The problem was never that the British press backed British drivers. That's understandable. The blatant lies and hate campaigns against Max are not though. This is also what sets the British press apart from most other F1-press. Everybody cheers for their own countrymen, but only the Brits start hate campaigns involving a multitude of lies about those bloody foreigners who dare challenge the British boys. Of course this works better in the UK than in other countries, because most Brits don't understand any other language, so they'll happily believe the lies their press feeds them and never hear any other sounds. Worked well with Brexit too. Doesn't work as well in countries where ppl speak more than one language and can hear/read what is being said elsewhere.

All the way down to Lewis being robbed and that a gross misconduct took place by rule manipulation. Then have a look at the last final laps of the race, prior to any lapped cars were given orders. Lewis says, Max will be right behind me on fresher tyres? How did he come to that conclusion at that point? If it was a total manipulation of the rules. Surely he knew that was a possibility. And what was the reason only a few of the cars got cleared? It was because the cars were needed to be cleared straight away, which did not happen. You hear Horner asking Massi why are they still in the way, Massi saying that he needs to focus and get the damaged car out of the way. This is why he went for that solution, because if he didn't clear the cars, this would result in a clearer breach of rules. Did you see any of these discussions in the media? I didn't, all i seen is rigged, undeserving and Massi sacked.
Max gave us one of the best drives in F1 history at Imterlagos. I am a McLaren supporter, but I am so disappointed in Lando's comments. I'm not gonna wear the Lando merch any more.
Cut Lando some slack his problem is he is very immature, Max was too until he met Kelly and a seismic shift took place. I suspect because he is now part of the Piquet family who are very close, they all support each other, Nelson is very proud of his family. Not just the press, there were so many comments from his fans saying that Max is nothing without the fastest car, slagging off Lewis as well. Whilst ignoring all of the mistakes Lando was making, even though he is really far from a rookie and should not have been doing so many per race. Or comparing him to Piastry, who indeed is one. And, this just made you think that they had no clue about this sport. But still, they were so vocal. And this seems to have shown who is who in this sport. Even still you see a small number of people argue that this is just the car, the red flags etc. which just shows how clueless they are. Even if Max didn't win this race, how he drove was pure class. No one on that field was even close to matching him.
F1 has lost its credibility as an International sport. We need International DIVERSITY amongst F1 commentators and reporters. The all British crew is clearly not up to the task of objectivity. You can see the misery on their faces when a non Britt wins. Its a dark cloud over the sport. People like Herbert, Brundle and Palmer add nothing of value to the sport and can easily be replaced with any international counterpart.
In my opinion, Brundle is actually the one being objective and not as biased as the others. Ted kravitz is the worst. But yeah, F1 is all political and less sport. We are all equal, but some with the "proper passport" are more equal than the others...
Crofty’s quotes about Max’s driving style is the encapsulation of what British bias is. They can’t objectively praise a wonderful drive without adding unnecessary commentary about other incidents. They just can’t help themselves. I think non British drivers should continue calling out the British press every chance they get. Make it uncomfortable for them.
British media is just venting their frustration on the meager results their campain against Max produced. They will come back pressing on British stewards to be light on Lando and hard on Max. I wonder what would be the penalties if Max had done what Lando did, departing without a green light. Immediately 20 seconds plus 10 grid positions on the next race, community service and a hefty fine, while Lando received just a slap on the wrist with an 5K fine.
I really do think Oscar is the better driver and next year I just wonder if he will give lando a going over next year. Think about it lando has had a rocket ship of a car and his team mate helping him and he still can’t do it.
Ok, as a Max fan, i think Lando just needs more experience. He never had a car that could put him in front of the field, and suddenly he was a contender for championship. Everyone around him pushed the idea that he was going to win (i don't believe this s..t that there is no pressure over him), but he was doing way too much mistakes which brings more stress nex time and now after that race in brazil he realized that he needs to grow a lot and in the heat of the moment he spoke some stupid stuf. But let him burn this is humbling experience and very good lesson that every person shou go through at some form in his life.
Norris is a good lad and that's exactly where it went wrong. The British media (and to a lesser extent Fat Brown) screwed with his head to the point that they turned him against his friend and now they drop him because he couldn't accomplish what was already nearly impossible.
Have you ever had to complete against someone for something truly special? Human psychology is a magnificent thing, the best people can turn bad easily. He is a grown man, if he allows people to influence him - he is just as guilty. I think the biggest problem with people, is that they are very quick to judge, without giving a bit of thought about what they would do in a similar situation.

