    Carly Gregg got the gun, shot her mother 3 times and texted a friend to come see the body,
    Texted her step-father as her mother and waited until he got home and shot him.
    This is NOT mental illness, this is premeditation. Pure premeditation.

If she has no one to defend her it would be difficult to punish. Even to punish a criminal lawyer has to be there to represent them. Here it is not about emotions, it is about law and profession.

      I would not call her evil. Evil is raping a child, and they get less time than her. She had her reasons, no matter how impulsive or unfounded or disgusting. Her mother was not innocent either; she was unbearable and her father was psychotic and angry. She found solace in drugs and when she threatened to take it away she gor upset and angry and shot her. I dont know why she showed her friend or wanted to kill her stepfather - I'm sure she was fucked up anyway, and mentally ill - but evil? Evil is doing only the worst and most illogical of acts, and being angry and killing your mother is not the worst you can do.

    • @teleahboo
      @teleahboo 5 months ago +10

      @Lam..me123 i mean, it depends on what you think. if some crazy kid killed someone i loved or even liked, it depends on if they're genuinly sorry and need help, or if they are just entitled and think they can get away with anything. But i think we should pay attention to mental health, regardless of what someone does, people do need help. I think theyre worth it. But some people, yeah are just ruined. I dont really know what can make a person do a bad thing like that. I dont know how you wouldnt be mentally ill to be honest. but yeah.

      not even is it just not compassionate, it's the exact opposite of compassion. a compassionate person cannot actively murder an innocent, harmless grandma, it's contradictory. i would understand the mom's argument as far as before that, or if she said that he used to be compassionate, but he clearly has zero compassion or is detached from reality in which case compassion isn't even on the table, it's in the clouds with his head. AND the kid's letter was........ like if you forced an elementary boy to apologize for pulling a girl's pigtails.

      The worst part is, she was so excited to get to 100 and she might have actually made it if not for that disgusting piece of filth. Imagine it: her planning the celebration so eagerly, laying out a list of who she wanted there, picking the treats with such care, nearly vibrating with joy at the thought of seeing 💯 on her cake. "Only two more years to go!" She'd whisper that to herself happily. Just two more years. Imagine being stuck two years away from that for all eternity. I really hope that Heaven is so wonderful that she doesn't even give it a second thought, because my heart is breaking over two damn years.

I really hope he lives to be 100 in prison, so that he will know exactly how it feels to have NOONE care about you like he didn't care about the elderly woman when he killed her, just 2 years shy of her turning 100. • @SgtGuarnereDD
      @SgtGuarnereDD 4 months ago +11

      Honestly, I'm inclined to disagree with you. Most mothers will love their children unconditionally and will always remain to see the good in them despite their actions. The kid expressed his regrets and spoke of his intentions to live a better life in the future. He was 17 at the time. Of course he made the biggest possible mistake he could ever had made and obviously, this evil side of him shows that he requires serious treatment, but there's no value in jailing a 17-year old for life without parole.
      I live in The Netherlands, we have a system called "TBS" or "Terbeschikkingstelling" in which a convicted felon will serve a jail sentence of at least 4 years after which they will follow treatment at a special TBS Clinic. This treatment is aimed at bringing the felon back into society in a safe manner to the public. If the doctors/psychologists at the clinic do not consider it safe enough to let them return, they can extend the treatment indefinitely year by year. This way, there will always be something on the horizon for these people as long as they're willing to put in the time and effort to get better. And if they're not, they'll still be locked away forever. This system, in my humble opinion, would have been perfect for this kid and it's a crying shame that so few countries use this.

      @SgtGuarnereDDI agree this would be the right course of action with Gavon. If you write off a seventeen year old kid for LIFE, you be are not a good society. Period. I watched an hour long video about Gavin and his crime. The events and what he did are absolutely horrendous. Yes. He is clearly very disturbed but we cannot tell whether he can be rehabilitated from the video. We simply do not have enough information. He needs to be held in a secure facility, absolutely. He needs serious extended professional help for years. He engaged in gay sex or touching. I believe he may have had internalized extreme self hatred as a bisexual or gay young men or at least as someone whom experimented with gay sex. We don’t know what Ga b in mah have been through as far as trauma, or what mental illness he may have. You don’t write off a child. Gavin was a child. He is the product of an inborn temperament as well as his environment.

      You're a smart human being, and it was a very wise decision to do that. Alcohol is an awful drug and should be banned again in my opinion as well as all other dangerous and recreational drugs. It only worsens your health, shortens your life span, and leads people to making absolutely horrible life-altering decisions.

    • @sarahwatson1043
      @sarahwatson1043 5 months ago

      If you aren't aware other drugs are banned but that has only started the illegal drug trade. When alcohol was banned during prohibition it only spurred the illegal trade of alcohol. If someone wants something that bad they will find a way to get it. Personally I think decriminalized drugs that are somewhat regulated works much better. Why go to a dealer and risk going to jail for buying\having those drugs when you can easily go down to the pharmacy and pick it up, and for cheaper prices than the dealer. It makes sense when you look at it logically and on paper. Remove the "that's bad don't do that and expecting them to follow that on the honor system" and come at the problem logically and it's completely solvable.

