Local chicken also start laying at 17 or 18 weeks. It all depends on the diet you feed them. They lay over 200 eggs per year. I started with them. I still have them now.

For Local Chicken, true they take a break but the magic is, farmers rare them at different stages (age). You find some are 2 months old, others 3 or 4 months. So the laying period differs that is why they keep getting eggs at all times.
