Man is killin' the game. So much value. Would love to see a Porches video. Something simlilar to "I Miss That". His vocal processing style is very interesting and I haven't seen anyone really capture his style in a tutorial ever.
Another great song - I'm a big fan of Men I Trust too. For those asking about chords, I think its something along these lines Intro/Chorus: Emaj7 A#m7b5 G#m Amaj7 x2 end on Emaj7 to go to verse Verse: B A G#m7 Gmaj7 A x2 Outro: Gmaj7 F#m7 B
I love your vocal timbre. As soon as you add doubles I'm instantly swept away to Elliot Smithville. Love it! Also, I feel like the band next door is like the recurring "eye-rolly" neighbor archetype from a sitcom or something. I chuckle every time. Great vid!
Thank you, Joel! I appreciate that! Haha yeah, I thought it would be cool if I did some skits with them and they would be those characters I would knock on their door and complain to and we would have these little back and forth confrontations. Sit-com style skits. But, I mean, I don’t know them nor have I’ve ever seen what they look like. The idea in my head is pretty funny though haha!
I don’t think I’ve come across Ivy before- At least not to my knowledge. I was thinking about doing separate videos for that. The video would be way too long if I incorporated the entire process. And according to my RUclips analytics, most people are only watching 2-3mins of the videos🤷🏻♂️
@@bananalabs I tried to post a link to Ivy's spotify, but I guess RUclips doesn't like that. Anyway, I hope more people watch for longer. You have a great channel here.
Just in time! I was going into withdrawal... btw, you seem to prefer placing samples on the timeline rather than using a (free) drum sampler like Sitala. Care to explain?
Haha ✊🏻 I feel like I have more control when I drag and drop each drum sample into individual tracks so that I have a better options with post production/mixing.
@@bananalabs I can understand that. When I use Sitala in Reaper, It automatically sets up routing for all the samples (16 extra tracks) which is overkill most of the time. On the other hand, testing/swapping out a kick drum on the fly is quite quick.
he's using the session dry drums. you can see him select it in the browser. if you want more drums like this do a google search on dampened dry drums/tea towel drums
mit bass lines are more melodic/percussive. Perhaps more funk influenced in that regard and a big shaper of the overall sound imo. This song gives me more mac d and newer beach house vibes (if vocal formant kicked down a notch ). Still a good tune tho 👍
Some of the chords I used for this particular Men I Trust song are influenced by them. That’ll go for all the songs I create on this channel depending on the artists. I’ll do a more in depth explanation in the future videos.
Finally a song that DOES sound like Men I Trust. A W E S O M E job.

Thank you, Andrew! That’s a really cool song and I think it’d be fun to try something like that. I’ll give it a shot! Thanks for the suggestion!

This band Men I Trust reminds me of Ivy (RIP Adam Schlesinger) a little. btw, really need want to see the mix process (a few more times).

That sounds like it would be a fun one to do. I’ll definitely consider doing one of those very soon. Thanks for the suggestion!
Could you go more into the production and mixing?

Right on. I don’t think I’ve heard of Sitala. I’ll check that out though. Thanks!
This sounds lovely! What are you using for drum samples?
Some drum sounds from ableton!

What do you do to deal with latency?
If you go to preferences, then to audio, there’s a column where you can adjust the latency.
can you explain the thought process behind your chord choices pls