      @AljazO-r3h 2 months ago +1

      @4thof12 @riddlesofmind8142 you smoothbrain genetic burdens. It's literally their job to try and give potential criminals the best defense possible, so the criminals can't sue for misconduct and get the case thrown out on a technicality of poor legal defense impacting their constitutional rights, or some trash like that. It's not about the lawyers wanting to justify the actions, it's about expending all legal routes.
      These lawyers don't want to be there nor help these trash individuals, but they still do the best they can. It's called professional conduct.

    • @luzukom213
      @luzukom213 2 months ago +6

      I don't think these cases are saying the defendant is "innocent". They're saying the defendant didn't have the mental capacity to understand what they were doing was wrong at the time because of a mental illness. That doesn't let them walk free - if they're found Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity, they're almost always committed to a psychiatric facility, often for longer than a prison term would have lasted. It's also a very rare, and very hard to prove.

    • @ShmorkieStudios
      @ShmorkieStudios 2 months ago +9

      The whole point of the lawyer’s job is to prove their client innocent, regardless of how obviously they are not. They are there to be fair for everyone, but y’know it won’t do much good in cases like these.

    • @mensa53
      @mensa53 2 months ago +3

      Just because a defendant's lawyer tries using the defense of mental incapacity doesn't mean they can prove it. It's a typical defense ploy and sometimes the ONLY defense argument available in some cases. That doesn't mean it will work and get the defendant off the hook.

      My husband was a prison correctional officer for more than 15 years. He's gonna last about 3 minutes because what he doesn't realize is the inmates who want to have 22 hours a day to lift weights, or in other forms work out. They have all that time to think about ways to make your life miserable because children who think they are "hardcore" are about as cool as pedos. Think about that you little scum of the earth.... 22 hours a day.

    • @FNJ72
      @FNJ72 7 months ago +43

      Honestly, Depa got off pretty harshly for what he did. The judge says he "doesn't have an intellectual disability" when he's literally been stated to have autism? And by his mannerisms and descriptions, it sounds like it's a lower-functioning one too.
      Same goes for the mention of failing to show remorse, that's literally impossible for some autistic people. He needs to be controlled, yes, but not in prison.

    • @pwainfulz

      @finnjay6149 totally agree. Do the police officers get 5 years in prison for beating innocent people needlessly?🤔🤔🤔 even killing some.
      Depa was so obviously autistic to have an aid assigned. That aid doesn't not come easy. Because it costs money, they are not assigned unless it's severe disability. And she was so wrong to take an object of attachment away like that. She was bad at her job clearly. 😅
      And 5 years in prison for beating someone, let's find how many autistic white kids got such sentences? This judge was soooooo obviously racist. 🙄

      @DaviD33221 Lucy doesn't have to have kids to know that parents shouldn't defend/make excuses for their child who did something horribly evil. They have a responsibility as a parent to not enable the murderer+, and teach the murderer+ the hard way that actions do have consequences. Parents should also put themselves in the victim's family's shoes, and realize they'd want justice if the same thing happened to their child.
      Yes, parents will have a hard time at first accepting what their murdering+ child has done. But at some point, they have to accept the facts over their emotions, and be against their murdering+ child because that's the right thing to do. Loving your child is NOT making excuses for their horrific acts.

      Parenthood is insanity in a way. When a woman gives birth, the brain is flooded with chemicals that will forever make her even give her life for that kid. Then, the same happens with the father's brain. It's what people commonly call "mother/father instinct". Means that no matter what, most parents will just stick to protecting that son or daughter blindly.
      That's 1, 2, add the trauma and shock of learning that person is a monster, 3 the news and fact that you just lost a son/daughter is unbearable for most parents. 4 personality plays a big part. Some can understand that the person in orange is aa criminal and their child at the same time, and act accordingly even if it is so hard. But others can't cope and just go into basic mode of "I want my son back". Not because they can't understand what a crime means in general, but because they can't protect what they are biologically programmed to protect. (Also, some are deficient and don't care about the crime, they feel the court is "attacking" the full family and act as part of it all instead of leaving the criminal out of the family).
      Humanity is very complex.

      @Drawwithpetra I could never stop loving my children, but I would not defend heinous actions. My children have always been allowed to suffer the natural logical consequences of their actions. Maybe that's why they're good, responsible, decent adults now.

    Inappropriate?? Wearing dirty clothes to a wedding is INAPPROPRIATE. What he did? A much harsher word is required.

    cyntoia brown was a victim, not a murderer. she didn't kill out of desire like the others did and had no homicidal intent to begin with.

      She was very good at faking remorse during her appeal. She doesn't give a rip.

    My heart breaks for Cyntoia Brown she was a victim. She was pimped out and sex trafficked.

      She's an amazing public speaker now who, along with her husband, started the 501 charity 'JFAM" for Justice, Freedom and Mercy, for cases such as hers. I recently red her book she published in 2019 'My Search for Redemption in the American Prison System'. Give it a read. It's excellent. What a survivor!

      I am really surprised to that I had to scroll way down to find a comment on her. Thank you for saying it out loud. Yes, she was a victim. I was really surprised to see her on this list and also the fact that she had to beg for pardon. The world is crazy.
