  • Don Carlo Gambino: The Fox & The Lion | Full Documentary
Carlo Gambino was here to hold court with people from the community with grievances or questions, as was common practice for a Don such as himself. Similar to a feudal scene from mediaeval Sicily. The don was Sipping on his customary black coffee with his subjects brought before him. He was humble and attentive to their needs. But, he was also here on this morning as it had become known that the filming of a scene for a new film called “The Godfather”. Carlo Gambino was not your average “mob boss”, this kindly looking old man was one of the most ruthless Godfather’s in mob history. Gambino embodied the essence of what Niccolò Machiavelli, the philosopher of power, described as the “ideal leader”. He possessed the cunning of a fox, navigating the treacherous world of organized crime with an unmatched ability to identify and avoid danger. Yet, when necessary, he could unleash the force of a lion, striking fear into the hearts of his enemies. A man who was loved by many, but feared by many more. And now, we will peel back the layers of myth and mystique surrounding Carlo Gambino, revealing the secrets of the man behind the power - a cunning strategist, a ruthless operator, and a paradox: a seemingly mild-mannered leader who presided over a brutal empire, one of the longest reigns in mob history. Don't let his kind face or small stature fool you. This man did not come up the easy way, and was willing to whatever it takes to reach the top. Betraying those he swore loyalty to and crushed those who he saw as a threat. THIS is the story of who many consider, as the real Vito Corleone, the godfather of the mafia.

I would really appreciate it, if you make the next video about il Grande Capo dei Capi, Don Giuseppe "Joe the Boss" Masseria. Let me give some deep-detailed information about the "King of Prohibition".
Joe the Boss and the Curb Exchange, the Sidewalk, and the New York Stock Exchange
Now, I'm going to analyse you, how Joe the Boss achieved to get so rich, already since the beginning of Prohibition, before he officially became the Godfather of the Morello/Masseria Family. He was controlling the infamous "Curb Exchange", an open street market in where the bootleggers were trading their stuff, a key place to the whole New York liquor industry. Masseria, saw the importance of this market and immediately took over it, in order to secure his position as a top bootlegger and to have control over a lot of other bootleggers, who were forced to pay huge tribute to the Boss, if they wanted to operate. By his control of the "Curb Exchange" and by establishing a liquor import network from Canada to the East Side, with his caporegime Frankie Yale as the man in charge, Joe the Boss soon became, a very big player within the New York Underworld. By the mid 20s, especially after the elimination of the Brooklyn Waterfronts Irish mob, aka "the White Hand", Masseria was the most Powerful gangster in the country, "the Biggest of them all".
But let me give some more details about the "Curb Exchange", so you completely understand, for what kind of control we're talking about, not on only among gangsters, but for the whole New York Market. What exactly was the "Curb Exchange"??? Outdoor exchanges lacked spatial controls which regulated access to trading and were therefore seen as less legitimate than those exchanges, such as the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) or the Chicago Board of Trade, that had decades earlier gone inside. By taking cover on New York City’s streets, the New York Curb Market evaded regulation and served as unofficial market where New York Stock Exchange brokerages could participate in more speculative transactions. Outside, the Curb consciously rejected the institutional trappings that signified an organized securities market. Because, anyone could simply walk up to the market and trade with any other trader, the market could plausibly claim to not be an organized securities market, but simply a group of people who simply gathered to informally trade in anything, and therefore, not an organisation that could be regulated. As the New York Times put it: "Any man with a good pair of lungs is free to trade there so long as he keeps good his contracts". And who was the one keeping control & order, and protecting this lucrative "Free Market"??? The Capo di tutti Capi, the "King of fish, wine and booze", the Great, Don Giuseppe "Joe the Boss" Masseria!!!

    BONUS 📖
In 1972, the Gambino crime family, one of the most powerful Mafia organizations in New York City, was rocked by the kidnapping and murder of Carlo Gambino's nephew, Emmanuel "Manny" Gambino. This brazen act was carried out by an Irish American mob crew led by James "Jimmy from Queens" McBratney. McBratney's crew had been operating for over a year, targeting Italian mobsters and demanding hefty ransoms for their release. However, their luck ran out when they snatched the wrong person - a close relative of the Gambino family boss.
Infuriated by the attack, Carlo Gambino demanded swift retribution. This presented an opportunity for a young John Gotti, a rising star in the Gambino family and a protégé of underboss Neil Dellacroce. Gotti, along with his loyal friend Angelo "Fat Angie" Ruggiero and another associate Ralph "Ralphie Wigs" Galione, took it upon themselves to eliminate McBratney.
In May 1973, they lured McBratney to a Staten Island tavern. What followed was a brutal execution. Despite their ruthlessness, their plan wasn't foolproof. Witnesses at the scene eventually identified Gotti and Ruggiero, leading to their arrests and convictions for the murder. Galione also faced legal consequences. While the act solidified Gotti's reputation as a fearless and ruthless gangster, it also landed him in prison, a consequence that would shape his future trajectory within the Gambino family.

It was said by someone who had been in that, that the people in that who are boisterous do not last.
I remember a female sergeant in the army. She was in the mess hall. She was always very quiet and said as little as possible. Once she came on post and brought a German male friend on post. Some guy intimidated the guy guy she was with. She warned the guy to knock it off and it got serious. The guy she was with couldn't do anything but she could. She took the guy out with a round house. Nobody knew anything about her being able to do that before that happened. It turned out when she was in Korea she took martial art lessons from the masters there. I finally asked why she was very quiet all the time. She said because not everybody is her friend. She said when she talks she's revealing information about yourself that could be used against her in some way. With the soldiers under her, they try to get friendly with her so they can get some sort of advantage and if she gets friendly with just one of them, that would ruin cohesion. She said it's best to keep everything on a professional level. She made E6 just before going to another unit. Heard she made E7. I looked her up on FB but there's nothing.

One thing I noticed is these guys from the old Country aren’t built the same. They are all work and no play! Where they come from everybody is built tough, have to fight for everything and don’t have anything? So the only thing they have is Pride… so imagine how soft and privileged they see the ppl here in America? It’s really the “Land of opportunity” for them… 😂

'THE SKIM' from universal efforts to secure food, clothing, shelter, entertainment, etc. will always devolve to muscular managers. Facism was (is?) just one more iteration of that human-dynamic.

Hello, I’ve watched a few of your videos and I like them. I was wondering if you might by chance know about the arrests of Ndrangheta members that have taken place in the last few years. I was particularly interested in a certain member who was arrested in 2014 in France. Not sure what his exact charges were. Bussiness insider had 2 articles online about him being arrested. In one article they said he was a Boss but did not mention that in the other article. The 2nd article said he was about to go into a conference room to find out if they were keeping him or sending him to Italy. But then it said that the trial was put off for another month or two. I have tried to find more about him and where he got sent and what his charges were and if he is in fact a Boss for Ndrangheta or not. His name is Vito La Terza. If anyone happens to know about him or how I can find out what his outcome was, I wud appreciate the info please, and thank you.

not all mob bosses died peacefully of age lol , they either be in prison or 6ft below the ground
Don Carlo lived the life, made the Gambino the most powerful crime family , although they have the "commission" he is feared by the other families and deserved the title "boss of all bosses" though he sit in the commission of equal ranks.

He increased the power of the Chicago Outfit, drastically without getting into Turf or gang wars. I would argue that due to his involvement, the Chicago Outfit could possibly, just as powerful or if not more powerful than the Genovese Family of New York, these days.
