We`re at a point in our culture that top 10s are not enough. Therefore, I suggested you do at least 10 more suggestions in another video. Comic-Books are so rich in great titles that I`m sure there are some more you could add.
I strongly suggest you check out the work of the Italian Sergio Toppi, for example "Sharaz-De: Tales from the Arabian Nights". He is a master artist who deserves more credit for his amazing inking skills. I cannot find any mention in your channel.
1. God Loves, Man Kills 2. Swamp Thing 3. Watchmen 4. Kingdom Come 5. The Killing Joke 6. Daredevil Born Again 7. Sandman 8. Kraven’s Last Hunt 9. All-Star Superman 10. The Flash: Rebirth
I preordered the 25th anniv. of Marvels HC so I look fwd to reading it. My Top Ten is as follows: 10. All of Fables HCs 9. Saga of the Swamp Thing HCs 8. DC Universe of Alan Moore HC w/ Killing Joke HC 7. Claremont X-Men I have read 100 issues & it is solid and reading it in Masterworks. 6. Spider-Man Blue/Captain America White Loeb/Sale Love going on here. 5. Absolute Long Halloween ditto 4. Criminal & Fatale HCs 3. Byrne's upcoming Sensational She-Hulk Omnibus that has the 2 tpbs & OGN from the 80s 2. JMS' Superman Earth One trilogy 1. Byrne Superman all 9 tpbs or the 4 bound volumes that I have plus the World of Krypton/Smallville/Metropolis that has not yet been collected.
Discovered your excellent channel a couple of days ago and I'm currently reading The Eternaut (so grateful for your suggestion!!) - the way it's written evokes The War Of The Worlds but with Juan Salvo's narration instead of Richard Burton. Another series I would suggest is "The Motherless Oven" by Rob Davis. Its a trilogy but so far I've only read the first two books. Do you know about this series?
Favorites from my collection; Bone - Jeff Smith Pure cartoon epic. Goes from simple Disney to Lord of the rings level conflict by the end. Empowered - Adam Warren While volume 1 is pure fan-service and cheesecake, volume 2 and on crafts the best super hero story I've read, equal parts dark drama, character driven pulp and hilarious sexy comedy. Siegfried - Alex Alice The disney animated trailer sold me, and the 3 volumes pulled off what it promised. Retells the myth with a classic Disney animation feel. Kill Six Billion Demons - Tom Parkinson-Morgan Started as a web comic, got printed and is one of the coolest and most creative books I know. Equal parts mythology, kung fu epic and anime. Scott pilgrim - Brian Lee o'malley Late 90's video game indie music hipster culture incarnate. Spawned a great movie. Hellboy - Mike Mingola It's Hellboy. High contrast art, an appreciation for myth and pulpy concepts while never losing a dark tone the movies just can't seem to pull off. Locke and key - Joe hill Stephen king's son sets off to do an urban fantasy/horror better than his father and succeeds. You'll actually like the characters and hope they live despite their flaws, it has one of the most diabolical villains and a real interesting premise. DO NOT watch the Netflix adaptation. It ruins the plot. A bit of manga: Full-metal alchemist Everything good about shonen manga at once. Dark cool goofy and a really cool magic system based in science. King of Thorn An underrated action/survival horror comic that feels like someone made after playing resident evil, dino crisis and silent hill, yet it still does it's own thing. Great art and a roller coaster of a story. Don't watch the movie. BLAME! cyberpunk taken to it's logical conclusion. More art than story, six volumes hold some of the most imaginative architecture and striking visuals along with a scale that is terrifying to grasp.