So many mistruths were said about Nelson Piquet to make Mansell a supreme being. Lot of it totally untrue. We know now Nelson’s vision and well-being were affected by the near identical crash to Senna at Tamburello in 1987. Lando’s comments, like Nigel’s, just smack of sour grapes whinging. A season is not won on a race it is the whole season. Nelson said to finish first, first you must finish which is how he beat Mansell in 1987. Not just the accident at Japan for Nigel to lose it, Nelson got consistent second places! What about Lewis’ comments too in Brazil about can’t wait to leave Mercedes. This is the team that gave him six titles and reduced Valteri Bottas to a wingman and that in turn affected his mental health. Mansell made statements that were totally untrue suggesting Piquet was not sharing across the garage with his side. This is about the development of the active suspension. Nigel wasn’t interested Nelson did over 2000 miles while Nigel played golf, yet it was Nelson that got so much negativity it reared its head again when Hamilton was able to get Nelson totally cancelled. Yes Nelson has a ‘coloured’ sense of humour and openly admitted when he could not beat Mansell on the track he used psychology, one of the first to do so and many more followed. Ayrton Senna fared far worse in his career and I have it in ‘colour’ and white there was also xenophobia floating around in the 80s F1. It took Ayrton to die for him to get his true legacy. I saw him drive/race three times and you could hear the way he was the only one to blip at the throttle. Over the years the British media have gone for Sebastian Vettel at Red Bull, Schumacher I think did deserve what he got he deliberately cheated on two occasions to get titles, only he got very caught on second one, Villeneuve predicted as much. Ayrton Senna was not a cheat never believed all that gumph. He had the FIA President trying to psych him in favour of Prost, he admitted as much to Bernie before his death. Prost and Mansell were the heroes, Senna and Piquet the villains. Nigel and Alain’s golf loving bromance soon ended when as teammates they realised the truth about each other. I find the hardest point is Max gets extra vilification because of being a part of the Piquet family, I say again Nelson is a great guy, no problems until he joined Williams and was diddled by Patrick Head while Frank was recuperating. Nelson is great friends with Nigel and Niki was also very close. He would not have associated with Nelson if he thought he was racist against Hamilton, Niki was close to him too. I think the modern Championship, its links to Silverstone and the BRDC, most manufacturers are round that area too they claim it as British. Now the Americans have it and the traditions are changing to make it more glitzy and showy. Not many of the drivers want the celebrity bit. Lewis was one of the only ones, apart from Danny Ric, that enjoyed being introduced by a rapper at Austin. The British press are never gonna change and as I always seem to pick drivers they villainise I will always be on the defensive. * One gem the British press failed to mention. When Frank Williams had his accident Nelson went to see him a few times and when he came out of hospital Frank was struggling as he needed a special adapted phone to get back to work. The British media is pathetic, but we’ve all known that for many many years now. I like L’andò but not nearly as much as I did. I have lost a lot of respect for the guy, but he’s young and has a lot to learn. I have always liked Max too and his character has always been well ahead of his age. He always defended Lando to the media when they were unfair to him and he always supported Lando and said publicly that Lando will have a great career. And what has Lando done in return? He’s trashed on Max to the media the moment he tasted some success. He and Mclaren have done nothing but bitch about everything, especially Max which the British media lived because they hate Max too. Because of recent fan backlash however, the media is doing a 180 to stay relevant to the fans and left Lando and McLaren in the cold, which they deserve but so does the British media. Norris won three main races, in 2 of them Oscar wasnt even near Lando. In Miami he was ahead but pitted so no, he didnt gave place. Only given victory was brasil sprint so hungary was repaid.
I think since Formula One is a teamsport (not at all an individual sport) the constructors title should be the most important, but the general public and even the media is mainly focused on the drivers championship. So good luck with that…
Lando Norris did not say: "he got a bit lucky today but that's life". Instead of that Lando Norris said: "It was luck, not talent". You need to learn how to get your quotes right, because that he said that it was not talent from Max was the main part that caused the most backlash.
Back at Silverstone the gap was 84 by Mexico it was down to 47, ...no other driver has gained so much of an improvement lets award credit to Lando for how McClaren has improved from the start of the season Try appreciation not criticism
I don't mind supporting you own Drivers but at this point Sky Sports F1 is bigger than England. I also understand hating the Winner, I felt when Hamilton was winning for years, certain commentators and presenters where tired of it. I think maybe Redbull and Sky should make some content together and mend their relationship I also don't think media is against Norris, this kid is extremely popular and very good for F1. He is competitive and Kind and its that part of him that is holding him back, he needs to be more selfish otherwise he becomes the next Ricciardo. I think Norris will bounce back and have some good finishes along with Piastri - the pressure is on to win the WCC, Ferrari are coming on strong. Verstappen has shown the WDC is his, he is not about to make silly just like Norris did with the last two pole positions. If Norris converted those pole positions to wins, I believe he still would have had a chance for the WDC. Next year is still a good opportunity for Norris, before the new rules take effect, McLaren is doing an excellant job in providing him with the fastest car.

