The world needs more Cozy Powell tributes! ;) In my opinion he iinvented "heavy drumming".
technically Keith Moon and Carmine Appice were the first "heavy drummers" with Carmine coming in slightly ahead.

@@dftns Stylewise Bonham wasn't really heavy metal. He was probably/maybe the technical better drummer but the difference is... imagine Bonham would have drummed A light in the black or Kill the King, both would be totally different songs. Bonham was more groovy while Powell started IMHO this machine like metal drumming style.
The Beatles invented heavy drumming in Helter Skelter.

That whole album is brilliant. Saw Cozy on the tour of this album in Glasgow Apollo. Those bass drums shook the whole of Glasgow.
Wow i really enjoyed tis stumbled-on vid. That was pushing the song along! ! but actually helped me appreciate Cozy's drumming which i used to think was driving a bit too hard like he needed to go to the loo or catch a bus, but if it was as assuring as in this vid then i get it now.... and i actually enjoyed LANS which is a song i never used to rate

She's got power! But...sorry to say that she's everywhere!She's behind the beats often & stumbling! And at some point she's going ahead of the beats! She looks good & powerful, though.
Now learn to twirl the sticks with the left hand between beats and the right before of after crashes. Looks can enhance any performance. Great playing on this for sure. I too loved Cozy's playing...always knowing what to play and what not to play. keep up the great work.
