    I very much dislike Ancestry’s potential parents. In my experience it is frequently incorrect. It encourages people not to research, when what we need is to promote research.

      I am fairly certain Ancestry looks at matches in other trees. So if some numpty has added in some wild guess or wishful thinking, and particularly when others just copy from other people's trees, you get a lot of dud information. The Ancestry tips also get quite confused with those of similar names.

    Using all these different websites, do you need to pay for each one?

      Great question! So, the ones that require a subscription, I do pay for. (I am an affiliate for both Ancestry and for MyHeritage, but I pay for my own subscriptions. State archives, US Genweb are free to use. So, I use a mix!