Red Bull knew Verstappen had better chances to win if stayed on track and waited for a red flag. Sometimes you have to be bold, especially if there's no option left. McLaren had two, chose the wrong one, Red Bull comprehended it had only one and went for it. That's the problem in Norris' claim that Verstappen was lucky. No, the dutch is a great driver and is in the best team.
@@robertomoreira7543 , I completely agree that Max's drive was probably (if not THE) the best drive we have seen. Nothing to take away from him. Also the dynamics of risk taking in this case would have been very different. The reward potential for Max (and Red Bull) with the start from the back of the grid and the fact that he is leading the championship with a margin of about 50 points would have meant that waiting it out for a possible red flag was a good decision. But for McLaren and Norris who are leading the GP and also trying to close the points in the championship the decision to pit and hop for no red flag would have indicated better payoff. Reminds me of Abu Dhabi 2021 when Hamilton who was in lead and Mercedes opted to not change tyres as they would have lost position. In both cases, the storke of luck went Red Bull's way. Now if someone is going to take offence at the words Norris chose (specifically, "got lucky"), then try replacing it with "stroke of luck went his way". And in the interview, Lando's tone was matter of factly and therefore I did not find it offensive or crying foul. Finally, Red Bull deserved the victory and Max proved that he is not just a world champion when things are going his way with the drive in Brazil. Kudos to them!

He was going to pass Norris in a few laps. Under pressure, McLaren and Norris decided to chance tyres earlier than Verstappen, to try to finish the race ahead of the dutch. It went wrong, obviously. So I think you can say Abu Dhabi was a stroke of luck to Red Bull, but last sunday decisive was the competence of Verstappen in wet tracks and of Red Bull as a team.

True but I think Lando let a lot of people down because people honestly want anyone else other then egoman, rule bender Max to win. It’s extremely rare that someone has the best car by that margin for the bulk of the season and fails to win the title. In fact I don’t think I’ve ever seen it and I’ve followed the sport since 97. If Lando wins a championship now there will be zero doubt that it’s entirely down to him having the best car by far.

So to sum things up in my point of view: Mclaren lost the drivers championship due to their loser mentality. They threw wins away while having the best car due to bad strategy and lack of leadership. Mclaren is the best car since Miami gp and yet they failed to achieve.
Lando apparently can't handle the pressure. But I think he wins Las Vegas, so the championship won't be won in Vegas. Would be a shame though because Las Vegas is a great place to party😉
I've always said that British media sucks. They are very biased about their home grown talent. We see this all the time in footie. It's the same reason they can say things like Foden is a future Ballon winner. Don't get me wrong Foden is amazing but come on look at who he is up against. It's the same reason people like Paul Mers have to issue apologies and look like fools. British media is biased.
Well at least we have some controversy compared to no controversy back during the Mercedes era, so we'll be entertained for the time being. British Media in a nutshell, if their own owns, they praise their drivers, if the driver loses, they berate their drivers; it's just a complete shitshow. Max is one tough nut for enduring all of this, and even one tougher nut for responding back to his critiques in such a legendary manner.
Sky Sports and some of the "RUclipsrs" are nothing more than tabloids. They want to see shit being stirred because that's the only way they stay relevant. In Brazil sky was still showing videos of max in mexico to Horner when interviewing him ffs During the week on their RUclips channel they made tons of "deep dive analysis" on both overtakes getting even to the point of using telemetry data to prove Max was in the wrong. Then we fast forward to Brazil, during the spring we see Max fighting with Leclerc with absolutely no issues whatsoever, hard and clean racing, not an inch given and not an inch taken and most importantly NO CRYING on the radio from both. I'm biased because I'm a Max fan, but i was also a Norris fan, and I was hoping that once Max's reign ended Norris would take over especially since Norris was so vocal about things like mental health and everything. It really resonated with me. But now? I hope Piastri wipes the floor with him and shut the biased media down, he's got absolutely no class, he showed it a bit every now and then but i always shrugged it off as him being awkward and getting nervous by being put on the spot, but since that dig at Hamilton in the cool down room - especially after Hamilton praised him during a race once - he has revealed himself as a brat that doesn't cope well whit things not going the way he wants. In 2025 he and Piastri will be both in equal footing at the start of the season, and I have a slight suspicion that Piastri is naturally more talented than him, he's going to be even worse.

