@@eviekelpie1 good for her!!! how did you like the concert? I saw him in Baltimore, June 2022 just before Glastonbury, weather was sweltering hot, I was hungry and thirsty. Then for 3 hours I was hypnotized!
This was the annual NME awards show in the early 60s! The New Musical Express (the biggest UK music paper) held a readers poll every year for a few years. The Beatles won by a landslide every time. The awards show included ALL of the famous UK bands, such as the Animals, the Kinks, the Rolling Stones. With that lineup, the Beatles brought their A game! This was the last song of the set. They alwaysm closed with a barn burner, and Paul could always do it. John LOVED when Paul just let it rip like this, as you can see! John was the band leader, and all of those bands were competing. Everyone in every other band was jealous of Paul - he had it all. The looks, the MONSTER talent, the singing. He's proof that life isn't fair. John liked to show off Paul in front of the other bands.
There were many attractive elements to the Beatles. Their haircuts, their dress and their attitude towards the press. But what really captivated many people was that they were a group! They all played, sang and enjoyed themselves on stage. This was a magical elixir to the youth of the sixties. It's been mentioned by Joel, Ozzy Osbourne and many others as the reason they became musicians.
Sir Paul was so good at imitating Little Richard's style of singing. I didn't get to see The Beatles in concert, but I did see Paul in concert back in 2002. And I did see Ringo in concert twice, once in 1997 and again in 2003. They're still great performers!
Hi Jayy! Last night hubby and I went to a Sir Paul McCartney concert! Woo Hoo! Amazing, brilliant, fantastic...Paul at 81 performed for 3 hours straight and did so many killer songs including many from The Beatles days and Wings. We had pyrotechnics, fireworks and everything! I cried, sang, danced and cried some more. So blessed he's in Australia right now!
Long Tall sally was the closing song for most of the Beatles World Tours from1964 through 1966 (including their final concert 29 Aug 1966 at Candlestick Park in San Francisco. The1965 B side to their "Help!" single was called "I'm Down'. The Beatles sometimes replaced Long Tall Sally with I'm Down as the closing number. You may like to know JAYY that Little Richard fancied Ringo too.!! True story. Take care, RNB
Oh wow! Hubby and I saw him last night here near my home in NSW Australia! The best concert ever! I cried so much... Needles to say today we're wacked!
I always go crazy when I see and hear Paul do "Long Tall Sally," or "i'm Down" BOTH killer rockers and Paul gets to show every one that he CAN ROCK and get that scream on!! I turn into that 17 year old girl that I was back in 1964 when I see this (Paul was and STILL IS my favorite) I saw the Beatles live in Cleveland on Sept. 15, 1964 and again on Aug. 14, 1966. They didn't come here on their 1965 tour because our Mayor BANNED them after the 1964 concert!!! I WISH you could have been there too, Jayy, but at least their are a lot of live concert performances, videos and TV appearances you can watch now.
I DID see the Beatles in 1965 at Shea Stadium in New York. I was 11. I was in the very last row with my brother and cousin. They seemed to be about a mile away. The screaming was so loud that we couldn't hear most of the songs. About half way through each song, the screams would did down for a minute so we could make out what song they were playing. Sounds like it would be annoying, but we loved every second of it. Especially the girl in the row ahead of me who screamed to her friends, "GEORGE LOOKED AT ME!"
Love your hair today! Though the sound isn't the best on this performance, it's great to see their enthusiasm live! And to think that many people don't consider early Beatles songs "rockers"!! (even tho it's a cover LOL)
Possibly my favorite Jayy reaction yet! LTS is one of my favorite early covers they did. Others I loved were YOU REALLY GOT A HOLD ON ME MONEY ROLL OVER BEETHOVEN PLEASE MISTER POSTMAN
Two suggestions, Jayy. See one of the many Beatle tribute bands that are constantly touring. Two of the best are Rain and the Fab Four, and while the experience is nothing like seeing the Beatles live in concert, one can always imagine. And another suggestion, if you haven't watched it already, is to see A Hard Day's Night, the best rock and roll film ever made.
Before the Beatles were music stars, they were music FANS! You can see that in performances like this. Jayy, you should really check out their cover of the great Motown classic "Money (That's What I Want)". BLISTERING John Lennon vocal!
I absolutely love Paul’s voice in this song. It’s fun to watch these early performances but the sound quality was pretty bad. You can check out the studio version to hear how great Paul really sounded. Great choice Jay. 🌺✌️
He STILL sounds GREAT here and actually BETTER LIVE because he REALLY GETS INTO IT and gets that GRAVEL in his voice on these rockers, which doesn't always happen in the studio.
If you really want to dig deep into the origins and archives of what the Beatles foundations were built upon, check out the 'B.B.C Sessions' it's a huge double album with their 'roots' completely uncovered. 💝
If I had a time machine, I'd want to go back and see an early Beatles concert. I'd probably be screaming my lungs out too every time they went "Wooo!"
When time travel was invented, the first place I went was the Cavern Club! ;)
Last night at my first Paul concert here in Oz, one lady behind us was screaming so loud when he came on, it was great 😂

George played that solo on Rick 12 string.

I also saw Paul in 2002 when he came to Boston. Best show I’ve ever been to. 🌸
No lo *imita* Paul la canta en una tesitura mucho mas alta, y también le meten más caña
I saw em Jay, Toronto 1965, 14,000 screaming girls - louder than the band - the event of a lifetime!
Saw them in Toronto in '65 and '66. They were still screaming!

The studio version released was nailed on the first take.
You know Ringo has his own channel on RUclips?
With brand new songs and album recently?
Right out the box! Go Sir Paul! Then Jayy's favorite! Go George! You go, girl! You got it bad.
I'd like to see the stones do a Little Richard song like that! The Beatles did Little Richard proud!
NONE of the great UK bands had a singer who could do this.

I was there too!! (I was 13) At first I hated all the screaming, but when we realized it couldn't be stopped, we joined in!
In the early days no one could touch them. They could rock with the best of them.
The OUTROCKED the best of them. They were on another level.
That was fun.
Next I'm down.

A preview of things to come… I think they played that for some kind of release from having to play and appear so prim and proper. Great stuff.

Elvis Presley kills it on this song too. ❤
Also check their Washington DC live performance of Long Tall Sally. In my opinion that version is even better.
A LOT of sexuality on that stage. It explains Beatlemania pretty much to a T.
Beautiful boys letting it rip!
GO PAuL Go !!
Saw little Richard at so
Some oldies festival. Chuck Berry etc. Actually worked the event.
