I was amazed that you intuited nearly everything leading up to the assassination, but you didn't sus out that Katniss was going to kill Coin. That said, it's a brutal series with a lot of depth. I'm glad that you stuck with it, and that you allowed it to impact you. It isn't meant to be happy: it's meant to help you question the reality of the violence we inflict on each other, and the institutions that support it. Thank you for sharing your journey.
Look, I was on Coin’s ass like white on rice, she wasn’t fooling me with her fake sincerity. Just a power hungry lady! I’m glad Katniss saw it too by the end before it got out of control. It was definitely a hard watch at times but the storytelling, world building, characters, action & adventure, real world parallels truly made it quite the experience!
Not sure if you remember… Gale was talking with Beetee in part one about bombs having a secondary explosion… so support would come in and then they’d take more people out. So in theory… Gale gave the rebels the idea that killed Prim.
also I think the book says she was technically too young by 13's rules so someone would have had to specifically make an exception for her to be deployed (ie Coin)

We don't know if he would have objected to the use of their own people's deaths, and not as a necessity to end the war, but as a tactic to solidify Coin's own power. Gail was tasked with designing effective traps and tactics based on his knowledge of human and animal behavior. What he is completely liable for, however, is feeding the mentality that could envision such brutal methods. He was already an angry person before the events of the Hunger Games. After the fire bombing, he was nothing but determined and blind rage. Katniss questioned his thinking repeatedly and was shut down every time.

In the books, what clued Katniss into Coin's duplicity was the fact that Prim was even there at all in an active war zone. This girl is 13, and while yes she's a talented medic, it was established that even District 13 doesn't normally let children join the front lines like that. Katniss realized Coin put her there SPECIFICALLY so she would get killed so that Katniss would blame the Capitol for her death and side even harder with Coin. Too bad it backfired hard.
In the books, Coin's eyes were described as the as gray, very light gray, "The color of slush that you wish would melt away." Slush = dirty snow So yeah, it was a book hint that she was evil. And on screen, it made her look very unsettling, along with the actress' portrayal that made her look "scripted".

After she shot Coin she goes to take the pill but Peeta slaps it out of her hand but it’s too fast to really see unless you’re really paying attention. She was already ready to die for the entirety of book 3 and don’t forget what Johanna said about being prepared to die in order to do what needs to be done. She wanted to join her dad and prim and rue and Finnick and wiress and mags etc

It's whar made it so sad what Snow did to him. Just because he doesn't have the ruthless instincts the others have doesn't make him weak or less of a man. And Katniss said it best herself at the end of the book. "That what I need to survive is not Gale's fire, kindled with rage and hatred. I have plenty of fire myself. What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again. And only Peeta can give me that." He never needed to he anything other than exactly how he was.
Katniss said yes so Coin would think she had Katniss on her side and she would fall in line with what Coin wanted, to make her think Katniss had fallen for Coin's trick with the bombs and was blaming Snow for it. Had she done anything else, had she argued against holding a new Hunger Games, then Coin would have gone back to seeing her as a threat and she might have found some way to eliminate her. Haymitch looked at Katniss because he felt that she had a plan, that she wouldn't have said yes unless she had a good reason for it, and that is why he stood with her and voted yes.
I feel like we need the perfectly written ending of the books as a comment under every one of those videos. So here you go: Peeta and I grow back together. There are still moments when he clutches the back of a chair and hangs on until the flashbacks are over. I wake screaming from nightmares of mutts and lost children. But his arms are there to comfort me. And eventually his lips. On the night I feel that thing again, the hunger that overtook me on the beach, I know this would have happened anyway. I hate how useless they made Peeta seem to be in these movies when in the books, he is physically strong and better than Katniss in close altercations. They didn’t even at least highlighted how he was charming and extremely good with people that Katniss believed he’s more fit to be the face of rebellion.

After TBOSAS it got me thinking if Katniss wouldn't kill Coin Gale's would have become like Coryo. Coin was to Gale like Dr. Gaule for Coryo. Like Haymitch said all of them are survivors, all of them still gets nightmares, hallucinations and PTSD but the them (including Johanna, Beete and Annie) of them have their own way to cope. Yes its a bittersweet ending.
What the HELL are u talking about? Petta was killing the Mutts while in handcuffs saving Katniss. U need to re-watch that scene. I totally disagree with ur attitude towards Petta. There are plenty of time when Petta saves Katniss. It's just not blantly in ur face like Katniss saves are but if u think about it, each of their saves goes along with their personality. Katniss is up in your face, like her saves and kills. Where Petta is the opposite and so is his kills and saves, meaning u have to be really be paying attention.
These books destroyed me and later i found out that the author was working for Nickelodeon, thats why she was so good in writing the media manipulation part of these books/movies.

i'm thinking about how one thing coin can be in this story is kind of a stand in for who katniss could be, where katniss rejecting it is rejecting becoming someone like that, someone who just becomes another version of the authority she's fighting against now. and the whole time the story keeps a focus on what people are actually doing as what matters more than like, their personality being a certain way & whether everyone likes them. like coin is presented as being "performative" in a way where that Fakery is obviously meant to be bad, but all the elements of this, where she's not that "naturally" charismatic but follows a script to a degree & puts on some more warmth / performance of sincerity sometimes & even lies & tricks people, even to kill them, are all things katniss & other people did to gain support she needed to live during the games, with this emphasis on katniss especially being uncharismatic and unlikable and needing to perform extra hard. that's not necessarily what's bad about coin, nor is like the general sentiment of "doing what must be done / that's just how it is in war" which could also be applied to surviving the games & is always pretty vague, & that's how there can be that suspense all throughout about whether katniss can trust coin & whether things will end with coin's leadership as a sort of "okay Enough" ending. but when the focus is on what coin's been actually doing, regardless of her vibes lol, she's focused on increasing her own power & other people are solely assets to use to serve that end, whereas katniss has always been fighting to survive and fighting for others' survival as well, and while she uses the ways she's given status in that fight, she's not trying to gain power or enshrine that for herself. killing snow would've been personally satisfying And increased her status, but she does what not only needs to be done for others, using her status to put herself in that position (and again putting on a performance & lying to get there lol), but risks her life & certainly entire status in doing so.
If you haven't already watched this show, I recommend Avatar the Last Airbender the cartoon from 2005. It's only 3 seasons long but it packs a punch with some of the best writing out there.

The thing with the vote about the Capitol Games is that it wasn't just about whether or not to have them. They were an alternative to her purging pretty much the whole Capitol population. So whichever way the victors voted, they would be held responsible for it--either reinstating the Games, or choosing a Reign of Terror against anyone who might have Capitol loyalties.

He lies to Katniss and really buys into 13's approach to the war. Also, Katniss is a mess after Prim dies, she completely shuts down and only gets herself together once Peeta comes home and she sees him worried about her. And finally, Katniss feeling safe enough to have kids goes back to one of the first scenes in the Hunger Games where she says she'll never have kids because of the world they live in. Pres. Coin in the books was in her 50’s, Pres. Snow was in his 80’s, timeline doesn’t match with Lucy. I could understand if perhaps Pres. Coin was Lucy’s daughter.
While she’s most likely Lucy’s daughter I kinda think she’s also Snow’s daughter too with how they mirror each other and the lake scene implies that they probably were intimate

There's something poetic about Prim's death. She was the reason this started and with her death it also ended. It all comes full circle.
The actor who played Plutark the game maker passed away before the last movie. Which made it difficult to finish his part.