First time max with the help director of the race getting the lapped cars out of the way that was cheating so in fair play it champion should of gone to Lewis Hamilton for his 8 champion and Max red bull cheating saying they over spend on food. It was on upgrades of car not food so cheating.i am sorry but until more penalty come max way it will be good. But he is dangerous driver as well going to kill someone.
There is no doubt Max is a good driver and there is also no doubt Max he is a dirty driver. That said, as long as the stewards allow this type of driving then it’s not Max’s fault.

I really do think Oscar is the better driver and next year I just wonder if he will give lando a going over next year. Think about it lando has had a rocket ship of a car and his team mate helping him and he still can’t do it.

Ok, as a Max fan, i think Lando just needs more experience. He never had a car that could put him in front of the field, and suddenly he was a contender for championship. Everyone around him pushed the idea that he was going to win (i don't believe this s..t that there is no pressure over him), but he was doing way too much mistakes which brings more stress nex time and now after that race in brazil he realized that he needs to grow a lot and in the heat of the moment he spoke some stupid stuf. But let him burn this is humbling experience and very good lesson that every person shou go through at some form in his life.
Norris is a good lad and that's exactly where it went wrong. The British media (and to a lesser extent Fat Brown) screwed with his head to the point that they turned him against his friend and now they drop him because he couldn't accomplish what was already nearly impossible.

I kept scrapbooks between 1983-1991 that clearly show how the British press operated then and still operate in the same way. So many mistruths were said about Nelson Piquet to make Mansell a supreme being. Lot of it totally untrue. We know now Nelson’s vision and well-being were affected by the near identical crash to Senna at Tamburello in 1987.
Lando’s comments, like Nigel’s, just smack of sour grapes whinging. A season is not won on a race it is the whole season. Nelson said to finish first, first you must finish which is how he beat Mansell in 1987. Not just the accident at Japan for Nigel to lose it, Nelson got consistent second places!
What about Lewis’ comments too in Brazil about can’t wait to leave Mercedes. This is the team that gave him six titles and reduced Valteri Bottas to a wingman and that in turn affected his mental health.
Mansell made statements that were totally untrue suggesting Piquet was not sharing across the garage with his side. This is about the development of the active suspension. Nigel wasn’t interested Nelson did over 2000 miles while Nigel played golf, yet it was Nelson that got so much negativity it reared its head again when Hamilton was able to get Nelson totally cancelled.
Yes Nelson has a ‘coloured’ sense of humour and openly admitted when he could not beat Mansell on the track he used psychology, one of the first to do so and many more followed.
Ayrton Senna fared far worse in his career and I have it in ‘colour’ and white there was also xenophobia floating around in the 80s F1. It took Ayrton to die for him to get his true legacy. I saw him drive/race three times and you could hear the way he was the only one to blip at the throttle.
Over the years the British media have gone for Sebastian Vettel at Red Bull, Schumacher I think did deserve what he got he deliberately cheated on two occasions to get titles, only he got very caught on second one, Villeneuve predicted as much.
Ayrton Senna was not a cheat never believed all that gumph. He had the FIA President trying to psych him in favour of Prost, he admitted as much to Bernie before his death.
Prost and Mansell were the heroes, Senna and Piquet the villains. Nigel and Alain’s golf loving bromance soon ended when as teammates they realised the truth about each other.
I find the hardest point is Max gets extra vilification because of being a part of the Piquet family, I say again Nelson is a great guy, no problems until he joined Williams and was diddled by Patrick Head while Frank was recuperating.
Nelson is great friends with Nigel and Niki was also very close. He would not have associated with Nelson if he thought he was racist against Hamilton, Niki was close to him too.
I think the modern Championship, its links to Silverstone and the BRDC, most manufacturers are round that area too they claim it as British. Now the Americans have it and the traditions are changing to make it more glitzy and showy. Not many of the drivers want the celebrity bit. Lewis was one of the only ones, apart from Danny Ric, that enjoyed being introduced by a rapper at Austin.

I like L’andò but not nearly as much as I did. I have lost a lot of respect for the guy, but he’s young and has a lot to learn. I have always liked Max too and his character has always been well ahead of his age. He always defended Lando to the media when they were unfair to him and he always supported Lando and said publicly that Lando will have a great career.
And what has Lando done in return? He’s trashed on Max to the media the moment he tasted some success. He and Mclaren have done nothing but bitch about everything, especially Max which the British media lived because they hate Max too. Because of recent fan backlash however, the media is doing a 180 to stay relevant to the fans and left Lando and McLaren in the cold, which they deserve but so does the British media. It’s all so very pathetic.

