I kinda think Tammy has no sense of self outside being fat. Like if she had something to live for that made her believe she was worth something. She seems like she’s almost afraid to lose weight subconsciously because who will she be without the limitations she’s so familiar with? I think she’s scared in a backwards kinda way. Like, I think she’s got such a deep scarcity mindset that it controls her everything… like, I think she feels like all the effort her people go through to help her proves they love her and she’s afraid she will lose that love and power and support. Even the TV show about her is about her weight…

Tammy is so blessed to have a family that helps her. She wouldn't make it without them. On the other hand they do everything for her and she expects that all the time now.
They need to stop being enablers. If Tammy was presented with limited portions of healthy food she could slowly but surely lose weight. But if food is around that she can get at easily and stuff in her face she'll just as surely gain weight
@@dulcilass tammy is control of her own fork. she has a food addiction issue. yes other family members need to step up and tell her no when she has her fits. i wouldnt be breaking my back pushing her around when she can walk. she gained the weight all by herself, she needs to face consequences of her actions by not dealing with her issues.

Honestly, I am so proud of Chris! You can tell that he is truly working very hard at losing weight, before he gets to where Tammy was, where he can barely walk more than a few feet, and where even his basic needs need to be taken care of by others.
I mean you could clearly tell she's so happy for her brother losing a bit of weight I felt it right through the screen I swear if she became anymore excited my head would explode LOL!

I also suffer with addiction ( not food ) and I have a year and six months clean....any addiction is SO HARD to overcome you have to REALLY REALLY WANT IT ! I don't know if she dose....

I don't think it's just a food addiction growing up I was mentally physically and sexually abused and I believe Tammy's been abused she acts like it and I believe she is eating her emotions that's not good at all she can't let her past Define her life and I do believe that she is eating her emotions and she needs to seek help it's not an excuse to keep harming yourself just because your past was really bad I was also bullied because I'm disabled I understand her pain and I do believe she's been really hurt when she was little but she has to move on and not live in that pain I don't think it's just about food addiction at all..

I love Chris’s kind heart and love for his fam
I used to be really fat. I had 490lbs in January last year, and when I saw that number it was way more than I thought it is. I was really mad at myself. It really hit me hard, and I realised I got to do something. Not just sit and wait for problem to resolve itself. It was a life changing decision, because I have probably been on the verge of developing some serious health condition... So at first I got my diet plan created from Next Level Diet, which was super helpful to me. In the first two months of following my eating plan I lost 45lbs. And by June of last year another 40, for the total of 85lbs in five months... After that I started slowly exercising. First just by walking, and eventually I joined a gym and now I go five days a week, still walking on the weekends. I realised that I am stronger than I ever thought I have been. Never had any confidence, and now I can run, do burpees, do push-ups... I take these small victories!!

I don't think Tammy will ever lose weight because she's too addicted to her food, stubborn & whenever someone tries to suggest a way for her to lose weight she'll fight it any way she can to avoid it because she's scared that she'll fail at losing weight or just can't be bothered. Even if Amy does aggravate Tammy that doesn't excuse the fact that she does barely anything to lose weight ever since I started watching her journey. *If Tammy wants to lose weight she'll have to work hard & actually keep to the diet instead of backing out when it gets too tough for her, if she doesn't do that then she'll never change her ways.*

The only way she has lost weight was when she was an inpatient, I think she needs that again longer term until she can lose the weight to have surgery and then after the surgery too.

Trish - it has nothing to do with the other end of the scale. She is addicted to food - the show proves that. She’s had multiple chances and has done nothing and always seeks an excuse. Yes I know it’s hard because I also have a ED - binge eating due to stress and sleeping eating (yes it’s a thing). I’m doing my headrest to loose weight and yes it is difficult and easy to give up. But if she really wanted to loose weight she would do anything to make it possible.
@@jemmaj2919 That's true because Tammy has had chances upon chances to stick to the diet & exercise regime given to her by the doctor and she just sees it as an impossible hurdle for her & she just gives up right away or just expects everyone else to just bend over backward for so she can get what she wants without putting any effort in at all and even when she does put the effort in she immediately gives up whenever she loses so little weight each checkup but that's because Tammy isn't putting in enough effort to drop a significant amount of weight, she's clearly expecting the people around her to just give in to her demands or drop everything just to help her because she's too stubborn to do it on her own.

