I started The Dispossessed! The beginning is so well described, I love it. Love seeing backlist scifi ladies' books getting some love.
I'm so glad you gave Empire of Silence another chance. I think the pacing improves in the following books without losing the core of what it is or its style. Also it's pronounced like Rock-ee-oh if someone hasn't already helped you out there
Love your vlogs! Pronunciation for Cixin Liu (Shee-Shan Lou) and Christopher Ruocchio (Rock - e - oh). If you ever get a chance, I recommend the Tencent version of 3 Body Problem, versus the Netflix. It's a little slow in some spots, and yes, you have to select English subtitles unless you speak Chinese, but it followed the book more closely. Netflix cut it way down and unfortunately white-washed the hell out of it. Wished you had a better employer! Hang in there girl! Claire kitty says meow to your fur babies.
Hardcovers for the series will be reprinting…DAW just reprinted Empire of Silence hardcovers after 5 years of us demanding it…if it sells well the rest of the series will get a second run in hardcover! I would def get kindle in the mean time and binge…book 6 came out in April and the finale is 50% done according to Christopher!
My best friend just left dentistry for similar things you talked about in this! It’s so much physical and mental labor you wouldn’t expect! My mom graduated from UofM and did hygienist work for 45 years which blows my mind!

Since you had a change of heart maybe you would enjoy The Justice of Kings on a second try. I enjoyed it for the themes of morality and law and reflection that Helena makes as an old woman narrating her life. The audio performance was also really great and set the mood well

I just read The Dispossessed for a class I'm taking focused on HG Wells and Ursula K. Leguin's influences on the sci-fi genre! Such an interesting book to discuss and pick apart. I'll be interesting to see what you think about it! I'm really looking forward to reading The Left Hand of Darkness in a couple of weeks too; I'm pretty sure it's been on my tbr since you read it and talked about it on the channel a couple of years ago ❤
Cixin Liu - Tsi Shin Li-Oh This is the technically correct way in Chinese. But a lot of people butcher it 😅 So it's also acceptable to just say Si-Shin Loo. Hope that helps! Also, what a pleasant surprise to find that you're also a fan of Taylor! My favorites from TTPD so far are So Long, London, The Black Dog, and Guilty as Sin. I Can Do It With a Broken Heart makes me want to cry when I hear it 😢

Le Guin and Wolfe in the same bookstore trip; you must really be in the mood for more literary writers. The Dispossessed has been on my TBR for so long that it's shameful. I really need to find time for it. I'm up to book 4 in The Book of the New Sun series. I really enjoy the writing, but I'll warn you that Wolfe's vocabulary is vast, and it is not uncommon for me to pull up the dictionary on my phone to look things up. Also, expect to be confused.⭐
Hello, Dan from Paul’s work again. Kings Dark Tidings Series by Kel Kade. Book one is Free the Darkness. The series is in my top 3 for me all time and book 2 is prolly my favorite fantasy book to date. Also, in the vein of helping aliens…have you done the Enders Series by Orson Scott Card?
So sad that To Bleed A Crystal Bloom was so off course from When The Moon Hatched. Crazy that someone that wrote a favorite can also write a dud. I just read another book by the author of The Oracle Year - Paul, if you liked that one, try Anyone by the same author. It was a good one. I feel that on the being sick and being so guilty about not going to work. I get that in teaching too! I love Shallan. I really am itching to reread the series but I think I'd want to take detailed notes for myself so I DON'T need to reread again. I know this ends the first ARC, but i also feel like a lot of the details/histories we get are still going to be prevalent as we continue into the next one.