My favourites are: Geoff Johns Green lantern Preacher Watchmen Saga of Swamp thing- Moore Ultimate Spider-Man (the original) Usagi yojimbo Invincible From Hell
My top favorite Books no particular order: - Watchmen - Bone - Trigun (my first manga) - Moon Knight by Jeff Lemire - Calvin and Hobbes - Supreme: The Story of the Year - Blankets - JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - One Piece - Flight (an anthology collection)
I know you where going talk about X-Men god loves man kills I do agree with you that it is definitely The Benchmark for what an X-Men story When I first read that story the first several pages had me Blown Away my God. Especially with the part with Kitty had said which I'm not going to repeat. Why I was crying after what she said because I completely agreed with what she was talkin about even though she had to use those words. That completely just broke me right there I was like she's right she's right Going further into the story I'm like this is so damn good it is dark but it has so much heart of trying to get it at what the X men are at their core. That was next level oh my god bless Claremont and the rest of the behind this story
My list would be Bone, life and times of Scrooge Mcduck, XMen God Loves Man Kills, Kingdom Come, Dark Knight Returns, Golden Age, Hulk: Future Imperfect, Age of Apocalypse, Infinity Gauntlet, and Annihilation
Complete Farside Slipcase, I see you're also a man of culture. Maus most definitely is required reading, phenomenal piece of literature. Hopefully the Starman Omni will get re-solicited; maybe when AT&T shuts down DC publishing the licenses can make their way over to David and can hook us up with some DC omniboo. Hela excited to get my hands on the X-Men reprints; I was late to the game and missed them the first time around. I would add All-Star Superman to the list, it means as much to me as Starman means to you. Thanks Omar
Given your comments here about the Sandman series being so well suited to the comic medium (which I largely agree with) - how do you feel about the Sandman audio play?
Near Mint Condition I have to admit I was skeptical, but the production team come across as real fans of the source material, and it sounds like Neil G was heavily involved so I’m more optimistic than I would otherwise be. (My optimism is tempered by how underwhelming I found American Gods in translation to screen.)
Hope you can do a standalone video for The Eternaut one day. What a masterpiece. It's supposed to be released on Netflix next year from some articles I read.
• Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind • Monster • Pluto • Watchmen • The Dark Knight Returns • DC: The New Frontier • Kingdom Come • Maus • Jimmy Corrigan Read tons of DC, but very little Marvel -- I really gotta get to work on that haha
My list would be: 1. Sandman 2. The Invisibles 3. Invincible 4. Locke & Key 5. Preacher 6. Watchmen 7. Flex Mentallo 8. Y The Last Man 9. Swamp Thing 10. All DC Crisis Events
Blackest Night- Working hard hot days wasn't really into comics much at the time coworker was reading Blackest Nigh and Blackest Night Green Lantern just found the story to be crazy good just hooked me in. Invincible- Around the same time I was getting into Blackest Night friend had this book and just simply enjoyed it loved how it felt like Superman crossed with Goku in away. Sin City- Honestly saw the movie first I really liked it and some years later Big Damn Sin City came out bought it right away just started reading it loved every second of it. Infinity Gauntlet/Thanos Quest- I've always been a big fan of villains seeing this different light on Thanos what he would do for Lady Death along with how he just simply outsmarts gem holders just made him so even stronger character in my eyes. Berserk- My all time favorite manga of all times I watched the anime first by in 2000 was so hooked started buy the manga. Everything about this brought me in from the Middle Age theme along with demons, spirits. Saga- Bought it not sure I would hate it like it or love it but ended up loving the story. Hellboy- I'm big on demons so me just falling in love with story, and art of this was very easy. Deathstroke the Terminator- By Marv Wolfman. Just always loved him back in the Teen Titans T.V show back when I was kid so when TPB started coming out I started reading what I could get my hands on. Dragon Ball/Z- How could this not be on my list? One of the first anime's I watched along with being the first manga I finished reading. Kingdom- The manga about a slave boy who desires become a Great General of the Heavens during China's warring states period. Growth of the main character everything he has to face against to reach this goal is amazing to see him over come. Hasn't finished but still going strong and sadly we having brought it to the US yet but did bring the anime which isn't nearly as good as the manga. Very hard to put together because of how much I read.
@@NearMintCondition I would had gone with New Teen Titans but I don't know just really enjoyed Deathstroke seeing villains get their own stories with and away from super heroes seeing how they interact with the world is always enjoyable to me.