It's so nice to see how happy this Dr makes her now, so glad to see that he was helpful for both her and Chris and the newest clip I seen of him visiting her at her house was the sweetest thing to see how much he cheered her up!! I'm also sooo proud of Chris and how far he has come since this clip!!

I’m an emotional eater who has finally gained back controlled of her life and over food.
The person who destroyed me, it is 100% his fault that he hurt me. It is 1000% my fault for dealing with it the way I did. I put the food in my mouth. I drank what I drank. That is on me.
You have to take accountability otherwise you will feel as though you do not have any control over the situation and next you know…you’ve ballooned up another 20 lbs.

I went in a coma and lost 70 pounds hospitalized over 2.5 months. I don't see how she's walking or getting up or anything.

It's like people can't be happy or celebrate their own success around Tammy. The look on her face when Chris was saying how he hadn't been under 400lbs in 8 yrs was of pure disdain and jealousy. She can't even hide her displeasure anymore. She's horrible.

She parties hard, drinks to excess, has young men feeder, fat lovers, partying with her, vapes while still wearing oxygen...... the girl is enjoying her status as the fat queen among the BB crowd and hates that her family want better things for her or interfere in her choices.
Actually she got up to dance with her party feeders, walked to the car with them without complaint to get more food and alcohol but gave Amy a hard time next day because she didn't want to get out of the car to see Amy's new house, she was not well enough (said to camera she was hungover) while poor Amy was so disappointed and she and Michael went in by themselves.
She's selfish and couldn't care less about her health.
Tammy is absolutely a horrible hateful person. She wants all the attention as long as it's praise and she hates seeing anyone else do good or succeed in life. You can literally see the hate and jealousy in her when Chris was proud of himself. The only time anyone would ever see Tammy happy about someone else is if they failing or getting told off about not doing well. She's the only person to blame for her health, she doesn't want to work out or even eat healthy but is mad that she's not losing weight. Make that make sense Tammy. The least she should do is push herself in the wheelchair.
At this point everyone is just waiting for her to die. I'm soo happy that Amy is finally standing up for herself and setting boundaries for her and her families well-being towards Tammy. Tammy is extremely unhappy and jealous of her sister's life when she can reach those same goals if she only tries.

The sad thing is EVERYONE wants her to succeed. I wish she could see that, but the trauma is so real I know it’s hard for her to see through that. She has so many self-sabotaging defense mechanisms, it really is heart breaking.
Well then she needs maybe daily therapy with multiple types of therapists or people working with her if the trauma is that bad that she’s gaining this much and still doesn’t seem to WANT to lose any weight. or get any help and that’s sad as fuck.

There is something else going on with her that must be causing this. She clearly also has a lot of anxiety about the doctor (common with over weight patients) and probably other unchecked eating or mental issues. I don’t see why everyone rushes to demonize this person. Do you think she’s enjoying being 600+ lbs? Would anyone healthy “choose” that? My aunt died at 32 in her sleep and weighed over 1,000lbs in her casket. It took 12 grown men to move her from hearse to burial site and it was awful watching them struggle to hold her. When they were moving her body from her bed to the coroners van, they accidentally dropped her in the living room of her trailer.......hearing my aunts lifeless body drop on a trailer floor from OUTSIDE is something I never wish anyone to have to experience. My aunt and my mom were identical twins but needless to say, at the weight she was at, they were no longer identical. As a family, we tried exceptionally hard to get her to want to love herself and be better for not only her, but her family. She left behind my cousin, a 9 year old little girl who is now almost 30 and has had to live her life without her mother, knowing food meant more to her than her own daughter did. To take things further, she was so heavy that her body began to "leak" during her viewing and they had to close her casket..... I HATE to be the bearer of bad news but these are the real-life experiences some of you need to hear to change your life and I'm hoping me sharing my experience will spark something in someone who needs to hear this today.
I genuinely pray that Tammy has the willpower to turn her fate around because at the looks of it now, she is heading down the same road I have already walked down. As a family member, it is incredibly hard and frustrating to see someone you love absolutely hate themselves....

i'm really rooting for chris. i just looked into it and apparently, he got the surgery!! and he's recovering well and says he's doing great. he really knows how to hold himself accountable and because of that, i think he will succeed. wishing all the best for him.

