  • Welcome to Marrakech & Menara Airport
    I hope you find the the information & tips in the video useful & help you prepare for your trip to the red city.
    Firstly when you leave the aircraft always try and enter the terminal building asap as queues at immigration can sometimes be long.
    **update 23.8.23
    There is no requirement to complete a health questionnaire anymore
    At passport control you just need your passport & boarding pass.
    Immediately after your passport is checked by a immigration officer, another officer checks your passport again to ensure you have an entry stamp.
    Then as you enter the baggage area immediately on your right are the stands for mobile networks.
    Remember he sims are free and you can top up as necessary.
    You can choose between a calls package or data package
    Prices are 5gb 50dh - 10gb 100dh -
    Sims will be installed for you and tested before you leave.
    **(UPDATE 28.5.23 - PLEASE NOTE THE SIM CARD BOOTHS HAVE NOW MOVED TO THE ARRIVALS HALL JUST BEFORE YOU EXIT THE BUILDING)
    Once you have collected your baggage you will need to go a security check where your bags are scanned.
    Check with you car hire company if they want to meet inside the airport (departures area) or outside which at the end of the video is on the man in car park next to where the airport bus stops.
    At 2.01 mins info is given about catching a local bus from the main road, you can also avoid the high taxi charges and walk to the main road outside the airport and just flag a taxi.
    Just remember a small taxi can only take 3 passengers and has to by law out on the meter.
    A large taxi can take up to 6 but you will need to negotiate a price.
    Otherwise just use the info boards up the ramp for taxi prices from the airport. **(UPDATE 28.5.23 - THERE IS A NEW TAXI BOOKING OFFICE - SEE VIDEO GUIDE)

    Nov. 6, 2023 update from what I experienced:
    Just left the Marrakesh airport and am in the city now. The SIM card stalls, (now outside of the Marrakesh airport luggage scan area), seem to have formed a cartel. They all offer only 20GB for 30 days, for 20 euro now, across the board, (I asked INWI and Orange, and they both only offer this one option!) No receipt was given when I asked.
    As it turns out, the hostel I’m staying in actually sells SIM cards for only a few euros and is tailored to my needs, i.e. 4 days vs. 30 days. So, don’t buy it at the airport. The problem is that when I was there, the Airport Wi-Fi was conveniently “not working,” which means, I had to buy a SIM card from these vendors. It’s funny how that works out.

    • @Pakoraman
      @Pakoraman  10 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the update.
      I have also experienced the min 20euro sim top issue- I just take a free sim and top up later. No good if you need to contact someone. The airport Wi-Fi is generally working to make a quick call.

      Visa on arrival for British passport holders which is free of charge.
      Best to use ATMS or the money exchange as in the video in the departures area.

      If you go thru to departures as in the video there a convenient shop just on your right side - - not sure he sells SIM cards though!

    So to get to the bus stop after exiting the airport is 10 min walk? I am thinking of exchanging some USD to dirham at the airport just to pay the bus.
    Also, do you think is better to exchange USD at a currency exchange store or ATM?

      The local bus is a 7-10 walk to the main road and ti get to the centre you will need to cross over to the far side of the main road.
      Best to use a free ATM, the Al Barid machines are free others may charge.

    Hi can the health form be handwritten with pen? Or does it need to be typed on computer and printed? Thanks

    • @Pakoraman
      @Pakoraman  Год назад +1

      Hello Janine, you can do it either way as long as it’s legible. To be honest they hardly look at it when you hand it in but it’s best to complete it.

      @@Pakoraman thank you for your quick reply! It also asks for a CI/ID card or residence permit number, do i just leave this section blank?

    Excellent guide thanks. Is there an atm that can be used before the desks giving SIM cards ? If not do they except euro or Sterling/dollars? Thanks 0:28

    • @Pakoraman
      @Pakoraman  Год назад

      Hello Neil
      All the atms at after you the baggage area. After global exchange there is another exchange which give you a more preferable rate. However, the students that sell the sims card will take euros or sterling but because of the conversion it will cost you 25% more.
      You can take a sim for free and top up later.
      If you need to contact a driver outside who is collecting you you can try & use the free airport Wi-Fi.

      Thanks for the swift reply. So in summary it’s probably better to change a small amount at the more preferable exchange desk than pay in another currency. Thanks again 😊

      Yes if you need data immediately- the top up are either for calls or data so ask for data to make calls back to the uk using WhatsApp

    Hi, thanks for this interesting video. Do you get ready to find people to share a taxi if you travel on your own?

    • @Pakoraman
      @Pakoraman  Год назад +1

      I never take a taxi from the airport I always take the local bus from the main road.
      You’re probably better speaking to people on your flight or in the immigration queue to ask anyone wants to share. It all depends where they staying & where you are staying.
      There is a new taxi ‘desk’ due to open to book a taxi without being ripped off- not sure in operation yet but I will update next when when I visit
      Have a nice trip

    Why are you going through security on arrivals

    • @Pakoraman
      @Pakoraman  Год назад

      It’s a baggage check done by customs officers after you have collected you bags and before you can leave for the arrivals area.
      Is that what you were referring to?

    did they take your fingerprints at passport control?

    • @Pakoraman
      @Pakoraman  Год назад +1

      No finger prints required - the only requirement now is the health form which needs to be completed and handed in before you get to passport control.
