Everyone will get this. Whether u make it thru it is down to a lot of variables that aren't completely understood at the moment unfortunately. And it's possible to get it time after time. Every time being worse than before and leaving your body more susceptible to this and other illness. This will burn thru high risk populations just like it has done in China. Our heath systems can't deal with 20% of the population needing help in some way. They haven't done anything because they KNOW there is no stopping this. And it will make its rounds til it can't anymore. Sigh...

Yes it is but keep in mind that several of the Lancet’s more prominent studies have been funded by WHO and the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation, that the U.S. media reported 22 million people were infected with Swine Flu in 2009 (wrong), that certain large corporations have a very strong incentive to spread fear, and that maybe, just maybe, this whole campaign is a coordinated effort to spread FUD to achieve a goal that would otherwise be unachievable. I am originally from Hong Kong and I now live in the UK. I just came back from Hong Kong 3 weeks ago. Everyone in Hong Kong is hyper vigilant of the coronavirus, we keep talking about it, we disinfect our hands every time we touch something when we are outside. Everyone is doing everything they can to protect themselves from catching the virus. Since I came back to the UK, my neighbours, friends and families have been calling me silly and over worrying about the virus. I feel like I’m living in two worlds at the same time, my heart is feeling the pain of this imminent pandemic, but my head is telling myself life is normal, the coronavirus is just like a flu (everyone in UK seems to think that way). Every time I want to talk about how bad the situation is in China, nobody wants to hear it. I’m so glad I have found this channel, I feel my heart is less alone 😢

He is absolutely correct. The NHS would not stand a chance.
I have worked in the NHS for over a decade, and this is going to be a trying year. It could go bankrupt, simply due to lack of repairs to buildings, because all those at the top only think about headlines and patients.
We would not be able to handle a couple hundred cases, even. Everything is that stretched now, it is frightening. We are talking about a time when more and more workers are retiring, and more and more demand on the service. This winter, my hospital had A&E so overloaded, it was a 16 hour waiting time, because of sheer volume of patients.
This is the simple reality of the situation.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but it seems to be that the WHO has dropped the ball on this. Completely. I'm just a biologist, not trained in infectious diseases, etc and it was obvious to me early on that this is an extremely contagious disease. Either the WHO is incompetent or doing this on purpose. Either way, it's reached the point of ridiculousness. We can all see how rapidly this is spreading in certain communities in countries outside of China.

This could get very bad very quickly and they are still standing around pretending everything is OK.

No. The evidence is very, very weak that the incubation periods are greater than 14 days. Also, all of the commenters suggesting American health authorities are idiots are fools. The US probably has the best public health authority in the world (CDC). A 14+ day incubation period would be pretty unheard of, especially for a virus in the family of a coronavirus. If you have been tracking the CDC's statements, you'll understand that they are very aware of the 24 day model and have said multiple times that hundreds of other models suggest far shorter incubation periods.
The criticism for the World Health Organization is completely justified. I do think, however, the US health authorities (both CDC and NIH) have been really transparent. The head of NIH's infectious disease and allergies division and the CDC have been saying for weeks this will likely turn into a pandemic.
In the global health security (GHS) index, the US ranks #1. We spend an impressive amount of money on public health agencies like the CDC and have the best epidemiologist in the world. The US lags behind in so many areas, but this is one where we're truly the best tasked with preventing it.

I went to see my rheumatologist yesterday. In the last year the decline at the hospital has been incredible and I’d say it’s not far from shutting down now. The doctors are refusing to treat and test people for the diseases they already know they have, I am one of the worst cases in the clinic and yesterday I know she was trying to refuse biologic treatment because of money not because I don’t need it, we as a country and I’m my own experience my local hospital for certain, we are not prepared! Every year at least once I’m hospitalised with Flu/pneumonia/sepsis and those experiences tell me that we aren’t even prepared for flu season every year! This is craziness so many people in authority and in charge of our health who are brushing this under the carpet like it’s nothing. Many of these people are highly qualified including in medicine and yet they are treating this as if it’s nothing to worry about. It was stated in my appointment that my biggest problem is infection in my lungs constantly, the covid19 wasn’t even mentioned, indeed she complained that I need to get off high dose steroids because it’s hiding my RA swelling but I’ve had to be on high dose for constant lung infection since New Years. I’m starting to wonder... is it actually covid19 I’ve been so poorly with. Any doctors I’ve spoken to don’t even seem to want to discuss it without assuming I’m panicking! It worries me more how ignorant everyone is being than the disease worries me tbh
