    I wonder if Jota will enter the Rolex 24… That would be a big threat to the IMSA regulars.

      @DuvJones 11 месяцев назад +1

      Jota sport has been very clear on that. They are committed to WEC, their efforts are not about to abandon it at this point and time.

      Don't think I could see them doing it in 2024 but perhaps it would be something they'd look at when more 963's become available!

    • @DuvJones
      @DuvJones 11 месяцев назад

      @@offintheesses I will be honest, I don't think that you will see that. One of the things about LMDh that is least discussed is this (and that mostly because this is new).... If Porsche makes improvements to the platform, they are responsible for updating the entire fleet.... that does mean that any privateer with 963 gets the update (They currently have Jota's and JDC Miller's one car effort and Proton's two car effort) in the hardware. Oh and they have to convince the FIA/ACO/IMSA over any changes made and homologate them.
      Simply put, that is a lot of work and the thing that you have to keep in mind is that as a manufacturer, Porsche is rather small. I think that this year was rather pressing because of the issues they encounter (like stopping dead in the middle of the track @ Spa, or the multitude of issues that was their LeMans race), but I don't see Porsche knocking on that door often. It's a lot of logistics.

      Yeah that's a good question, might have to do some digging! Maybe it was a number the team used to use? Or maybe Wayne used it in the past?

    • @offintheesses
      @offintheesses  11 месяцев назад +3

      We'll have to see! With GT3 being much more customer focused than GTE if they can find the right customers (and sounds like they've had a lot of interest) then I could see them sticking around for a while!

      @Eagleracer38x 11 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, the car looks absolutely gorgeous, for real! It would be great having the Mustang stay, but the only Sports Car Series they have stuck with for the long haul is Trans-Am. I'm looking forward to the new Corvettes being raced in GT World Challenge along with IMSA and WEC for next year. Maybe see they in the 2 Le Mans Series as well.

    10:15 Andretti #43. Probably a tribute to Jaret's dad John Andretti who drove the #43 Petty car for many years in the late 1990s and early 2000s in NASCAR Winston Cup. John Andretti was my favorite driver at the time. So I for sure picked up on the car number. Dang I miss Winston Cup. For me that era ended after 2003. I have had little interest in NASCAR since. Granted that is the case for Indycar and F1 too. As I have gotten older, the only form of auto racing that I got MORE interested in was Sportscars.

  • @DuvJones

    I have to admit that I am a little curious to how next year is going to go.... mostly because of LMGT3. To be fair, the GTD class was always a GT3 class, but the fact that ACO is going big on the category of car for WEC and LeMans will likely make a difference. You are already seeing some reshaping going on with GTD Pro getting a few factory efforts for Ford, I wonder if that will makes some manufacturers (the Europeans) take more of an interest in the GTD Pro class to market themselves.
    Also on a side note.... I know that Ford has invested alot in the Mustang brand and dragging it to race like this but I find it bittersweet, I would have preferred it being the Ford GT. I always liked the look of the 2016 car and did want the project to keep going, keep refining itself... it makes me wonder what Ford is going to do with all that knowledge and tech, because not all of it will be suited for F1. It also makes me wonder if they will ever reach for the mantel of Supercar, ever again.

    • @offintheesses
      @offintheesses  11 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah it would have been great to use the Ford GT but I think from a marketing perspective Ford really wants to push the Mustang! Good points on GT3, with it being eligible at Le Mans now I imagine we'll see interest tick up some more. I am slightly worried that the number of EVO kits that cars are getting will get out of hand and the typical sportscar racing thing will happen where costs start to skyrocket. We'll have to wait and see about that though.

      "Yeah it would have been great to use the Ford GT but I think from a marketing perspective Ford really wants to push the Mustang!"
      I know, I see the point but I miss the super car.... for all of Ford's attempts, Mustang isn't one those (and it's not a matter of a lack of trying). Then again, Ford has been expanding the Mustang brand quite a bit. At some point their will be a super car hole that Ford will have to fill.... maybe then the Mustang can cut it but I think that to do so, you would have to change so many markers that make it the Muscle Car that survived.
      "I am slightly worried that the number of EVO kits that cars are getting will get out of hand and the typical sportscar racing thing will happen where costs start to skyrocket."
      Agreed, one of the reasons for the big boon in the class is that many manufacturers already have a GT3 program... so LMGT3 meets a lot of manufacturers where they are. That said, once they begin to specialize for the kind of racing found in IMSA and WEC, that is where the problems begin.... GT1 and GT2/GTE burial stones can be found here, and as you put it... it's the "typical sportscar racing" thing to do. I do hope that FIA/ACO/IMSA are watching that very closely, because that is the sword the sport will lay on if given the chance.

    Think the fans need to get a petition going to get glickenhaus a exception to enter imsa, get some more American manufacturers

    • @offintheesses
      @offintheesses  9 месяцев назад

      It doesn't sound like Glick has the backing to get that car into a competitive state right. That's what they cited as a reson for pulling out of the WEC.

    • @CamPerry93
      @CamPerry93 9 месяцев назад

      @offintheesses true, but the expenses of a wec season over the year where your primarily overseas vs. an imsa campaign based solely in America would drastically reduce their budget, and the only real obstacle would be that stupid pesky 2500 car rule ,hence the petition

    • @offintheesses
      @offintheesses  9 месяцев назад

      @@CamPerry93 Yes it would reduce travel expenses although Glick was only doing the european swing and US race anyways and costs would likely increase for a full IMSA campaign. I think at the end of the day IMSA has extremely close ties to the manufacturers and wants to maintain a relationship that benefits them (also should be noted that manufacturers pay high fees to be able to compete in IMSA thus it's critical that IMSA keep them happy). If you were to go to say Porsche and say "hey as you know the grid is as full but we want to squeeze on this boutique manufacturer. As a result we're going to have cut one of your 963's from the grid." I don't think that would go over too well especially with how these boutiques come and go from the sport so frequently

    I admit i'm in the minority as my interest in IMSA has declined in the recent 2 years. Since GTLM ended honestly. That was my class. Now its gone. I'm a GT fan first and foremost. Granted I find hypercar more interesting that LMP1 and DPI. I like GT3 cars just as much but with SRO GT WC Europe, DTM, N'Ring 24. I have not watched much IMSA other than the All GT races and stuff like Daytona or Long Beach early in the year. Its just that there is so much GT racing that you can watch without having to deal with prototypes taking up space and TV time. However, with that said I am very very excited for the new Hypercar/GT3 only class structure in WEC in 2024. And hope to attend the Daytona 24 2024 in person.

      The new hype around the GTP's this year I found took even more of the limited air time away from the GTD classes. While it would be a pipe dream it's almost like a secondary broadcast is needed that focuses on the GT racing that's taking place

    Every dentist with $100,000 gets in!!! Seriously, IF Petit le Mans taught us anything it's that IMSA needs to be more exclusive in order to ensure the quality of their product. LMP2 GTFO and only one GTD class for everyone. It would drastically simplify the awful safety car procedure. 40 cars TOPS!

    • @WyldStallion-bs9oo
      @WyldStallion-bs9oo 11 месяцев назад

      I would love to see 2 Petit Le Mans 10 hour races on back to back weekends. First weekend with LMP2, LMP3 (special class for Petit only), and GTD am. The 2nd weekend would feature GTP and GTD Pro,. Lot more space to run and less safety cars guaranteed.

      Also a great example of your point is how clean the 2020 Daytona 24 was with a 38 car grid. I enjoyed that one for sure. Bigger is not always better.
