OMG, Keren, you have me so hooked on everything! Colors, techniques, recycling tips, you name it. I'm at the point where, once I open RUclips, my motto is now "if in doubt, click Keren" for inspiration, education and even relaxation. My fave color combo here is Weathered Wood. Thank you so much!
Belinda, Mixed media is a whole another world ..... once you're in it you're hooked. I know you do more fine art but combining the two would be marvelous. Thank you so much about your motto it means a lot to me...
LOL I'm feeling bad that I'm enabling you so much. I didn't get the dye ink I only got the oxide because they are my favorite and it doesn't come in mini lol so you could get a different one and just wait for the mini dye lol. Thank you so much for your support as it has meant so much me and I think you know what I mean!!
Excellent.Video,Keren. .Loving your new way of making videos. Excellent for beginners. I have the Speckled Egg on my Joggles wishlist. It’s a “gotta have.”
Keren, GREAT video. My color junkie heart went pitty-pat! Thank you for something that gave me a lift in these crushing times. Keep up the great work! You are appreciated.
Awesome Keren! Speckled Egg is a gorgeous new colour. Love all of your colour combos, its amazing really how many different ones we could create! I'm inspired to create a sample smoosh book like you've done here, would be much more fun than just doing it with my small pieces of watercolour paper that i usually do and put on a ring. Love that you talked a bit about the colour wheel to and be inspired by the colours of nature. I love clouds, and have since i was little, ours out here in the southern prairies remind me of cotton candy on sunny days, and the sunsets, oh my gosh the colours are amazing with the reds, purples, pink, yellows, and oranges!! I've laughed out loud trying to match distress colours as we drive in the early evenings. My favourites are fall colours though, I love the warmth and coziness they inspire! But then I also love blues, purples, and pinks ;D When we were choosing colours to paint our home with I was inspired by the land and sky around us. Our living room is a warm caramel colour, our kitchen is yellow with white, and our bathroom I painted one small wall with a nice robins egg blue. My husband created a beautiful stone tub surround with real stone from BC, as close to oceanside as we'll get out here :)
wow that sounds so beautiful. My house is mainly brown and beige colors. a lot of people love neutral whites and greys but I love the warm browns, the earth tones ground me as they are close to nature. I love how you got inspired by the colors of nature. I really feel like all the combinations are out there. and fall colors are also my favorite, especially here in canada.
Keren Tamir it wasn’t until we bought our little farmhouse that everything in our house wasn’t white and brown, white walls, brown and wood furniture...it was both fun and a little scary to use colour on our walls, but I really craved a feeling of sanctuary, and knowing I would spend the majority of my days at home because of my illnesses my husband wanted me to feel as comfortable as possible and letting me pick the paint colours was the easiest first step!! The tough part was adjusting from having always lived in a big house to living in a small house. Our children are all grown and in their own homes though so it made sense to downsize. Now if I could somehow capture the beauty of the stars in our amazing night skies.....✨🤗✨
Love this video! I have a few of the mini and haven't played with them in a long time. Love this technique and these are very nice color combinations! I tend to go for rustic combinations but I should try that pink purple blue one. Need this new Speckled Egg color...very pretty!
these are the oxides so they don't come in mini, the effect of this technique is one of my favorites and the effect is better with them than with the regular distress inks. the speckled egg is really better than I eggspeckted (love the pun lol)
Thank you Keren. I was just done using both distress inks and oxides. Love your video💕😍😊 the smooshing technique is my favorite to making beautiful effects.😊
oh not done yet!! the oxides are my favorite they are the type of product I can go back and back to again and again. Smooshing is my favorite technique too thank you so much!
Thank you so much Karen, I really really love 💕 this, the colour combinations you’ve made as WOW 😮 WOW 😮 WOW 😮. This was so helpful and useful too. Stay safe and well too xxx Mags
Great video. Love it, thank you. Can you tell me what the page things are that hold the book together please. It looks so handy to be able to take pages out. Thank you
Karen, this video was awesome!!! I never know what colors to use together. I'm really awful at that. This would be awesome to just make a little book like yours! thank you!
@@KerenTamir I didn't buy this new color. I actually have all the oxide sprays, but not all of the ink pads. So I'd have to play with all different colors... But this gives me the incentive to play!!
I got my Speckled Egg on Saturday,,, I had a play and I put them blues together and Wow love love it ,,,,,. Xxxx😍😘😊 must play with all the other colours,,,,xxxx 🌈🎨👏😊💕
Oh gosh I just got Speckled Egg! I cannot wait to try these! ❤️ Also good idea to look at nature! I’m going to pay more attention when walking our dogs!
Yes Jennifer its a good practice to look around. Wether it is nature or product designers they've done the job for us in terms of color combinations, you just have to look around. I feel its out there for us but most people don't pay attention. have fun playing!!
WOW! You used so many combinations I would not have thought of, Keren. I don't know which is my favorite. I only have 24 oxides will have to get more. TFS 💜💜💜💜💜
Elaine you don't need more than 24. I really tried it with different shades of those same colors and it looked amazing. if you look at the book at the end you will see how they were done with different shades. It works beautifully. thank you so much my friend!!
I guess I'm the only duck in the pond who didn't know abt the existence of Tim's Speckled Egg.. I swear all those times y'all talked abt it in the live chat I thought you referred to, well, speckled egg. LOL. Turned out it's a very pretty color, and so versatile! Thank God I clicked on your video, Keren. Now I know. XD
Thank you Karen, beautiful and I love your presentation! Quick question what paper did you use to create that little booklet, i want to make one for myself. I think some people call it an art journal. I love making cards, but I’d love to have a journal of all the techniques for myself.
I use both and love both so its hard to tell. you can see videos on my channel with the sprays as well. but if you like a more controlled look the the ink pads are better as you can create liquid colors from them as well
I"m definitely not an artist, but would never have thought of putting the ink down then spraying it. I've only seen it used in junk journals as an antiquing finish on the edge of pages. Ahhh...just looked at mine - it's distress ink; didn't realize the oxide was different. :)
yes its a little different. the effect is more oxidized and less like a water stain. but the distress ink still gives an amazing result too. thank you so much!
en realidad me encantan los azules y generalmente los mas oscuros pero este tiene una calidad vintage o de hacer añejo que me encanta. muchisimas gracias Anuska abrazos
There were several of those that I really love! I only have probably about 18 to 20 colors but I just love distress oxide inks. I don't know if anybody else would see it but I think it was the second one it was the raspberry and the purple that you did with the blue. After you did the first smooshing and flipped the card over I totally saw a giant penguin. It was really cool and then you did another smooshing and it was gone LOL
LOL the smooshing thing can make some cool designs and its fun to see objects in them like in clouds. If you look at the end of the video you the book I made was with the same tones but different colors. You can definitely use what you have. no need to buy different colors.
@@KerenTamir yeah I started out thinking I needed all 60 so I bought a set of 12, then realized I don't need the whole set so then I kind of regretted the set because there were some that I didn't care for as much then I just bought some more single colors that I really liked. I may get a few more but I'm set fairly well with what I've got. But I sure do love the way they blend and look.
@@borleyboo5613 well either we have incredibly artistic Minds, or we're nuts LOL I'm going for the first one and for me well I fit the second one too I can't lie LOL. Hi Laura it comes like that from Joggles. I have it listed under the video. It’s 140lbs watercolor paper. Thanks so much.
What paper did you use for your lovely samples?
Its a 140lbs watercolor paper. It's part of the disc bound journal which is linked in the description

The oxides have pigment in them so they are more of a solid colour, but they react well to water as well. Give it a go.
