    Love your videos - you convey so much passion for the sport but with humour and without the patronising tone of so many fishing videos. Nicely grounded, guys. Thanks.

    I guess they could,but I've not had it yet.It certainly seems to get them more aggressive,so next season I expect more crash takes close in to rushes,weedbeds etc. Heart thumping stuff when a double figure fish eats in an explosive swirl.That's why I love it.The unexpected take at the last moment

    A large sized landing net,with soft mesh.If you net a big one don't lift it by the pole,it will probably snap at the "Y" frame.Carry the Pike by holding the weight using the mesh of the net,but watch for loose hooks .I'm always aware of any loose barbed hooks outside the pike's jaws.

    Very cool rig!
    I am going to give it the old college try this summer for pike and musky! I think I will not only try it with real bait, but also with some soft plastics. As you Brits say "Brilliant!" Keep up the good work.

    Thanks for the advice Graeme, I'm really enjoying your videos. I've just been down to Tescos and bought 60 sprats for £2.54, that's probably 4 days piking. Keep the vids coming.

    I always make sure to look at the weather for the place you're going at, and paying attention if it rained a day early. nothing worse than fishing flooded water!

    Yes,I've been to BC,caught loads of Salmon out of Bamfield using those huge flashers and a hoochee at the back.Plus baits.But I don't think anyone has ever used a silver plastic picnic spoon for pike.You guys get Northern pike over there,I reckon it could be a good technique for them as well.

  • @RagnarrBjorn
    @RagnarrBjorn 11 лет назад

    I posted on this video in the past and I really enjoy your show. I have also watched a lot of other UK pike fishing videos here on RUclips, but I have to ask, why do you Brits always seem to use such very fragile looking nets for pike? Most of the guys that I know over here in the States use the rubberized nets on a more sturdy frame and handle. I understand that a lot of you guys hike into the places you fish, but there are nets on the market (at least over here anyway) that are light weight and collapsible. They not only keep the weight down but they are also are very sturdy and they help keep the fish from being damaged/hurt from the net.
    Any way, love the show and keep up the good work.
    Tight lines.
    Scott

    Worth a try. It should catch pike anywhere. Same principle, but twitch it slower. Last time I was at Bury Hill it had a slight tinge of colour in it, but they do have plenty of predators. I would say it would also work on Zander.

    I don't know if they still market or sell it as the spool I have is over 15 years old and I've still got lots left.Try a search engine or sea fishing site as it is for sea fishing really,and probably a lot cheaper than buying wire on small spools for pike.Get a bulk spool it lasts years !!

    Ive seen this technique before when i first started fishing,i seen it in a book,(i forget the name,i lent it to my cousin when he started)but it had a diagram of pieces of tinfoil tied onto the line representing small baitfish.

    Never tried. But if you fished with a mini lightstick/isotope about a foot up the trace it might enhance the flash. Certainly worth a try.

    i when use them this summer it was when we right up next to shore and other stuff would tangle up in the kelp

    No idea on weight, but sprats are light, and laterally compressed, that's why I use a big shot to give a bit of casting weight and get them down. No, I don't eat them either. Waste of a good bait !

    Question,please...When you get a take from the fish,do you strike straight away?...or do you give line to the fish,wait and then strike?...Great vids,btw

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  5 лет назад

      Small bait strike straight away,larger bait give a bit of time,10 seconds,or bit more if you are missing fish on the strike.Could also be a small Pike moving off with a big bait.

    hey. what size VB hooks do you guys use? just started piking and if I'm honest don't like trebles.. catch myself more than I do fish

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  8 лет назад

      Probably sizes 4,6 and 8

  • @TAFishing
    @TAFishing  11 лет назад

    Probably casting too hard and not using either the VB hook or a big single through the bottom and out the top of the head to support it during the cast. Not good with trebles, they don't go far enough back in the head.
