, this level of talent & creativity will do that to you. 🤭
if you wanna know more about the Concept of the songs and just the story in general, check out his video with JREKML, that should definitely give you a better understanding 😃😃😃
I'm writing this comment after seeing 5 seconds of your reaction But as a French person I wonder if the reference at the beginning makes you think of Harry Potter, all the music Mvs classified as, the sphere of memories in Harry Potter! 🤣😁
dont see anyone in the comments saying it, but Ian edited and produces all his videos... hes a genius
That's insane
this man is insanely talented
Wow this is incredible
God really does have his favorites
He is incredible!!, i love him🤩🤩😍
you got it completely right. if I wasn't mistaken, he said in Zach Sang show this album is about how he is accepting his bipolar and embracing it. (please correct me if I'm wrong anyone)
No, he said this is more about the origin of MITO and how he becomes to be.
@@Nezumi99 and he also talked about how bipolar disorder affected his works, and how he learned to work with it, like for example when he said "if i have a sudden mood change, i might not finish a song, and i need to wait for the cycle, for the correct mood"

The even extra genius element is that all those quick flashes also reference other DPR videos he has directed!

He literally explain the video in his new interview with ZACH SANG. This is about how MITO come to live. If u watch the interview u gonna understand
he writes his music. composes them. directs the music videos and edits the videos.
