    What separates John from the rest including Medina and Felipe is his own unique style that we all love and admire .the relaxed posture droping down and waiting for the right moment to attack without any extra egotistic nuances .his surfing is selfless but yet explosive and therefore more likeable, a true artist that doesnt overdo things and belives that Less is More .

      Medina is so much more complete and has a unique style too.

      I hate all the failed air attempts though, I love john johns surfing because he can do a huge air but he also does these huge powerful laybacks. Medina surfing is wave after wave he goes for an air and fails until sometimes he lands and gets a 10

    I've gotta say JJF scraped home in this final by the skin of his teeth ,I though the Brazilian picked bigger more critical waves but the one he got biggest of the day he should've smashed that lip and he would've won Bells !!

    Filipe wasn't even throwing any spray in his turns. Even the commentators had to hype up his turns. "slashing cutties" more like "sprinkle cutties"

  • @bowliver
    @bowliver 5 лет назад +9

    John John had absolutely more power flow and critical turns. And if style would favor in , this would be win before the heat started. But now it doesn’t and it didn’t matter because jjf smashed the wave more than Toledo. And i don’t know how you can’t see that? I enjoy surfing and not the flag on the jersey.

    Filipe vacilou! Ele deveria ter feito na primeira ou na última onda o que JJF fez contra Medina: errar as duas manobras iniciais, ficar dando rasgadas em onda sem buraco e ainda cair na última manobra para tirar 8,77. Ficar dando batidão na parte mais crítica da onda e cair em free fall cavernoso é manobra que não vale muito pra esses juízes da WSL.

    I thought Felipe got ripped off by the judges until I watched this again. John John's turns were more vertical, more critical, and had more of these critical turns in his two best results. Toldeo looked like he was surfing with more enthusiasm, but his turns were not as numerous and critical as John's.

      Nelly Nelson Yeah that’s definitely up for debate, because many “American” sports were actually Native American or Native Polynesian. For example, Lacrosse 🥍 and surfing 🏄 were both native sports popularized by the colonists. However, I would argue that they are American considering their origins were in a current American state (Hawaii)

      Nelly Nelson
      I agree with you that it’s an Ancient Polynesian sport popularized much later by Hawai’i and then later the United States, followed by Australia, New Zealand, Brazil etc. you have to admit though California is really where all the current popularity for board sports like snowboarding/surfing started during the 1960’s-1990’s

    JJ ganhou mais uma bateria a base de Lay back. Desde a bateria do Medina não vi ele completar uma batida na parte crítica da onda. Errou todas. No final os juízes deram uma nota muito mais alta para ele do que realmente vale e jogaram para baixo todas as ondas dos demais citados. Ridículo. Nenhuma variação de manobra e grande valorização disso por parte dos juízes.