I was up to 280 when I stopped weighing myself for months. I started looking at what I was eating and trying to use self control as much as possible.
I am now down to the lowest I’ve been in 3 years at 235!
I know it’s still over weight but it’s good to know I was able to do it.
Way to go!!!!!! That is a huge step to be able to critically analyze what you’re eating so that you can adjust it in a way to feel good, happy, and lose weight. Soo inspiring!

My weight was never at the same level as Tammy's (morbidly obese), but throughout a good portion of the 2010s, it was above the range where it needed to be (overweight, but not obese). Several months back, I tried eating less, and exercising more, all to no avail. In fact, if anything, I continued to gain weight while doing this. The only thing that did go down while I was doing this was my blood pressure (well, it was still a few points above what it should be, but they said it was still within an acceptable range). The doctor's office had me do some bloodwork, and it turned out to be my thyroid. For years, we had chalked it up to my diet.
It's really sad to see that Tammy almost has resentment for her brother for losing weight. Tammy is definitely the type of person who loves dragging people down around her because she wants everyone else to be as miserable and as messed up as she is and that's really sad. That's why I'm so glad that Amy got away from her for a bit because Tammy kept trying to make her quit and fail.

That seems to be a common theme for the exceedingly obese. She is stubborn as heck and she could turn that to benefit herself but I wont judge. It's definitely a struggle. My mom died because of her weight and the health issues that came up. My brother and I tried to help but she wouldnt take help. She died at only 400lbs at just 62
@@melanietoth1376 it's definitely a struggle, all you can do is be there for the person, but she/he is the only one that can lose the weight. I'm overweight, but my family only encourages me, not put me down, then again, I am the only one that can lose it.

Chris honestly wants to save his own life. He puts a lot of us to shame, with how he’s been willing to make changes to his lifestyle. He genuinely tries!
He wants to be there for his wife and family and he’s putting in the work to do that. Chris is amazing.
I think this might be first time in My 600lb Life that someone thought the scale was wrong because the number was too _low._
he does and doesnt. yes he lost some weight. but he also gained a lot of it back when he was stuck in bed. he made bad choices. then he had to "get back on track". Now times passed and hes lost weight BECAUSE of the surgery. Hes at the "stand still" area where if he doesnt make smart choices (like Dr Smith told him) then he wont get the skin removal surgery. You'd think having all that excess skin everywhere (smell alone) would MAKE you stick to a diet & excercise to get rid of it. But chris and amy cant. Also cant get surgery if you're a smoker & both of them are. As BAD as tammy is in this clip & most episodes, now i think shes the only one that will make it

Someones gotta tell Tammy that if you season healthy food well, it can taste a lot better and have a lot fewer calories than fast food. And this is coming from someone who struggles with weight loss. It's just true, add chicken to a salad with a great dressing. Chris' idea of grilled fish is great. Fruit is sweet and low calorie.
It's crazy how she gains 50 pounds and doesn't even notice it because of her size!
When I gain like 5 pounds I immediately feel it. Wow
I'm bigger and when I gain I notice but when. Hospitalized in coma for 2.5 months lost 70 pounds
I panic even when i gain 1 kilogram because I got a little fat in 2020 and just worked it out in 1 whole year i wouldn't want to gain any waight sooner or later
I'm in that way too.. but like Tammy sort of. Once I hit over 180lbs it was like I had no clue just what I weighed . I went to the dr recently and I'm 264. Un -friggin-real. It's weird how quick pound come on once your metabolism is off. For you, a 5pound notice is nor.al because that's a big difference in a healthy body and you notice how sluggish you feel. For bigger folks it's like we are already sluggish and dont notice the metabolism drop. Ugh. Misery I tell ya. Time to call Jenny lol

I understand Tammy's addiction. I'm a semi recovering alcoholic and it's a struggle but this woman needs therapy and coping skills. She can't change until she addresses her mental health issues. I feel bad for her but I feel worse for her siblings. They are making the effort. Tammy is angry because she wants this to be easy and wants to lose weight without having to change anything.

I hate how she was dissing her past doctors but in no shape, form, or fashion has any of them never treated her like a human. All they did was try to give her facts that could open her eyes and see she is going to die very very soon it's not that they don't think she's a human its that sometimes tough love is what you need but obviously Tammy needs so much more than tough love.

