I got my belt axe from them about a year ago now and I love it. Beautiful and powerful piece of equipment, just like my origin jeans, belt, boots, and gi. Maine made is the best made!
I ordered the Allagash Cruiser in January 2021. Due to production backlog it didn't arrive until June. The letter 'D' is stamped into it (thank you for the fine job), & I'm into my second winter using it on my firewood. It is amazing to me how much a quality axe can make such a difference when cutting wood to size for the fireplace. It is worth every penny and Brant & Cochran was an extremely great company to deal with. I could not be happier with my Allagash Cruiser.
I am old enough to have watched most of the manufacturing leave Maine. I had relatives who worked in shoe shops, weaving mills and tanning. I try to buy locally made. I bought dress shoes made in Lewiston Maine which I have owned for 30 years. They cost more than those from a "big box" store but the quality is outstanding. You have to pay for the quality. It feels good to support local craftsmen.
Love it, jocko bringing and friends bringing jobs back to the beautiful US of A. God bless all of you, im a few states down and love all your doing, i also have fsmily in the state and may move their soon.
Just got one! Very beautiful, my mother from Maine said it was made right near she grew up ❤️ I love supporting the three sisters (Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine)
These are actually very price competitive with other premium axes. The cruiser is a bit more than you’d pay for a gransfors bruks or a hunts bruk, but close enough when I need a new axe I wouldn’t exclude this one on price.
Said it perfectly just at the end. Your product, "it's something special"🍻 Thank you all for the work you do! I'm very excited to get my hands on one of your axes in the near future
Awesome! Will they make scythes as well? I have a scythe blade that's about 100 years old from Maine which I use now and then, with another one about 80 years old I use every week.
Maine wedge axe hand made by a local blacksmith artist who makes custom Blades. He does do the Maine wedge pattern. So a heads up, others do make it. Just not in solid full time production. He’ll also make Any knife or blade you want bone wood synthetic handles. It’s really cool how well he makes stuff with this super high quality steel from pre WWII
i have a question about your boots and jeans! i work in earth work and paving and id love to get some maine made gear is it made to last for these conditions i cant even find out if the boots are steel toe!
Maine and the UP of Michigan had so much production so much pride and so many inventions came from the hard times. Made life good. Not to Mention printing money was still not a thing. We had to acquire more gold or silver to have more dollars.
American ax factory, what kind of wood is the handle made from? I support the channel. Your channel has 200 more turns to hit the youtube silver button. Congratulations on that happy day. I come from far away Vietnam
Except historically, there was no such thing as "Maine wedge" axe pattern. There was a half wedge pattern, a wedge pattern, and a Maine pattern. Comparing the Allagash cruiser axe that BNCTools makes to the pattern charts, it appears to me to be a half wedge pattern, or maybe a Maine Pattern. A wedge pattern has totally straight and flat cheeks bit to poll, and the Allagash cruiser does not. Calling it a "Maine Wedge" pattern is misinformation in a historical context. If you want to make up your own pattern name and call it a "Maine Wedge pattern" then fine, just don't act like it is historically correct.
they didnt quit because they wanted too . they quit because you can buy better for less, its not fair, thats evolution. but like you said, youve been at it for 6 years, so apparently there is still enough nostalgia to feed on for your families, i hope. just like the old guys who quit.
That’s all great but it’s an axe! It’s gunna be abused! I can buy 7-8 quality axes for the amount they sell these things and not want to hang then on the wall so the don’t get lost. Heck $250 I don’t want to scratch it. Must be rich wood cutters over there in Maine
$250 isn’t a little bit to pay, but I call BS on you buying a $35 axe (250/7) and it being just as good or even “quality”. I’ve restored old axes from the early and mid 1900s and can tell you that I’ve had issues removing the handle from the eye, whereas some of the axes I’ve held from big brand stores already have poorly fitted handles. Additionally? The big name companies use crap materials and your blades either come nit sharpened or poorly sharpened and are made from poor materials and dull quickly. Even if you want to get a hults bruk axe which is quality, it’ll run you $150 or so. $250 isn’t out of the question, especially since that money goes towards our communities and not to a slave shop overseas and into the bucket of a corporation.

Saving the skills and tools from the past is a truly great thing to see.
True, but it looks like a few of them have an axe to grind.
Heck yeah! Being a knife maker myself, I love that yall are in the space!

I didn’t believe he was from Maine until he peppered a “wicked” in there

I feel origin would legitimately be an amazing company to work for.
You folks should also look into Lie-Nielsen Toolworks out of Warren,Maine.

BUT CAN YOU SHIP TO ALASKA? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
We ship to Alaska all the time. No problem there.
I’m in the market for a axe right now... might as well support North American 🇺🇸🇨🇦
You can't make a proper axe if you don't have a Boondock Saints poster in your shop.
Women at the forge! YES!
🇺🇸🇺🇸
Go BEAVERS!!
