    What should I buy, DCS or Lynx?

    • @BBQGuys

      +DGH First of all, both a great premium grills that you will be happy with.
      - DCS cranks some serious heat, you will not have a problem searing steak over any of the conventional burners.
      -If you prefer a true ceramic infrared burner for searing, then it is good to consider the Lynx grill with a Prosear burner. The Lynx Prosear burner is a very unique infrared, because it can not only be set on high heat, you can lower it for more delicate items.
      - The rotisserie motor on Lynx is 3 speed, which is nice flexibility to have.
      - They both use ceramic flame tamers, DCS has rods where Lynx has briquettes.. I have been pleased with both systems with their ability to disperse the heat and retain it.
      -Another thing to consider, I have had customers want the classic "grill marks" on their food, so they gravitated more towards the Lynx because the cooking grids are stainless steel rods. DCS has wide stainless steel reversible grids, which I really like (the more grid to food contact, the more wide the caramilization).. just know the grid marks left on the food look different than most grills.
      - DCS is a very high heat range grill, (very similar to what I was used to cooking on in commercial kitchens) it might be a learning curve if you are used to putting food on the grill, walking away and drinking a beer before returning to check on the food. I have found Lynx has more of a low heat turn down range on the conventional burners than DCS does, which is good if you prefer that type of grilling.
      I hope this helps, the rest really comes down to which one you find the best looking, let me know if you have any other questions, and feel free to call us 877-743-2269 :)

      +BBQGuys.com This is great, thanks for taking the time. When you say "low heat turn down range on the conventional burners" do you mean that it can operate at a lower heat? Or that it gets to the lower temperature quicker?
      My biggest problem with the DCS is stainless steel burners. I don't know if this is an issue but everyone seems to prefer cast brass.
      My main problem with the Lynx is that the ProSear is different to the other burners. I'm not sure I want/need a specialised area of the grill. If I wanted to cover the entire grill surface with kebabs, for example, will they all cook evenly? Even if it could be set to the same temp, the food on that burner will still cook differently.
      Which one would you buy?
      Thanks again!

    • @BBQGuys
      @BBQGuys 8 лет назад

      Sure thing! I am talking low heat turn down as far as how they come "out of the box" the Lynx is able to chill at a lower temp on "low" setting than DCS does.
      -They both have the ceramic flame tamers, so keep in mind reducing heat from high to low will take a little bit longer than a grill like Blaze, that has stainless steel flame tamers.
      - I would say the burner material comes down to preference, I have not had customers complain about the longevity of DCS. The Lynx brass is very heavy duty, I don't know if you have had the chance to pick up and feel the weight one of the lynx burners.. but is is very impressive!
      - The dedicated sear burner space on lynx is something people want to avoid sometimes. All conventional burners is possible with Lynx:www.bbqguys.com/item_name_Lynx-36-Inch-Built-In-Propane-Gas-BBQ-Grill-With-Rotisserie-L36R-1-LP_item_368622.html You are totally right, yes, you will have the ability to adjust your temp on the sear burner, but it will cook slightly different than the same "knob setting" on the conventional burner.
      - I am not sure what size grill you have in mind, but I would recommend at least 3 main burners, this way you have the flexibility to have room to indirect cook. If you get a DCS wide enough that you can have the flexibility to direct & indirect cook, DCS would be a good fit for you. If you are getting something like a 2 burner, go with Lynx because you have more of an ability to cook with direct low heat. Here is the all conventional 2 (main burner) Lynx www.bbqguys.com/item_name_Lynx-27-Inch-Built-In-BBQ-Grill-With-Rotisserie-L27R-2-NG_item_487508.html

      +BBQGuys.com This is great thanks again for taking the time. I am looking for a 3 burner. Not having a temp gauge does annoy me but if the DCS sears better than the Lynx on normal burners then thats the one for me.

