@@YouNeverKnowWhoIsWatching that's certainly a concern. It's crazy to see how many dogs are allowed to wander these days. I've seen a neighbour walking her small dogs and get attacked by a much bigger and very aggressive cane corso. Perhaps ask the client if there are any dogs in the area to be aware of? 🤔
Thank you so much for this! I'm looking at options and in a very similar situation to when you started. Put it my notice at a job that was going downhill and moving.
Great video I been thinking about doing this for rover and eventually on my own….. my only question would be, will there ever be a time where it’s too hot to walk a dog , I’m asking because I live in Las Vegas where it gets up to 115 degrees in the summer…… thanks
Im looking into a side gig and have heard about Rover. How does that work when you have to pay taxes? How do you know how much you’ll need to withhold from what you earn to pay in? I’ve always had my employee take out taxes and never had to do it on my own. Thanks for any tips!
Thank you for this amazing video! I had a question on if this app will allow you to switch your locations (ZIP). I travel for my job and sometimes I will be in another State for a month or so. I wasn't sure if I can only use one ZIP address. Thanks!
Hi! I’m currently on Wag but apparently I’ve had Rover before. I just never figured out how to use it. I want to use both but they told me I have to apply to advertise or something like that. I’m confused? Overall my experience with Wag has been amazing too!
I’m really deciding if I should I live in a small town and I don’t have a ton of money. That’s why I want to try rover so I don’t know if it’s worth it or not in a small town
It might just be my anxiety but what happens when you lose a pet? Cat runs away when the door is cracked for a sec or when you have an especially energetic dog that manages to break free from its leash on a walk? Really curious if anyone has encountered this? I would be mortified...
Youll have to get creative with in person promotion More Rover clients may flock if you adjust your location in settings Making it broader may attract other pet sitters
Would you recommend Rover to people who don't have any experience with pets? I'm thinking about getting a cat, but before I do I kinda wanted to do a trial run and board a few cats to see if I should...
I think its a great idea! Be sure to do meet and greets first and research research research I learned about the difference between wet and dry cat food with one of my first clients!
I live 30 minutes from the closest town and I'm unable to have pets come to my house so the only thing I'm able to do is house sit for someone but I worry that there's not enough of those in this area. Do you think it's worth the $35 when I'm tight on money to sign up on Rover without knowing how many families are out there in need of house sitters in my area?
So pricing. When you see “House sitting rate 150$” then “dog walking 20$/per walk”…… are walks etc included in the 150 or are walks etc additional charges? Flying out of town to dog sit house sit
I applied for rover and im nervous i wont get accepted. I put my two weeks notice in on my job as a courtesy clerk. I don't drive. Rover is something that I really want to do. I can walk to places. Do you think I will be able to get clients?
What I don't like about Rover is that from what I have seen, they're just too greedy. They take such a big cut even tho they have so little overhead compared to you as the person driving to the locations to walk the dogs.
Have you heard of Stripe, their mileage tracker? Helps a lot with taxes! I came to terms with them taking their portion because they offer a lot of coverage if anything goes wrong
@@Kiahlaflame Rover is not that bad, they take only 20%? Wag is awful, they take 40% I heard which is just a pure scam. If you take a job that pays $20 for a 30 min walk. It takes you an hour or almost an hour. You have to drive to the pet owners house, if it's 6 miles away that's like a 10 to 15 min drive with traffic. Then 30 min walk Then take the dog back. 45 min to an hour to complete. They take their 20% cut. that leaves you with $16 then taxes, gas and a bit aside for car maintenance for tires, oil changes etc, that come more often because you're driving your car way more. You put 25% that leaves you with $12 per hour that you're making. I just don't like the sound of that. With Rover, since their cut is 40% people end up making under $10 an hour. They just don't realize it until it's too late and end up quitting when they finally understand the math. This is why these apps are constantly hiring, their turn over for dog walkers is prob sky high.

For the dog walking, how do you protect yourself against strays and other dogs along the route?
🤣 just carry a stick or a umbrella and protect yourself use some mace

Consider walking the dogs either in the morning or at night when it's cooler! During the day, finding areas with grass can also be an option!
I got approved. Yay. How long does it usually take to get clients?
Depends on the area!
How much does Rover take out???
Thank you
omg not joking i was thinking about signing up to something like this since i moved overseas and my dogs are back home!! signing up immediately!!!!

If the Rover app is confusing, try checking out the desktop version! Or watching Rover tutorial videos
How much would you say on average did you make if you just did dog walking? And how often would you walk them
Not quite sure because the walking gigs got pretty old pretty quick but the tips were nice!

It’s worth a try, dogs are in small and big towns

Hey I am just starting and would love to know some more info
What I don't like is that they take 20% of my payment, it's okay to change to the customer the $50 dllrs to book but why to the dog sitters?
It's okay to at least try and see how the pet sitters react!

Depends on your financial priorities but it can be seen as an investment!
Hi Makiah- I luv your voice ☺I'm transitioning from THS. On Rover the Pet Parent reach out to you to book, or you apply to their request?
Hey Nyrell! Thank you!
They usually reach out to you with times and days!
@@Kiahlaflame Got it. Thank you! I'm waiting for the background check and profile review completion 🤗
Do you have to sit at the client's home or anywhere?
Depends on the service!
just wondering about how long does the background check take to complete?
For me was 4 days
My background check was complete is just over 24 hours. Paid the fee on a Wednesday night and early Friday morning I got the approval email
What is the pet care post feature?
Where owners can post that they need help and sitters can message first!
