- The water in Shasta Lake was extremely low this year for our annual houseboating trip but one perk of the drought was that we were able to explore the now exposed Shasta Railroad #5 Train Tunnel and trestle, built in 1884.

Can you launch a boat at jones valley marina?
Yes, I think they have 2 launch areas with the current marina set up. When the water level is higher there is a designated launch.