TLC has capitalized on the sentiment “it could always be worse”. Everything on that channel reminds me that no matter how bad I think things are…I could always be these people.

She never misses an opportunity to slag off Amy. There is big jealousy there. I watch this vowing never to be a nasty as this person. People will help you if you are a nice person. There is a saying, shut up. If you cannot say something nice, don't say anything at all. Strange how she clamps up in doctor and psychiatric situations so that you can hardly hear her mumbling. Maybe she should write it down 🐱

I think Tammy's biggest problem - and the deep reason behind her inability to lose weight - is that she's come to connect her family members taking care of her and waiting on her hand and foot as them showing their love for her. If she gets to a point of weight loss where they don't have to do all that stuff for her anymore - because now she's capable of doing it herself - her brain reads that as them *withdrawing their love for her* as well as their care. She obviously craves love and attention, after being starved of it in her childhood, and sees her family 'needing' to take care of her (because she's not capable) as the only way to 'hold on to' their love. I don't know how you'd fix that, especially while she's so resistant to any form of therapy as well.
It’s really sad to watch Tammy deteriorate like this. And it’s even worse when I’m watching her push everyone from around her because of the self hatred she feels within. I wish Tammy would stop being stupid, open her eyes and realise that the people telling her to lose the weight are the ones that love and care about her. She doesn’t care about herself and it’s evident from her doing what she does

She’s even resentful of the electric wheelchair even though it gives her more freedom to move and wonders “is it really for me or for them” because it obviously makes it easier on the family not to have to haul her around. I was so perplexed how she could be mad at that but your analysis makes sense
The sad thing is that the show at this point isn’t about 1000lb “sisters” it’s more like a really really long episode of “my 600lb life” Amy has and is still succeeding at her weight loss journey and Chris is right behind her. Tammy is honestly a lost cause and is the source of drama and conflict in the show, sadly I’m gonna be truthful and say that I’m expecting to see the show be cancelled because of Tammy’s death… unless Tammy drops her awful attitude because she has gotten plenty of reality checks.
This is what I was thinking too I watch this do I can stay healthy and workout so I don’t end up in a predicament like this

Growing up I was mentally physically and sexually abused something happened to Tammy that she doesn't want to talk about and I was bullied my whole life too because I'm disabled I understand her pain but she does need to get some help because she doesn't have to eat her emotions and that's what she's doing I understand it but it's not an excuse and she needs to deal with it and not let it Define her life because that's what she's doing and that's not good she needs to move on and leave the past in the past where it belongs I truly hope she gets the help she needs and she quits eating her emotions..
@@lelabrooks04 I would say "she wouldn't open up about in on camera." We don't know what happens in therapy when the cameras aren't there. I wouldn't say anything in therapy if there was a camera there either.
A lot of this ppl who are morbidly obese were sexually abused as children and they start eating so people won't look at them that way. It's a way to cope with the trauma and a way to keep people from wanting to abuse them as well. A lot of the people in the 600lbs show tell us most of the time that is the issue, sexual abuse.
Tammy literally came into her bariatric appointment with some donut frosting smeared on her shirt lol. But seriously I’ve never seen an episode when tammy weighed herself and actually lost weight…
She lost weight in rehab when she has no control of her diet and the portion sizes. Shes addicted to food.

It's like does she not realize that she's sitting in the floor because she too damn big to fit in seat ? But manages to find time to downplay someone else who was basically her main caregiver at one point. Atp they all just need to fallback and let her figure it out on her own for a change. Testimony here... had a gastric bypass 10 years ago. Highest weight was 487 at 5 feet 4 inches tall. Bariatric doctor helped with special diet and lots of info, meetings and caring, and on day of surgery I weighed 399. Now at about 180 where I have stayed for all these years! One amazing side note... have never been hungry since surgery, which I struggled with my entire life. It takes commitment, and mistakes with eating happen. But it may be your only chance at life. It saved mine. Fight on. You are worth it!

Congrats. Losing 300+ pounds is an amazing achievement and maintaining it is an even more impressive feat. Tammy simply doesn't try. As you very well know, eating 8,000 calories a day takes effort and time. It's been a few years now and Tammy has never lost significant weight. This show doesn't show it, but Tammy is eating tremendous amounts on a daily basis.