I think Norris will bounce back and have some good finishes along with Piastri - the pressure is on to win the WCC, Ferrari are coming on strong. Verstappen has shown the WDC is his, he is not about to make silly just like Norris did with the last two pole positions. If Norris converted those pole positions to wins, I believe he still would have had a chance for the WDC. Next year is still a good opportunity for Norris, before the new rules take effect, McLaren is doing an excellant job in providing him with the fastest car.

If anyone heard Norris' interview where he supposed said, "Max got lucky", would know that Norris' was referring to the fact that the rules allow change of tyres in red flag situation.
Now McLaren could have never known that a red flag will befall a few laps later and opted to change Norris' tyres. Calling it a bad decision is a colossal asshattery.

Alpine scored a double podium because McLaren fucked up, and their star driver made so many mistakes! Simple!
Red Bull knew Verstappen had better chances to win if stayed on track and waited for a red flag. Sometimes you have to be bold, especially if there's no option left. McLaren had two, chose the wrong one, Red Bull comprehended it had only one and went for it. That's the problem in Norris' claim that Verstappen was lucky. No, the dutch is a great driver and is in the best team.
@@robertomoreira7543 , I completely agree that Max's drive was probably (if not THE) the best drive we have seen. Nothing to take away from him. Also the dynamics of risk taking in this case would have been very different. The reward potential for Max (and Red Bull) with the start from the back of the grid and the fact that he is leading the championship with a margin of about 50 points would have meant that waiting it out for a possible red flag was a good decision.
But for McLaren and Norris who are leading the GP and also trying to close the points in the championship the decision to pit and hop for no red flag would have indicated better payoff.
Reminds me of Abu Dhabi 2021 when Hamilton who was in lead and Mercedes opted to not change tyres as they would have lost position.
In both cases, the storke of luck went Red Bull's way. Now if someone is going to take offence at the words Norris chose (specifically, "got lucky"), then try replacing it with "stroke of luck went his way". And in the interview, Lando's tone was matter of factly and therefore I did not find it offensive or crying foul.
Finally, Red Bull deserved the victory and Max proved that he is not just a world champion when things are going his way with the drive in Brazil. Kudos to them!

He was going to pass Norris in a few laps. Under pressure, McLaren and Norris decided to chance tyres earlier than Verstappen, to try to finish the race ahead of the dutch. It went wrong, obviously. So I think you can say Abu Dhabi was a stroke of luck to Red Bull, but last sunday decisive was the competence of Verstappen in wet tracks and of Red Bull as a team.

If Lando wins a championship now there will be zero doubt that it’s entirely down to him having the best car by far.

So to sum things up in my point of view: Mclaren lost the drivers championship due to their loser mentality. They threw wins away while having the best car due to bad strategy and lack of leadership. Mclaren is the best car since Miami gp and yet they failed to achieve.
Lando apparently can't handle the pressure. But I think he wins Las Vegas, so the championship won't be won in Vegas. Would be a shame though because Las Vegas is a great place to party😉

Well at least we have some controversy compared to no controversy back during the Mercedes era, so we'll be entertained for the time being. British Media in a nutshell, if their own owns, they praise their drivers, if the driver loses, they berate their drivers; it's just a complete shitshow. In Brazil sky was still showing videos of max in mexico to Horner when interviewing him ffs
During the week on their RUclips channel they made tons of "deep dive analysis" on both overtakes getting even to the point of using telemetry data to prove Max was in the wrong.
Then we fast forward to Brazil, during the spring we see Max fighting with Leclerc with absolutely no issues whatsoever, hard and clean racing, not an inch given and not an inch taken and most importantly NO CRYING on the radio from both.
I'm biased because I'm a Max fan, but i was also a Norris fan, and I was hoping that once Max's reign ended Norris would take over especially since Norris was so vocal about things like mental health and everything. It really resonated with me.
But now? I hope Piastri wipes the floor with him and shut the biased media down, he's got absolutely no class, he showed it a bit every now and then but i always shrugged it off as him being awkward and getting nervous by being put on the spot, but since that dig at Hamilton in the cool down room - especially after Hamilton praised him during a race once - he has revealed himself as a brat that doesn't cope well whit things not going the way he wants.
In 2025 he and Piastri will be both in equal footing at the start of the season, and I have a slight suspicion that Piastri is naturally more talented than him, he's going to be even worse.

First time max with the help director of the race getting the lapped cars out of the way that was cheating so in fair play it champion should of gone to Lewis Hamilton for his 8 champion and Max red bull cheating saying they over spend on food.
