I remember watching Kill Bill as a very scared and timid child, far too young to watch an R-rated movie, but when literal _geysers_ of blood started to come out of the Crazy 88 like high pressure pumps, I stopped being scared, and started being entertained. The violence did indeed start to be fun, giving me an adrenaline rush.
For contrast, I really enjoyed that one. Everything I'd hoped for, and then some. Speaking of cinematic violence, tarintino really played this one on the edge. When it happened, it was absurd.

Connections: 1- Dr. King Schultz and Paula Schultz - Dr. King Schulz is a character in the movie "Django Unchained,"wich is a German dentist turned bounty hunter. its simple, you just need to know when to push the right buttons and how your violence engages with the whole story of the film, style, characters. Even when Tarantino goes overboard with his violence, it never loses the context of the bigger picture and of course, I mention it is simple, but in reality, no it isn't that's why Quentin's style is entertaining to watch. Violence is the physical manifestation of presumptive inequality. Whether it's different in power or skill, violence is the proof of the power of one individual over another. I thought the theme... vengeance, death, getting what you deserve kind of thing in the movie made that distinction its pivot point... there in idealizing what (good) violence is. But okay. Definitely with the happy sounds and violence though.

Bottomline, for me, Tarantino is entertaining as all hell, regardless of how people are attracted to, or repulsed by, the stylistic violence. Personally, I enjoy his films a great deal, and always eagerly await his next venture. Additionally, he manages to create some of the absolute best dialogue in modern film with his scripts. You guys did a great job here exploring Tarantino's fixations, and the visceral reactions to some of his filmography; well done, gentlemen, well done. _However_ I must mention again, as I did in one of your earlier videos....please, PLEASE dial back the background music. No matter if I use headphones, or my large desktop speakers, or laptop, the music is just...too much. IF it's needed at all, then it should not be at the same or similar volume as your voice. Honestly, it takes away from your intent: to engage people and have them actually hear what it is you're saying, and the import of those words. Perhaps it's just me, but if I have to struggle to discern what you are saying, the goal has been missed and I end the video more frustrated than enlightened. At any rate, this channel provides unique insight and knowledge like few others, and I always look forward to a new upload; just be aware that the issue with loud background music is something that turns away a significant number of viewers in much of media these days and can be easily fixed. Violence IS fun. The body gives you an adrenaline/dopamine/norepinephrine surge as a defense mechanism. The concurrent high is undeniable to most that have committed multiple violent acts. What’s not fun is the consequences of violence, which the movies conveniently allow you to forsake.
So crazy that i watched Pans an hour ago. Watch this video and see this comment. Holy. It was my 10th time watching it. It's near perfect in terms of thought-provoking film making.
Primarily there are a lot of different statements and explorations of meaning. Each film has different ideas on that area it's trying to express. It's a fascinating thing to think about. It's never really condoning it even when it's supposed to be just for fun and even when that's there there's always something else going on to make it more than mindless. Never a wasted moment. They all say something even when that can also be interpretive.
Quentin Tarantino is one of our times greatest directors. My rankings of his movies would be: #8: Jackie brown ( not bad, but compared to his other works. Not too great. ) #7: Death Proof ( decent first half, but it lost me at the second ) #6: Kill Bill vol 1 and 2 ( Vol 1 is so fucking badass, but 2 was definitely a step down ) #5: Reservoir Dogs ( this would have come in at number 4, but the middle of this movie wasn't that interesting ) #4:Inglorious bastards ( basically the way everyone wanted this war to go. This movie just leaks genious. ) Now my top 3 are very close. So close in fact, that my number 2 and 3 spot switch almost every week. #3: Pulp Fiction ( I don't even have to say anything, it's just that good ) #2: Django Unchained ( this movie got me into Tarantino, but it wasn't until this next movie that he became my favorite director) And at number one, I give you..... Drum roll please....... #1: The hateful eight ( imo, this is Tarantino's masterpiece. It has Sam Jackson at his best, a great score by Ennio Morricone, Beautiful Cinematography And some of Tarantino's best writing ) And that's my list. Please, by all means, share your lists, cause they most definitely will be different. And please, do not send hate. This is my opinion, let's be mature about this. From one Tarantino Fan to another, I salute you.
Kill Bill Vol. 2 is a more slow and thoughtful film and I thought it was a beautiful contrast to the high energy of the first. You already saw the fun, cartoonish, high-pressure blood anime stuff, it's time to take a step back and go for realism this time, actually thinking about the implications of the violence.
Love Quentin Tarantino movies, Fair dinkum his movies have you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. And it's not only about the violence but the black comedy.
I think you just helped me to understand Tarantino a bit better. I had problems to understand why he uses so much graphic violence and why he tells his stories a certain way. I think I tried too much to find philosophical reasons for these points. I do not like it when voilence is used cheaply. Maybe I will now have more fun when I'm watching a movie by Quentin Tarantino. Even when Tarantino goes overboard with his violence, it never loses the context of the bigger picture and of course, I mention it is simple, but in reality, no it isn't that's why Quentin's style is entertaining to watch. Violence is the physical manifestation of presumptive inequality. Whether it's different in power or skill, violence is the proof of the power of one individual over another. I thought the theme... vengeance, death, getting what you deserve kind of thing in the movie made that distinction its pivot point... there in idealizing what (good) violence is. But okay. Definitely with the happy sounds and violence though.
Tarantino is overlooked for how intelligent he actually is imo.

