    Hi Amy! Love your videos! Do you have a tutorial on how to make a garland for, say, a rope swing? Thanks!

    • @FlowerMoxie
      @FlowerMoxie  2 года назад

      If you want it really hardcore, then I would just use Sam's Club pre-made garland. But for a rope swing, I feel you could get away with Italian ruscus and wraping some bind wire around the the rope to hold it in place.
      Italian Ruscus is about 3ft per strand, so I would just double it up.

    very helpful tutorial! How long would you envision the first floral spray to last without water source? Do you use a hydration chamber method to make in advance, then hydrate? I sometimes find myself reverting to the little oasis pods out of concern for hydration....

    • @FlowerMoxie
      @FlowerMoxie  2 года назад

      Ah, good question! I'm with you on using an Oasis pod because it holds the product while providing hydration at the same time.
      I have never used the hydration chamber for sign florals, but I would imagine it would work great! The only conflict would be the stem length and your chamber size.
      Mainly, I try to use hardy blooms that can hang out for several hours without a water source, so things like roses, carnations, cushion flowers, stock or snaps, and going heavy on greens if the vibe calls for it.

    Def like-buttoned this one before I watched, and I was right 😙 You have been so helpful to me and I really appreciate it!
    Question: do you have a video on using/prepping/conditioning Silverdust Dusty Miller (Cineraria)? It’s perennial in my garden so I have huge ones (that’s what she said) and have a baby shower for my nephew coming up where I would love to utilize it. I’ve used it in plenty of arrangements at home and it’s great freshly picked but I’ve never traveled with it or used it in foam which would have to happen for the shower. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it for sale at my local flower shop either which makes me wonder about whether it will sh*t the bed.
    Also, I have been given free rein on flowers for this one and was thinking of doing a blue on blue almost monochromatic thing with this recipe:
    Dusty Miller
    Olive greenery
    Silver dollar euc
    Blue thistle
    Blue hydrangeas
    Blue boy bachelor button (another from my garden that I never see on sale, will these bitch out?)
    White lisianthus
    Queen Anne’s lace (from my garden)
    White hypericum
    Baby’s breath
    These will all be in low arrangements on a dark table in foam (except the hydrangeas which will be in a larger arrangement in water)
    I tried to come up with decent textural contrast, but I’m worried it will look like a washed out blob and second guessing if I need to break it up with some dark green foliage and chartreuse filler flowers. Thoughts?
    Thanks again for the amazing videos 🙃💐✨

    • @FlowerMoxie
      @FlowerMoxie  2 года назад +2

      Hello Kelli! Thank you for your kind words and for your question! Ok, so dusty miller can be a floppy bitch, but it works when you nestle it down into supporting flowers like hydrangea. My neighbor has some lambs ear and I'm always snipping some and it tends to be long-lasting but the stuff at wholesale can be pretty dang hit and miss, but as long as you nestle it then I think you'll be fine!
      I'm a fan of monochormatic vibes right now! I think what you're planning sounds dreamy and I think the QAL will give it a really nice garden vibe! If you feel it's blobby then I'd add some soft buttery yellows like Yellow Stock, but I'd hold off on making that call until I made my first centerpiece.
      So Button Boys, which we call Cornflower down in Okie-land, look delicate but when I pluck them out of my garden I find them long-lasting. When I've bought them from wholesale it's hit and miss, but I'd still go for it!
      My advice on foam is to have a trash stem to make the hole before inserting the delicate blooms. That way, the 'good stem' is not clogged with foam on the end and can drink better. Does that make sense?

    • @kellic8665
      @kellic8665 2 года назад +1

      @@FlowerMoxie You are welcome, and thank YOU! 💙✨ I am so grateful for you sharing your wisdom and experience, as well as your ideas! I love the thought of maybe throwing some butter yellow into the mix - my inspiration was sort of a blue sky and clouds thing and I think the yellow would work so much better with that than any of the greens I was considering, so I am definitely going to keep that in mind if I feel that the monochromatic-ish blues aren’t coming together.
      And I’m so glad to know that my garden grown stuff has the potential to work in “real” arrangements and not just the vase on my table. I don’t know why I always get nervous about that - I mean, a flower I picked this morning should be a lot sturdier and longer lasting than one that has traveled the world in multiple vehicles! So thank you for the confidence boost - apparently I needed it 😅
      The trash stem pre-poking of the foam totally makes sense as well - that is an awesome tip that I will definitely be using.
      Thank you so much again for taking the time to respond so thoughtfully to my huge rambling post - you are so appreciated! 💐🙂

      If you use a foam iglu cage you can make it the day before, just remember to re-wet the foam the following day and store it in a cool location or the fridge. And avoid heavy drinkers like hydrangeas, which would be too fatty for the iglu anyways!

    How long in advance could I make this so that the flowers still look good for the big day of?

    • @FlowerMoxie
      @FlowerMoxie  2 года назад +1

      If you're going the swag route then I'd recommend making two bouquets and tying them together the day-of. So you can make the bouquets in advance and keep them in water, but you can't pull them out and tie them together until the event date. That allows you to work ahead, however!
      For a foam pew holder or Iglu, you can make it the day before beginning to end!

    • @FlowerMoxie
      @FlowerMoxie  11 месяцев назад +1

      That is a great question! Using a floral foam cage can cause some dripping to happen to you'll want to be careful of that with your photos. We recommend having your clothespins and florals in place and then attaching your photos last so they aren't damaged. Or you can create a floral swag that doesn't use a floral foam cage but you would want to create that on the day of the wedding!

    Why do you have to add distasteful language in your words on screen. Not necessary!!

      Hey Joyce, I like to put commentary that is funny to me on my tutorials. I do realize my sense of humor isn't a fit for everyone, however. Hopefully, you're able to ignore the humor that isn't for you and learn from my tutorials, if not, I'm pretty much the only floral channel out there with random commentary so I feel confident there are other floral channels you can learn from. I wish you the best! Amy
