- This week, I wanted to share my thoughts on coloured pencils. I am incredibly loyal to this medium and still feel guilty every time I try to pick my favourite. I’d like to share here my reasons for this loyalty as well as a few thoughts on realism, self-development and a couple of tips for starting an art business.

I LOVED this video! You are so humble, you are extremely talented! It’s great that you’ve worked on yourself and cleared any blocks around money and any limiting beliefs. Never feel ‘bad’ talking about money, in today’s world, it’s the measure of a successful business. I’m one of your academy members who lurks away in the background but the joy you inspire in me when I watch you drawing, is beyond measure. Thank you for all that you do, not just with the practical side but in helping people to raise their vibrations and believe in themselves! Here’s to another year of learning and reaching that £1m, I, for one, am cheering you on 🥰
Thank you so much ❤️
Love this tutorial ❤ as always you get it right in so many ways 😊
I could not agree with you more! I absolutely LOVE colored pencils! The smooth colors you can create with them can be so beautiful and life-like. Sketching, drawing, and using colored pencils is the best way to go!
Perfect timing, yet again, for the perfect video. You started my day off just right. Thank you so much! You bolster what is already my mindset and are a welcome affirmation to just stay on my path. Thanks Bonny! I really appreciate all you offer to your audience. My osteoarthritis hates doing this (typing) but loves the therapy of drawing. I take your tutorials and lessons and apply my own style and I think I am progressing nicely. At 64 years of age I am on a completely new path and it is exciting! When I draw I like to say I don't make mistakes, I create learning opportunities!!
Aw that's so great to hear 🥰
Hi Bonny! I love everything you do and joined the academy in Jan. I loved listening to this video, especially your point about splitting your focus vs improving upon just one medium. I absolutely can relate to todays need for instant gratification. Yellowstone tv series uggghhh! I hated having to wait 😂. I’m working myself through the Foundations Modules and having a blast. I believe art teaches us patience. Colored Pencils have become my escape into joy thanks to you! Let the dust bunnies collect 🤣
Bonny, I have followed you since I started up a small pet portrait business (in the Lockdown). I thought you were very brave to take this on full time and am so pleased you have made it such a success. I admit I was staggered when you disclosed the extent of your business!
Mine is a hobby as I am retired, but after a busy start commissions are now less frequent and I would love to see a video about growing that side of the business.
I’m
Going to be bringing out some more marketing info very soon 🥰
You somehow always have the perfect words at the perfect time for me. Since December of last year I have not been able to do much in the way of drawing. I had an accident and broke both leg bones and completely shattered the ankle all in my left leg. Reconstructive surgery kind of put me down and very seriously changed what I was able to spend any time doing. So although I have drawn here and there in my sketchbook I am spending quite a bit of time supporting other artists through their coloring books and keeping my skills sharp that way as much as possible. So I think that I have lost confidence in my ability to sit down and draw and in all seriousness I don't seem to be able to pick a subject that lights my heart enough to draw that I feel I'm competent in. I think I need a good gentle loving kick in the bottom in the right direction.
Ahh gosh - things happen - I do hope you get back drawing very soon x
I love the idea of just pencil on pencil .. for blending and everything ❤😊
Tell those people that say you should do this or that to stope SHOULDING all over you. You are brilliant in the medium that you have a passion for.
Yes I get you!. I have asked you your thoughts on pans but I can see exactly why you stick to pencils. You've mastered them and you really dont need anything else! I get annoyed when people tell you what you should and shouldnt do. They should mind their onions ! Lol
You do what you need to do. (BTW What 4 sizes would you recommend! That sounds more sensible).
This is absolutely amazing ❤ when drawing a horse from far instead of a portrait do you still draw in fur details ?
Bonny do you have any upcoming Lessons or courses coming out.? Like this video on Niching down to a Specific Medium. I have Definitely been Scattered in my Art Career. Thank you for any tips or advice.
I’ve got a workshop on December 🥰 white dog on white paper 🥰
Hello you wonderful artist soul. Hope you don’t think I am asking a daft question. Can you tell me what you mean by coloured pencils? Do you include pastel pencils which blend? Thank you xxx
Hi Brenda hello 🥰 coloured pencils are the wax and oil based ones. I never use pastels 🥰
@@BonnySnowdonAcademy thank you xx
❤ I’ve given pieces away for free and on occasion get paid work. Maybe I need to give away more?
