- Recovering the headlining in my MG3. For this I made the MG logo from 6mm MDF and stuck it onto the backing. Then recovered the headlining working the fabric into the logo for an embossed look.
Hi there!!! I enjoy how you are adding your special touch to your MG. I also have a left-handed MG3 but from 2012. Bought it 2nd hand. I am from the small island 🏝️ of Aruba Dutch Caribbean. So. Pls continue with all your great ideas. Have a great week.
Steve I’m 5 mins in and I’m thinking you’ve fecked up here - 10 mins in and it looks worse and the logo is upside down then BOOM 💥 turned out amazing and the logo is not upside down 😜 you can’t beat a piston Broke rollercoaster- thanks for putting it together mate for our enjoyment 👍🏻👍🏻
Mate, you wouldn't believe how many times I checked I had it the right way round.
I did the same too thinking that it was upside down (for me anyways) Good job I wasn’t doing it, as it would have been upside down and it would have looked sh1te too 🤣
Looks really good. One of those jobs you bet you never started. However, worth it in the end. Probably wrong in thinking this, but thought logo might look better facing the other way so when you look up from the driver’s seat, it’s the right way around. But then when you looked through from the boot at the end of the video of course it’s spot on for that view. That aside, look forward to seeing the finished job when you’ve trimmed and painted the remaining trim.
I wanted it so when you look up from the drivers seat it was the right way up. Can't have it both ways unfortunately. Yeah 2 days in and I wished I hadn't started. Took 3 days in all, 6 hours just to make the template.
@@pistonbroke yeah looked like you put some serious time and effort into that one!! Now enjoy what’s left of your holiday 😂
Nicely done and very unique
What an amazing job thank you for sharing!!!
What adhesive did you use to paste the logo onto the headliner
@@gerardovidana3466 spray contact adhesive
Did the headlining in my LR Disco D1, pulled all that foam backed shit off, (the small bits around the edge that hadn't already fallen off on their own). I scrubbed all the residual foam backing off the head lining carcass then rattle can spray painted it with satin black enamel. It looked ok and lasted very well for the ten years after that I had the Disco. Bonus, no more sagging headliner.
I did my old disco 1 because it sagged. Wire brushed all the old foam off and covered it with bass box carpet type stuff. Looked really good.
Well done .. good jop sir .. it's a wonderful work .. keep going ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks 👍
That looks quality! If only my MG3 didn't die on me
Anything can be fixed!
Nice job. Im contemplating whether to spray my parcel shelf. I believe you can buy fabric spray for jobs like that. I Need to look into it more.
You could use a spray dye. Paint will flatten the fibers and it wont have that flock feel to it.
@@pistonbroke ah right i get you thanks. the off white parcel shelf doesn't look right with a mostly black interior.
No it doesn't but I can see where they were coming from. Bottom half black, top half white. I prefer the whole lot to be dark. I'm going to cover my parcel shelf in the same stuff I did the headling with, I have loads left.
@@pistonbroke yeah should look nice that. I prefer darker interiors with a pop of color here and there. Noticed there isn't much about syling/mod wise for these mgs. I bought some mg mats the other week and they only had red/black ones. Not a fan but they go with the clocks/stereo lighting. Just had to deal with it. 🤣
What material was it? Fantastic job
It's a stretchy suede effect type material with a foam backing. You can get it from ebay.
It looks well once back in and fitted to the car! What are your next mods? 1.5 turbo engine transplant!!
Yep, I've thought about a turbo. I think maybe a 2 door conversion next.
@@pistonbroke I'm doing a custom 3 wheeled version! Seriously though it's a shame MG Motor didn't use the turbo engine.
I have got rolls of black alcantara if you decide to go darker
I wished I'd known that earlier! I should have used that, easier to work with.
Pukka job
Cheers 👍
