Poison is from not being able to have open mind to understand other viewpoints. Ulema class seem to want to promote their own understanding as the correct one.
If one summarizes the core teachings of Quran, it will be :
1) How to understand God
2) How to prepare for our day of judgement (Akhirah)
3) How to create a just society
First 2 are individual efforts.
Third is collective but will evolve over time, so we should discuss, debate, accommodate various viewpoints. It does not need to be 1-size fits all.