    • @BBQGuys
      @BBQGuys 8 лет назад

      DGH Glad this helped, yeah the no temp gauge throws people off at first, but honestly, the hood temp gauge on grills is not that accurate. The difference between the grid level temperature, and the ambient temp by the time it reaches the top of the hood can vary a good bit. I feel much more confident using a good internal temp gauge, and you can get the kind that read ambient also.

    Hey what is an AFFORDABLE gas grill that I can also smoke on?

    • @BBQGuys
      @BBQGuys 8 лет назад

      What is your price range? I would strongly suggest spending a little extra for a quality grill to avoid having to replace parts, or buy an entirely new grill down the road, especially in built in applications this can be very inconvenient. Blaze Grills have an optional smoker box, www.bbqguys.com/item_name_Blaze-25-Inch-3-Burner-Built-In-Natural-Gas-Grill-BLZ-3-NG_item_2856718.html Smoker box: www.bbqguys.com/item_name_Blaze-Stainless-Steel-Smoker-Box-BLZ-SMBX_item_2856744.html

      Check out this Phoenix grill: www.bbqguys.com/item_name_Phoenix-Grill-SD-Stainless-Steel-Propane-Gas-Grill-Head-On-Black-Aluminum-C_item_2877656.html The design makes it work well for smoking because the heat is diffused by the cast aluminium plate over the burner. If it doesn't have a dedicated smoker box it probably won't work right

    • @BBQGuys
      @BBQGuys 8 лет назад

      Are you entirely opposed to a charcoal grill? The thing is, if you smoke more often than you grill, I would suggest considering a Kamado grill. You can smoke on a gas grill, but it won't be as good as what you can do over charcoal in my opinion. If smoking is a priority, you will probably want a grill with a few burners and a good amount of width so that you can get your food on one end, and turn the burner on at the other end. The drawback with this is, the more burners & larger the grill, the more pricey the grill gets. Quality wise, Blaze is the best bang for your buck around $1000, but I don't know if the 25 inch grill will leave you with as much space as you want to smoke. There is always Weber: www.bbqguys.com/item_name_Weber-Genesis-S-330-Freestanding-Propane-Gas-Grill-With-Sear-Burner-Side_item_2786284.html They have a universal smoker box: www.bbqguys.com/item_name_Weber-7576-Universal-Smoker-Box_item_2873826.html

    And it's $6,000 before tax - if i remember correctly, my parent's first house in Torrance, CA was $6,000............ So tell me, and no waffling, DCS's warranty will mean this will be a one time purchase FOR LIFE with no further expense?

    • @BBQGuys
      @BBQGuys 8 лет назад

      +ashman0071 DCS is certainly built to last many years, I have friends that have the first version with the lava rocks that are still grilling great. It is an investment, but you will find with cheaper home improvement store grills, you will be replacing them very often once they rust out beyond usable condition. We have plenty of grills in other price ranges, as far as bang for your buck check out the Blaze line www.bbqguys.com/item_name_Blaze-32-Inch-4-Burner-Built-In-Gas-Grill-With-Rear-Infrared-Burner-BLZ-4_item_2856898.html
      Here are the DCS Warranty specifics: All DCS grills have a two year (2) limited warranty covering parts and
      labor for the entire product, and a five (5) year comprehensive warranty
      covering the radiant trays, radiant tray side rails and drip pans.
      Should structural deterioration occur to the degree of non-performance, a
      replacement will be furnished. A lifetime warranty (labor not included)
      is given on the stainless steel grill burners, stainless steel grill
      cover, burner box, cooking grates and grill racks(excluding
      discoloration or surface corrosion). Lifetime is defined as normal
      domestic use and service for the lifetime of the original purchaser.

      We did have 3 parts behind the knobs break before getting a chance to have it installed. We think it bumped into a wall or piece of furniture over the winter. The part seems flimsy. To be determined. Getting replacements...at our expense.

      Stupid comment. Everyone knows no grill will last forever. Plus you're comparing a price of a CA house years ago to current pricing. For what it's worth my dad bought an older version of this grill 14 years ago, had to replace a few parts here and there. But the grill performed great. But yeah for the price I'm surprised the warranty isn't beyond 2 years.