Ai Yazawa - Nana Hirohiko Araki - JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Naoki Urasawa - Monster and 20th Century boys Paru Itagaki - Beastars Kouta Hirano - Drifters and Hellsing Junji Ito - Story Collections Katsuhiro Otomo - Akira Kentaro Miura - Berserk

@@NearMintCondition Yup! That's the one. I found it to be the best out of all his one-off manga, and the fact that it's a prequel to Dragon Ball is really cool too.
One of my favourite graphic novels from when I was a kid was Excalibur:Sword is Drawn. It says special edition but to me a s a kid it was a graphic novel because of the printing and the solid spine (that and The Long bow hunters from Mike Grell tho that was a 3 issue prestige) This Excalibur graphic novel exposed me to certain X-men in a different environment and it was the start of Excalibur who would get their own monthly not long after and as a kid to even now I’m a sucker for Alan Davis artwork especially when it comes to the X-men!
Thats not why Watchmen didn't use charlton characters, the actual reason was that DC had just acquired the characters and didn't want Alan Moore to make them characters that would be seen as unheroic at times
Great list! Mine would be something like this: Sandman the Dark Knight Returns Watchmen Kingdom Come Marvels Akira Calvin and Hobbes Hellboy Thor Walt Simonson Silver Surfer Requiem
So Guardians of the Galaxy by Bendis didn’t make the list? 😋 For me: Dark Knight Returns Kingdom Come Ronin Watchmen Infinity Gauntlet Long Halloween/Dark Victory Mind Mgmt Locke & Key Superman Red Son Hush

I strongly suggest you check out the work of the Italian Sergio Toppi, for example "Sharaz-De: Tales from the Arabian Nights". He is a master artist who deserves more credit for his amazing inking skills. I cannot find any mention in your channel.
Good list! It was cool to hear some different picks that from other people's lists
Thank you so much.
1. God Loves, Man Kills
2. Swamp Thing
3. Watchmen
4. Kingdom Come
5. The Killing Joke
6. Daredevil Born Again
7. Sandman
8. Kraven’s Last Hunt
9. All-Star Superman
10. The Flash: Rebirth
Hell of a list!
Great list! I'm so excited about Byrne's She Hulk.
First of all, thank you so much and welcome to the channel. I haven't read Motherless Oven. But I'm going to look it up.
The Far Side - an unexpected, but excellent choice!
Thank you, brother.
My personal favorite this year was definitely "Did You Hear What Eddie Gein Done? " , such an amazing well written story about the life of eddie gein
Favorites from my collection;
Bone - Jeff Smith
Pure cartoon epic. Goes from simple Disney to Lord of the rings level conflict by the end.
Empowered - Adam Warren
While volume 1 is pure fan-service and cheesecake, volume 2 and on crafts the best super hero story I've read, equal parts dark drama, character driven pulp and hilarious sexy comedy.
Siegfried - Alex Alice
The disney animated trailer sold me, and the 3 volumes pulled off what it promised. Retells the myth with a classic Disney animation feel.
Kill Six Billion Demons - Tom Parkinson-Morgan
Started as a web comic, got printed and is one of the coolest and most creative books I know. Equal parts mythology, kung fu epic and anime.
Scott pilgrim - Brian Lee o'malley
Late 90's video game indie music hipster culture incarnate. Spawned a great movie.
Hellboy - Mike Mingola
It's Hellboy. High contrast art, an appreciation for myth and pulpy concepts while never losing a dark tone the movies just can't seem to pull off.
Locke and key - Joe hill
Stephen king's son sets off to do an urban fantasy/horror better than his father and succeeds. You'll actually like the characters and hope they live despite their flaws, it has one of the most diabolical villains and a real interesting premise. DO NOT watch the Netflix adaptation. It ruins the plot.
A bit of manga:
Full-metal alchemist
Everything good about shonen manga at once. Dark cool goofy and a really cool magic system based in science.
King of Thorn
An underrated action/survival horror comic that feels like someone made after playing resident evil, dino crisis and silent hill, yet it still does it's own thing. Great art and a roller coaster of a story. Don't watch the movie.
