Get well soon LAV, you're a legend pistol smith when it comes to 1911
Excellent video even though I don't agree 100% with Larry on every point. I was taught what Larry calls the "Browning takedown" 30 years ago by one of the best 1911 Pistolsmiths in the country; the now deceased Ed Banks. Ed used it because it saved time as he assembled and disassembled each 1911 many times. Do be careful when using that method. I once let the recoil spring get away during disassembly and somewhere in my den is a spring guide that I've never been able to find. Lesson learned.
Rolex deep-sea!! Beautiful watch!
Drop in the bucket on what this guy knows.
I always say I'm not a collector, but that Mar Det One Kimber is tempting me to start.
If Larry was a Jedi, this video would be about building your own lightsaber. Yes, you have to be gun guy, a machinist, and a sci-fi nerd to understand my comment, but it takes all types.
I have a 10mm 1911. It's my favorite handgun - full stop (helps that it was a gift from my wife). It did require some extensive gunsmith re-fitting to get it fully reliable - and, just like you say, it started with the extractor. I've done Glocks, Berettas (M9 on an Army range!), XDs and XDMs, CZs and Sigs. All of them are good guns. But picking up the 1911 is like going home.
I have to say, most of what I've learned about lubing and maintaining it has come from you, Larry. Thanks!
I do love the Dan Wessons in the teens range. Besides Willson Combat, Alchemy Custom and Fusion are other great options for the same price.
Dan Wesson LASD 9mm is a sweet gun to shoot ......
Dan Wesson VBOB 🤙🏼
A properly made 9mm 1911 is an absolute joy to shoot.
Awesome Thank You.
This is great! A wealth of knowledge that we are not seeing being replicated with today’s “modern” minds and voices.
I have one of the new Springfield Operators. This is a great starter 1911 in that $1,000 price point you mentioned. Also I switched the sights with a set of Novaks.
They have the best customer service!
Nice job, I really enjoyed the presentation
Get well soon 🙏✌
Subbed to one of the best
Wilson TSG compact is awesome 🤩
In the future can you discuss springs and shock buffs?
18lb recoil, 23 lb stock hammer, hates shock buffs. Can tell you that off top, they all do.
For me, the best possible 1911 is from Turnbull manufacturing in New York State. There simply isn’t anyone better
Great classic shooters. Not the #1 carry choice today due increased maintenance and low capacity. Great for certain situations where legal capacity is low, or you need a super accurate bullseye gun.
Y'all make me feel left out, I'm a rock island owner, that's like a curse word in some 1911 circles
Larry, what's your take on the PARAUSA and the
Para Ordinance ????
How about a 2011 Staccato C2?
what's the pinnacle of 1911? infinity?
Lookin slim, Larry! What's your secret!?
Since he didn’t answer...it’s not actually a secret. Fasting is good, gluttony is bad.
Anyone have an opinion on the Bul Armory 1911’s?
On par with your Dan wessons is my take...love my specialist
I'd take a Dan, but I hear lots of good things.
SDS 1911A1
It's cheap.......
That is too much to worry about in regards to a pistol. They look beautiful though.
When people worship Satin, or practice witch craft we end up with blasphemy like 9mm 1911s. God only knows how lucky we are that the fabric of the universe didn’t tear and create a super massive Black hole that destroyed the entire space time continuum.
Or something like that….. I think