Bottomline, for me, Tarantino is entertaining as all hell, regardless of how people are attracted to, or repulsed by, the stylistic violence. Personally, I enjoy his films a great deal, and always eagerly await his next venture. Additionally, he manages to create some of the absolute best dialogue in modern film with his scripts.
You guys did a great job here exploring Tarantino's fixations, and the visceral reactions to some of his filmography; well done, gentlemen, well done.
_However_ I must mention again, as I did in one of your earlier videos....please, PLEASE dial back the background music. No matter if I use headphones, or my large desktop speakers, or laptop, the music is just...too much. IF it's needed at all, then it should not be at the same or similar volume as your voice.
Honestly, it takes away from your intent: to engage people and have them actually hear what it is you're saying, and the import of those words. Perhaps it's just me, but if I have to struggle to discern what you are saying, the goal has been missed and I end the video more frustrated than enlightened.
At any rate, this channel provides unique insight and knowledge like few others, and I always look forward to a new upload; just be aware that the issue with loud background music is something that turns away a significant number of viewers in much of media these days and can be easily fixed.

Violence IS fun. The body gives you an adrenaline/dopamine/norepinephrine surge as a defense mechanism. The concurrent high is undeniable to most that have committed multiple violent acts. What’s not fun is the consequences of violence, which the movies conveniently allow you to forsake.

Primarily there are a lot of different statements and explorations of meaning. Each film has different ideas on that area it's trying to express. It's a fascinating thing to think about. It's never really condoning it even when it's supposed to be just for fun and even when that's there there's always something else going on to make it more than mindless. Never a wasted moment. They all say something even when that can also be interpretive.
" I Spit on your Grave " is intense; I think it's more 'violent' than even the
Saw series. It's an older movie - it's a little surprising.

Quentin Tarantino is one of our times greatest directors.
My rankings of his movies would be:
#8: Jackie brown ( not bad, but compared to his other works. Not too great. )
#7: Death Proof ( decent first half, but it lost me at the second )
#6: Kill Bill vol 1 and 2 ( Vol 1 is so fucking badass, but 2 was definitely a step down )
#5: Reservoir Dogs ( this would have come in at number 4, but the middle of this movie wasn't that interesting )
#4:Inglorious bastards ( basically the way everyone wanted this war to go. This movie just leaks genious. )
Now my top 3 are very close. So close in fact, that my number 2 and 3 spot switch almost every week.
#3: Pulp Fiction ( I don't even have to say anything, it's just that good )
#2: Django Unchained ( this movie got me into Tarantino, but it wasn't until this next movie that he became my favorite director)
And at number one, I give you.....

#1: The hateful eight ( imo, this is Tarantino's masterpiece. It has Sam Jackson at his best, a great score by Ennio Morricone, Beautiful Cinematography And some of Tarantino's best writing )
And that's my list. Please, by all means, share your lists, cause they most definitely will be different. And please, do not send hate. This is my opinion, let's be mature about this. From one Tarantino Fan to another, I salute you.
Kill Bill Vol. 2 is a more slow and thoughtful film and I thought it was a beautiful contrast to the high energy of the first. You already saw the fun, cartoonish, high-pressure blood anime stuff, it's time to take a step back and go for realism this time, actually thinking about the implications of the violence.
My fav 2 are Pulp Fiction and Inglorious Basterds

I think you just helped me to understand Tarantino a bit better. I had problems to understand why he uses so much graphic violence and why he tells his stories a certain way. I think I tried too much to find philosophical reasons for these points. I do not like it when voilence is used cheaply.
Maybe I will now have more fun when I'm watching a movie by Quentin Tarantino.