BLAME!
cyberpunk taken to it's logical conclusion. More art than story, six volumes hold some of the most imaginative architecture and striking visuals along with a scale that is terrifying to grasp.
REally nice addition of Empowered.
Love you Omar!
James Samaras much love back to you!
I would love to see more top 10 lists from you 👍🏻
And I will make them, since you asked. :)
Awesome video. Subscribed!
Thank you so much and welcome aboard.
My favourites are:
Geoff Johns Green lantern
Preacher
Watchmen
Saga of Swamp thing- Moore
Ultimate Spider-Man (the original)
Usagi yojimbo
Invincible
From Hell
Great list.
@Walid Infernüs Nope, not planning on reading it,Watchmen is a complete story, there was no need for a sequel that too without consent of Alan Moore
Top 10 DC Omnibus ‘Come on In’ !!
Would add TDKR
That is on my to do list.
Hey guys does cheap graphic novels deliver to Australia.
Great show
They do, but not sure how much shipping would be.
Near Mint Condition thank you
My top favorite Books no particular order:
- Watchmen
- Bone
- Trigun (my first manga)
- Moon Knight by Jeff Lemire
- Calvin and Hobbes
- Supreme: The Story of the Year
- Blankets
- JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
- One Piece
- Flight (an anthology collection)
YES!!! you are the first to mention Flight. I love that anthology series.
I know you where going talk about X-Men god loves man kills
I do agree with you that it is definitely The Benchmark for what an X-Men story
When I first read that story the first several pages had me Blown Away my God.
Especially with the part with Kitty had said which I'm not going to repeat. Why I was crying after what she said because I completely agreed with what she was talkin about even though she had to use those words. That completely just broke me right there I was like she's right she's right
Going further into the story I'm like this is so damn good it is dark but it has so much heart of trying to get it at what the X men are at their core.
That was next level oh my god bless Claremont and the rest of the behind this story
It is the perfect story and representation of what X-men are. I love it so much and that scene that you spoke of hits me right in the feels.
Great great list.
Thanks Omar
All Star would have been in my top 20. That's it I'm doing another list. :)
@@NearMintCondition excellent...you must also find the jade monkey before the next full moon...
GOOD LIST LOVE STARMAN!!
You are a man of good taste.
Given your comments here about the Sandman series being so well suited to the comic medium (which I largely agree with) - how do you feel about the Sandman audio play?
I haven't heard it yet, but I can't wait.
I would love to.
• Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
• Monster
• Pluto
• Watchmen
• The Dark Knight Returns
• DC: The New Frontier
• Kingdom Come
• Maus
• Jimmy Corrigan
Read tons of DC, but very little Marvel -- I really gotta get to work on that haha
You had me at Nausicca. Great list.
love this guys passion
Thank you! I appreciate it.
Being an argentinan, so glad to see el Eternauta among your selections.

4. Locke & Key
5. Preacher
6. Watchmen
7. Flex Mentallo
8. Y The Last Man
9. Swamp Thing
10. All DC Crisis Events
Great list!
Hey Man I lived in Argentina and firts thing I did was getting El Eternauta. Check out Salvador Sanz for a creepy young argentine writer/illustrator.
Shit, when was it announced that the Starman omni is cancelled? Amazon and BD etc still have it listed for an April release!
A few months ago. Broke my heart. I hope they change their minds.
I like the Uncle Scrooge/ duck tales my self. Four comics #386 & 456 are in my comic collection.
Great books in your collection. Ducktales for life. :)
Whoa! That's a first time I've seen Deathstroke on the list. I love that Wolfman run, but I think I would have to go with Teen Titans first.
@@NearMintCondition I would had gone with New Teen Titans but I don't know just really enjoyed Deathstroke seeing villains get their own stories with and away from super heroes seeing how they interact with the world is always enjoyable to me.
Posting comment before watching just so I can prepare to be OUTRAGED.
