❤️ remember this night.. was their that night😍 still remember it vividly! i was right in front of him on one of the dancing podiums on the bottom floor it was a classic club with 3 circling levels you could look down from level 2 also it was a great club back in the day all changed ruined now but the atmosphere & sound was like no other!! i was dancing like crazy what a night it was!! about 3000 over capacity it was a classic set one for the ages will always remember...with all the energy of end of millennium & Sydney Olympic atmosphere building it was a time to remember

I've listened to his essential mixes from 99 that he did in Shanghai, Space in Ibiza and Havana, Gatecrasher - Lotherton Hall is the best to rave to obviously, but this mix is the best for me personally - the shifts from uptempo to downtempo are done so well between the tracks and those with lyrics in them are just all in the right places. His new autobiography is also worth reading.
we used to to go see him at cream liverpool in 97 back then he played in the small back room the annex, fuckin ace tony de vit used play in that room as well on the all nighters 10till 6 de vit would often have the closing set at like 5-6 clubbing was so good back then, no real agro all about music dancing an going mental lol in a good way

Didn’t start or end in the ‘90s. Started listening in the 60’s people, still listening to the father’s and grandfather’s of trance and dance. Just like this long road, there is no end to looking back BUT also moving forward. And this is said by someone who has obviously been around longer than most of you!

I understand Oakey’s career and that he has always spun a little house. I’m a trance DJ and of course I spin a little house too. Good tunes are good tunes, regardless of genre. But again, Oakenfold somewhat abandoned trance in the early 2010’s. Just my opinion. His stuff the last few years is mostly remixes of his excellent stuff from 20-25 years ago.
