Perfect. Great to know that 24 hrs is all that is needed to determine if sprouted seeds from viability test have successfully taken root. Thank you Jeff.
This is a great video, and a great addition to the last one. I almost tried this method to start my tomatoes this year, but it's a new variety I've never had before so I did it the old fashioned way. (New seeds, germination a little too good) I usually try to plant my sprouted seedlings before they grow their cotyledons, with the sprouted part facing down and the seed hull at the top. I'll let the seed emerge on its own, and there isn't really any noticeable shock (probably because it's all under the soil haha) I don't really lose plants this way, and it also weeds out the slow emerging seeds that may lag behind throughout the season if you only select the strongest plants.
Thanks again, Jeff! The hardest part for me is always waiting to see if anything-or how much is going to come up. Your methods, in both this & the previous Garden Quicky, have really helped me avoid unnecessary labor of prepping a bigger garden patch than I need right now!
Exactly Patricia....for some seeds you're wondering about, the viability test is perfect.....then for those that can, planting those sprouted seeds up means no waste! 🙂
I DID IT! And with great success! I planted 3 different type of tomato seedlings from my viability tests. They’re looking wonderful! I’m so excited! Thank you, thank you, thank you for providing this step by step info! 😊
When my seeds sprout like the latest venture with DILL I place the whole paper towel in the hole and cover with soil. DONE DEAL. First time I did it I was worried. No need
@@TheRipeTomatoFarms *thanks for the reply* .. I was also hesitant, because I have heard store bought veggies (used for seed) will grow a beautiful plant, but won't produce a yield 🤔

It really is Dee.....the sprouts will just kick if they don't take...that's the beauty of it, no guess work! 🙂

That really is the best time to move them to soil...much easier to work with! 🙂

Thank you Jeff.
Cheers Tassie, thanks for watching! 🙂
Right on time! Excellent content
Thanks Noel! 🙂
Hi Jeff, Thank you for another great video and take care 🙂
Hey Christine, thanks for watching! 🙂
i do not like paper towels for germinating. Coffee filters work much better. The roots do not grow into paper filters like they can with paper towels
Ooh, great tidbit - thanks!
Very nice👍👍
Thanks! 🙂
Pretty neat idea!!
Thanks Mike! 🙂
Thanks for showing the planting process the
I'm going to try this thanks 😊
That is a GREAT IDEA!
Cheers Pogger!
@@shanwilson8891 Thanks Shan! 🙂
This is a great idea. I usually don't do a seed viability test but when I do I will trying this. Thanks
For sure Bev. It also works for people who pre-sprout their seeds anyways...not necessarily doing a dedicate test.
Loves me some quickie👍
🙂
Do you completely cover the sprouts?
Just the roots

Perfect for a clumping plant like herbs or beets or carrots. Not ideal for tomatoes and peppers and cucumbers, LOL. Cheers!
Garden Virgin Here .. what's everyone's thoughts on planting sprouts that occurred inside of a store bought roma tomato 🤔
Hey Amber, Romas generally seed true. I say go for it!