@Tom The Fish Only cuz he hasn't read Dynamite Thor yet. Back it today, only 4 days left! bit.ly/dynamitethor
Here's my list:
Inio Asano - A Girl On The Shore and Oyasumi Pun Pun

-Superman/Batman (Jeph Loeb)
-Death Note
-Attack on Titan
-Before Watchmen
-My Hero Academia: Vigilantes
-Jaco the Galactic Patrolman
-Gotham Academy
Jaco the Toriyama book?
@@NearMintCondition Yup! That's the one. I found it to be the best out of all his one-off manga, and the fact that it's a prequel to Dragon Ball is really cool too.
Always wanted to read maus
One of my favourite graphic novels from when I was a kid was Excalibur:Sword is Drawn. It says special edition but to me a s a kid it was a graphic novel because of the printing and the solid spine (that and The Long bow hunters from Mike Grell tho that was a 3 issue prestige) This Excalibur graphic novel exposed me to certain X-men in a different environment and it was the start of Excalibur who would get their own monthly not long after and as a kid to even now I’m a sucker for Alan Davis artwork especially when it comes to the X-men!
I can't wait for both Sword is Drawn and Long Bow Hunters to be in their omnis.
Bro all amazing and valid picks!
Thank you so much.
Thats not why Watchmen didn't use charlton characters, the actual reason was that DC had just acquired the characters and didn't want Alan Moore to make them characters that would be seen as unheroic at times
New camera? Changed the lighting? Something is different. Good, but different.
Thnak you, sir.
Great list! Mine would be something like this:
Sandman
the Dark Knight Returns
Watchmen
Kingdom Come
Marvels
Akira
Calvin and Hobbes
Hellboy
Thor Walt Simonson
Silver Surfer Requiem
You, yourself have a great list.
I really like this list but what are your feelings about Bone or Calvin and Hobbes
Love both of them. But honestly I’d go with the Far Side a little more. :)
Best Channel 👏👏👏👏
YOU are the best.
So Guardians of the Galaxy by Bendis didn’t make the list? 😋
For me:
Dark Knight Returns
Kingdom Come
Ronin
Watchmen
Infinity Gauntlet
Long Halloween/Dark Victory
Mind Mgmt
Locke & Key
Superman Red Son
Hush
Paul Saini great list!
Great list! But needs Y: The Last Man, imo, haha.
That was my number 11. I'm making another list. :)
@@NearMintCondition nice! All-Star Superman, The Dark Knight/Year One combo, Runaways and Tom King's Vision run come to mind too.
I was missing some swamp thing, dark Knight returns and V for Vendetta from this list. Also some new teen Titans.
I did my top 10 vertigo titles. But for some reason V for Vendetta just didn’t stick with me as much as his other works.
@@NearMintCondition I am currently reading hellboy so we will see if it deserves to be on my top ten. So far so good.
Starman is awesome.
Get a sub to DCU and you can read it start to finish
It's one of the best for sure.
STARMAN ftw! Yes mate!
silentkid thank you! And yes!
I thought for sure "Bone" was going to make the list!
This was such a hard list to make. :) So I will make another one.
12:52 does anyone know if the other Don Rosa Uncle scrooge slipcase box sets will be reprinted again? box sets 1&2 and 3&4 are on amazon but the others are very rare
They've reprinted the first two box sets and they'll reprint the rest. For sure.
@@NearMintCondition brilliant news was about to pay big money for them on ebay, but think ill wait till they get reprinted, thanks a ton!
Jeff Loeb or Grant Morrison batman? I just want the most entertaining and enjoyable one. I dont really need deep characters and themes.
Loeb.
@@NearMintCondition I haven't read any batman comics. I did some research and I think of starting with batman year one then long Halloween then dark victory. It will make batman's year 1,2,3. Is it a good start?
You got it. That’s what you’ll be reading.
@@NearMintCondition Can you rank your top 10 batman comics?
You always leave out craig thompson’s habibi…that book is one of the greatest graphic novels i ever read
I prefer Blankets but it’ll be in my Hidden Gems.
@@NearMintCondition another great one and it is the one that got me into his work. Also do you like any Frank Miller comics? Would you recommend Ronin?
What do you think of James O'Barr's The Crow?
Big fan!
